Books like She Who Became the Sun

Mainly for the setting I’m a huge fan of the setting and atmosphere. Plus I was a huge fan of the monk portion, I’m only about 150 pages in so no spoilers but I want to pick out my next book early once I finish.

Finally watched Little Miss Sunshine

I always put it off because what I knew about the movie just never intrigued me but today I was bored and decided why not. Well I wish I watched it earlier because it may now be in my top movies of all time. I never thought it would hit as much as it did but all the characters are given their mini spotlight as we dive into what makes this family who they are even if it’s just bits a pieces of their lives. Genuinely just a wonderful movie and I’m mad at myself for not watching it sooner.

How to get more fiber as a picky eater

I want to try my best to get more fiber in my diet but everything I try I don’t like. Most veggies I’m not a fan of minus asparagus. I’ve tried to get into spinach and ricotta ravioli which is a step in the right direction but the only ones that have sauce have tomato sauce which I don’t like (which is weird cause I love raw tomatoes). I love edamame and apples but I would have to eat a bunch of those to meet the recommended amount. I’ve also tried fiber supplements but those do things that aren’t appreciated to my body(sorry that’s worried weirdly it just said I was asking for medical advice when I mentioned this and I wouldn’t be able to post it). It just feels like I have to eat SO much of something to get enough fiber, so far the most helpful thing has been oatmeal since it has a decent amount for its size. It’s hard when every advice is just “well duh eat something you don’t like” I DO do that but I don’t want it to be every meal.
Also I’ve tried fiber gummies but they end up hurting my stomach.

When I help in the kitchen

I’m mainly front of house but I help in the kitchen like once a week and every time I am ripped away. Yesterday I put on the Spanish dub of Jujutsu kaisen with English subtitles on my phone and set it up for all of us to watch while we worked. DONT MAKE ME GO BACK TO FRONT OF HOUSE I DONT WANT TO TALK TO ANYONE!! FREE MEEEEE! Let me prep all day, I’ll cut all the things forever.

Comment sections for servers

I love videos about serving because it’s relatable but oh my god the comments are insufferable. Someone will have a bad night and get 5 dollars on like a bajillion dollar bill and suddenly the comments are filled with non servers degrading the professor saying “to just get a better job” or that tipping is bullshit. It’s just so frustrating that people treat our profession as a joke. There are plenty of times that the post isn’t even relating to tipping! I know people like that will always exist but it’s still hurtful to know there are people out there who think I’m trash or stupid for being a server.

Desperate to move

I need some help and I feel like I’m going to rip my hair out. I’m looking for a place between UMBC and UMD college park (even ish drive to both areas) my budget is 2,500 a month (I’ll be splitting it).
I’m just so exhausted of searching it feels like every place has roaches, rats, and no parking. The single place that was good enough my group was 5,000 away from meeting the income requirement.
I’m desperate at this point, I’m terrified I won’t have a house or apartment by the time I need it.
If any of you have had a good experience somewhere in between those two areas I would love to hear it.
It’s four of us total, our only requirements was 2,500 or under, between UMBC and umd, a safe enough area (honestly as long as we don’t get murdered), cat friendly (we have one), no to minimum pests (at this point I’m okay with mice), and available parking. We’re trying to get a three bedroom but I am not above convincing the other two to room together. I’ll take an apartment heck even a house to rent out. I just need a place to live because I don’t want to be couch hopping by the time my semester starts.

My insane bad luck

So we have a system to have people be cut for the night aka gambling. If you’ve been here all day you have priority and if you’re only here in the evening you have the least. Game is simple, just pure dice rolls. Two white dice which are worth what they are and the black dice are worth double. Whoever gets the highest gets cut first in their cohort (all day or half day). Then whoever gets the least is closer: gets the last tables, checks that everyone did their side work, and checks everyone’s sections to make sure they are clean.
Here are my rolls the past 4 days (luckily some days I wasn’t closer but I would be second to last to be cut):
7
7
10
9
At this point I’m just going to accept being closer or second to last cut every shift. 😂

Edit: this was in fact meant to be a funny post guys, my coworkers and I really don’t have beef with this method obviously it should not be widely accepted we just have fun with it 😭

Moving to silver spring

Im searching for an apartment right now and I’ve toured Woodvale and it seemed nice but I also heard some things about Spring Parc and while the reviews seem nice I’ve heard of some issues with crime. If you all have any insight I’d greatly appreciate it!

How to avoid falling back into an ED mindset (TW for possibly triggering language)

TW: mention of tracking calories, and mention of exercising and weightlifting (no actual ED habits discussed and no numbers are involved)

I’ve been out of having an ED mindset for a while but recently I’ve started weightlifting and exercising more but more for something to do and for the weightlifting that’s for bone health. Well I was enjoying seeing my progressing for weight lifting and I liked seeing the muscle development. Plus I just liked getting stronger, it was sick as hell. Well my issue is I was trying to look for advice for how to take the next step on how to level up my lifting game. The issue is a lot of it involved tracking calorie intake, macros, etc. I know myself and the SECOND I start doing that is the second I fall back into disordered eating. My recovery followed a lot of intuitive eating and just refusing to look at calories minus maybe looking at the label to see if something had fiber. It worked great! The issue is I became addicted to the control I had over my body with restricting so if I even begin tracking even if it’s not restricting I know I will spiral. Even the idea of it caused me to unconsciously slip back into certain habits which I stopped as soon as I realized what I was doing. I just need some advice because I’ve come so far in recovery but I want to further my lifting journey too and I want to be able to do something I love without worrying about falling back into my ED.

PB discourse (season 10 spoilers tag cause I discuss multiple things throughout the shows seasons)

I love PB she is one of my favorite adventure time characters so when I learned people hated her guts I was pretty surprised. The biggest two arguments I see are the FP episode where she says they shouldn’t be together saying she was jealous. To me that just screams you didn’t watch the episode with your listening ears on because she wasn’t jealous, Jake kept insisting she was jealous and during her explanation Jake ignored it and just said she was jealous. Then people say what she said was going to happen didn’t happen but it factually did, her and Jake were able to stop it.
Then there is the Goliad episode where they say that PB’s dna is evil, which is wrong, it was how Jake taught her to control others and she took that to heart.
PB is still a bad person in the beginning , but I wouldn’t call her evil. Her arc and character development is learning empathy. She has to try to learn to let people fail around her. Plus I’ve literally seen people argue she lobotomized her first family but they tried to do it to her first so I don’t understand that argument???? She was lonely she missed being in the mother gum, she craved connection which is why she made the candy people.
Her struggle is her belief that she is the only one who is right and she doesn’t consider other peoples thoughts and feelings. I also don’t understand the argument that she groomed Finn? I remember the one scene where he tried laying on her lap and she instantly said “don’t make this weird” or something along those lines and got up and dipped. Her issue was she tried to let him down too lightly and he didn’t understand that she wasn’t rocking with him like that.
Again don’t get me wrong she is a bad person what she did to destroy the fire kingdom’s giants was like text book not a good person but I don’t think she is evil in the slightest I just don’t understand people who say they emphasize with the lich even more than her????? If you don’t like her you don’t like her but sometimes the takes I see are just wrong, like the her being jealous of FP and Finn. Even Goliad I can see the argument of maybe the dna is evil cause Finn’s dna was good(which is also because yk he is basically the reincarnation of the catalyst comet).
But yeah if you don’t like her that is whatever but some of the main talking points I hear confuse me. Plus I know I get overly defensive over her as a character because I relate to her in a way.
I think my only other beef is people who call her a fascist. Authoritarian? Yes. Running a surveillance state ore her shutting it off? Yes. Just by the definition of fascist she isn’t but that’s mainly cause I don’t like people calling things fascist when they aren’t cause then it dilutes what real fascism is. But that’s a whole other can of worms
TLDR: Bubblegum is a complex character and the fact I’ve seen people call her worse than Hitler and the lich as genuine takes confuses me

Bog witchy scarf patterns?

I have this huge thing of green yarn I want to use and I want it to be one color but I can’t find and spooky looking designs. I am also limited by straight needles that are like slightly less than a foot long.
Also yes I did look for some but I am going here to find other ideas cause I am picky.

Birth control spotting

Content warning just in case no one feels like reading about blood even if it’s only a little bit :p

I was late on two of my pills this month, I take BC because of my horrendous periods. Well I’m having break through bleeding but I feel like it’s lasting longer than normal. How long did your spotting last if you missed pills? For me it’s been around 4ish days, I even had a tiny clot pass through. Very minor cramping but nothing crazy. I just didn’t know if I should be worried or when I should see a doctor.

On my billionth rewatch

At the very end of the Simon and Marcy episode it’s the mother gum that brings Simon the chicken soup and while I don’t think it’s intentional from the beginning (Ice king loving pb is most likely because she’s the main princess) it makes me wonder if that’s why ice king is so attached to pb since to him the gum “saved” Marcy aka got her the chicken soup and it’s also when he first begins to TRULY be the ice king and not Simon with some crown side effects. That and I would save pb is the closest to Betty.

Finally properly leveled

My first play through I was severally under leveled. I was fighting for my life every boss fight and mini boss fight. Well I finally learned how to properly be decently leveled and well…I am cleaning the floor with every boss. I am definitely going to try a higher difficulty next time but oh my god this is so much earlier than my first play though. Like for mini bosses I killed auntie Ethel in one round without even cheesing anything. Then I just finished the Ketheric Thorne fight and because my first play though I was so under leveled I struggled a lot for that fight it made this one seem easy.

▲ 7 r/leaf

So the leaf looks like an amazing car and something I would love, I would need to buy it used. My problem is my commute is about 30-40 minutes just one way and I hear super mixed reviews on their range. I either hear that they are perfect and the person has never had any problems or that the range sucks and they resold it immediately. I’m just really nervous because this would be my first car I officially buy (my old one was one my grandparents never used and I’m shocked it even survived as long as it did). I’d even take recommendations for certain years if the Nissan leaf if you all have preferences, I would prefer it have proPILOT assist mainly for the convenience of it.

▲ 4 r/MedicalHelp+1 crossposts

First sorry for the bad quality photo I did my best. 19F, 115lb, 5 foot. Symptoms showed up yesterday when I woke up with a sore throat at first I thought it was bad allergies because I am known to have those and I also had a crappy congestion headache despite not having a runny or clogged nose. I can breath and swallow fine but my throat still hurts. I ran a temperature yesterday of 102 at the highest but it seems to stay between 98-101 fluctuating every once in a while. The first day I was sick my ears would also pop when I swallow if that means anything. Very minimal coughing, but I clear my throat from time to time. There is just discomfort and minor pain. The headache is gone and I’ve just been resting. I still have some pressure in my ears and while making this post I also got a bloody nose which is surprising mainly because I’ve never gotten one without getting hit in the nose but that might just be really dry air. Just want to know if I should go to a doctor or ride it out since if it’s strep I should probably get some antibiotics. Thank you so much sincerely broke college student who avoids going to the doctor because it’s so expensive.

Edit: I completely forgot to add I am on dupixent which is also an immunosuppressant
