"Cry it out" weaning? 12m/o

I have stopped producing for weeks, but my soon 12 month still requires boob at night for soothing. Usually once, sometimes twice. He doesn't take bottle or pacifier

We were gonna do a 4 night "intervention" since husband has a few days extra off.

Tonight I've we were awake for 3 hours straight. He wouldn't settle without the boob and we tried everything. Offering water, rocking, hushing and singing, white noise, nothing worked. He would fall asleep and wake up without me even attempting to put him down.

The last 10 minutes I tried to just lay down with him on my chest and stroke his back but he cried so hard he started hyperventilating and dry coughing.

Thats when I caved in and offered the boob.

He is too young to just cry it out with me holding him, right? He can't regulate himself yet? I need confirmation

I'm getting desperate

I have an 11 month old who eats solids. He doesn't nurse at all the entire day, from about 7am to 10pm. My milk has basically dried up but I can't get him to fall asleep at night without nursing

Sometimes he wakes up 3-4 times per night and I am exhausted. It hurts when he feeds because there is barely any milk at all.

We co-sleep in our own room due to partners snoring, he works full time and I am on maternity leave for a few more weeks before I go back to studying.

I usually rock him gently in bed, and the first time at night is usually dramatic, but he sleeps within 10 minutes. He doesn't use a pacifier and never has

The second time is usually 1,5-2,5 hours after, and is a 50/50 whether he will manage to fall asleep without the breast or not.

I tried to force him not to nurse once and it ended in hysterical crying for almost 30 minutes before I "gave up", and he became quiet the moment he got the breast.

He starts daycare in less than 3 weeks, and I will have to start getting up early, so I can't sleep in like I do now.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks? All advice is welcome

Thank you 🫶

This year's batch of polish pickles

Polish fermented pickles, recipe courtesy by my polish grandma.

They are supposed to last until Christmas as they are an ingredient for her "polish salad", so I experimented with both 3% and 5% salt. I am thinking of attempting to pasteurize the small jar after fermentation, just to see how long they last before becoming soggy.

If I understood it correctly, the 5% will slow down the fermentation and make the cucumbers firm for longer. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

They're flavoured with horseradish, garlic and crown dill.

The medium sized jar holds 0,9L and has ~15g of horseradish, 4 garlic cloves and a (small) crown dill. The small jar half of that and the big ones double that.

Floor pissing

Hi!

First off, I'm aware that potty training generally speaking isn't a thing until about 18 months since they can't control their needs at this age

However, I've been "potty training" my son since he was around 3 months, starting with holding him over the toilet for poops. Now he's 11,5 months and have for a month been sitting on a potty seat mounted on my toilet. Its worked out great, but he has since then discovered his penis.

I have never cleaned so much piss off my floor or child in my life. As soon as I place him on the toilet, he grabs his penis and pisses in 7 different directions at once. It gets on his thighs, his belly, his hand, the floor, the toilet seat, me- everywhere.

Does anyone have any clue on how to stop this? Its impossible to just removes his hands because he just gets mad. I try distracting him with various toys or objects but that often ends with piss covered stuff or (at worst) toys in the toilet. I can't exactly reason with him due to his age.

Thanks in advance

Wheres the poop!?

This is my hognose Snaykee. He is small and eats every 4-5 days, but I can't for the love of anything find his poop??

Thrice I've found some on the surface and removed it. I got lots of live plants and hides in his tank, and I feel like he just gets mad if I move stuff around. How bad is it to leave in?

Thanks!!

Breasts have dried up, can I start full fat cow's milk?

My child is 11 months in 5 days. Lately he has been weaning by himself and my tits have noticably begun to stop producing. Its very little, and he only breastfeeds for comfort before naps and bedtime, as well as during the night as we co-sleep. It has started being uncomfortable for me as half the time he switches breast every few seconds. He has never had a bottle before, nor milk replacement and we started BLW at 6 months.

I read that you should feed cows milk before 12, but he is almost there. He eats a varied diet, what we eat (with no salt), and oatmeal porridge with iron enriched powder and a little bit of milk for breakfast and before bed.

Could cow's milk start being a replacement for tittymilk? My pediatrician's office is closed for the weekend.

Thanks in advance

Carrier recommendations with pelvic pain

Hi all.

My baby is soon 11 months old and LOVES his forward facing carrier. Unfortunately its only his dad that can carry him due to me having pelvic pain following the birth. It gets worse when I carry heavy. I feel that a carrier with a lot of hip support could work well?

Does anyone with a similar issue have any suggestions?

I'm also relatively short, 157/5'2".

Thanks so much in advance

Terrarium upgrade

Opinions?

I installed a UVB light (thanks to everyone who pointed out he needed it) and some new plants. It ended up quite nice if you ask me. Pic 3 is before remodeling.

I have also dried some birch leaves that I'm thinking of adding, but I feel like that would be TOO cluttered.

The plants I have is Muehlenbeckia Complexa, climbing on the branches, Beaucarnea Recurvata, the big one in the middle, Callisia repens, the short ones in the background and a Sansevieria in the front.

All hiding places are DIY with real, boiled rocks and terrarium safe foam. Its a 45L aquarium as for now. A 250L is waiting.

I'd love to hear what y'all think!

He yearns for freedom

60 seconds sped up to 10. He was very upset he no longer could escape through the lid.

He kept going for another 2 minutes but only saved one sadly

Bath time

"Hes pretty cute, but I still dont like him" - my boyfriend (post snake-in-pants incident)

u/TopYou9138 — 1 month ago

Is this stress?

So, per my last post my boyfriend got me surveillance since he escaped twice (even though I escape proofed his enclosure). I now get notifications whenever he is out and about, and noticed he does this behaviour several times a day, for about a minute each time.

Its always that wall as well as the wall to the left (of the picture). Im concerned it is stress, that he yearns for freedom.

Is this normal? It looks like he is trying to dig out of there. The backside is the only blackened side, it is a 45L aquarium, which seems small but he is absolutely TINY.

Thanks in advance?
