He doesn't even look like a dachshund, so I'm curious if anyone sees anything.

I bought her/him as a female.

However when the breeder put her in a bag she noted she didn't see any egg spot, neither did I. I admit out of curiousity I held the fish bag in front of my male betta's tank when I got home, and the new fish flared at my male instantly.

So what do we think, is this a male or a female? Or is it too early to tell?

I have 3 tanks. 2 of them have blue cherry shrimp (I know cherries are red but can't spell their Latin name lol), those are doing fine. Everyone is eating, even in the betta tank. However my orange cherries in the third, youngest tank are seemingly starving themselves, and they're housed with friendly community fish like pygmys and rasboras. Fish are fine.

I don't know what's going on, am I doing something wrong? It's a tropical tank with a specific substrate, so the water got very soft. That's why I started to use a GH/KH booster, but even now they refuse to eat. One side is so heavily planted it's practically a jungle, I was wondering that they just don't want to come out from their perfect hiding place? But note that even the food I put in the jungle won't get eaten at all. Not even a nimble. I tried 3 different types of shrimp food, none of them works.

I'm out of ideas, anyone has experience with this? They keep dying. :(

17 gal/64L, I change the water weekly, water is 25 degrees Celsius/77 degrees Fahrenheit (with a heater). Cycled tank. Amanos are doing good, just like the fish. The orange cherries keep having babies, but then one of the adults die almost every week.
