My FreeCAD project, how did I do?

Hello, Because I wanted to get free from educational licence for at least some projects, I've decided to give freecad a chance. For now I used mostly Fusion360. I'd be thankfull if you checked my project and told me how did I do. (link on the bottom)

It was a re-design of model, I've already done in fusion but with some improvements. After initial issues with sketchs modelling went pretty smooth, tho I dislike lack of "offset face" tool, I used in fusion quite a lot. I really like how sketches do auto-crossection, but I couldn't find general crosssection tool. Another thing that gave me a headache was measure tool, especially fact, that you cannot use it while in sketch.

I've tried to make my model parametric and name the feature tree, but at some point I gave up as it took too much time. Hovever, I've used configuration table for drawers and handle.

Later on I'll try to do variant of the main part with engineered supports for 3d printing.

Assemlby is whole other story. It took me a while, to figure out, how to handle configuration of components, but I've done it. however creating joints was a pain. First, lack of pin in a slot joint, which made me do handle only symblically swivel. Then for some reason top compartment started gliching out and now is basically welded shut. I also disliked how I could only change configured part to wireframe and not every component/

Generally it was better than I feared. Some things like separation of commands into additive and subractive took some time to adapt but after that was intuitive. I also like how fraft angle works in here over fusion.

I think, I will use for projects, I want to publish, but for my private ones, I'll keep using fusion. However when I watched last week's stream, it seems to fix about 1/3 of my issues.

Here's link to my project, would be thankfull if you took a look and told me that I've done well and what poorly. Mostly focusing on use of FreeCad rather than design itself.

Can't mirror pattern nor pattern mirror?

I am in part design workflow and am currently adding rails for drawers for my part. I have created one rail, then want to mirror it to the other side and then pattern for amount of drawers, I want. However I cannot choose mirror as a feature in pattern nor pattern as a feature in mirror.

I am not sure, what to do? mirror at sketch stage before pad and chamfer?

I have large amount (>50) of old disposable vapes with lipo cells. How do I check which cells are still good?

Hi, because I have heavy smokers in my family, I have gotten quite some disposable vapes from them, mostly around a year ago.

I wonder, what is best way to check, if their lipo cells are still usefull. Will just checking if voltage is in safe range enough?

Other than multimeter i also have microcontroller based lipo charger, that has internal reistance checking option.

Then, can I just parraler connect cells to make bigger one if I need or is there something more to it?

thank you in advance for advice

Mistranslation in polish edition made me think, there was one more abyssal

I've been re reading series from the beginning lately and I remembered one awakened number 1 not being discussed that much.

The one in Ophiela arc. Even the wiki left it as some "unnamed awakened being"

It made me kinda change the way I thing about awakened number 1's, seeing how easily Ophiela killed one.

However I felt, somethings wrong. And turns out it was a mistranslation. In polish it says "Your target will be our ex number 1" and in this unofficial English version it says about just single digits.

If anyone has either official English or even better japaneese (based on some other translation choices, Polish version seems to be translated directly rather than from English version) version and could confirm, I'd be thankfull

Dauf is strongest non-bulshit power character

Title is a bit of clickbait, but it mostly encsapsulates, what I think.

At some point in the story, 90% of opponent is just levels to "wow, we can't even touch them, they're too op" or "wow that super powerfull opponent was just evaporated by this new thing"

And I like those fights, they're exciting and written well, but Dauf just kits different. Yes, he's kind of stupid, but fights with him always feel so grounded, yet still he outmatches claymores despite their astronomical progress. And I like him for that

Is there a way to queue chats?

I am quite new to it, i run odysseus trough docker on windows and all my local models trough ollama (couldn't get llama.cpp ones to work)

My machune is not that good, so I wonder if there is an option to write to like 4-5 chats with biggest model my pc will pull, then go to sleep and odysseus handles queue on it's own?

I know that there's queue for deep research, but I'd like to see same for normal chats

Giving oils a try, not really sure if I like them

I am in the middle of painting a mini, I decided to try using oil paints. I've found a cheap set in supermarket.

I have slightly thinned them and try to use two brush method, I've found on the internet.

I created gradients on pallete, then use one brush, damp with white spirit to put paint on, then after some time use dry brush to blend the colors.

However it seems that blending takes off too much paint and it looks like slightly tinted underpaint

I think, I am happy with my results now

I've done some small changes to obscure nox 2.0 profile (this was at 0.8 layer and I enabled z contouring)

I am really happy with result. It was printed in 3 pieces. Body and each hand separately. Only bad element Imo is outer side of rifle.

I've primed it with Mr surfacer 1200, added black wash then drybrushed with off-white.

I expected drybrush to make layer lines more visible, but they aren't

Figure has been scaled to have eye level at 28mm, it is about chest height compared to regular space marine

Trying to figure out claymores armor (latter half has spoilers from around timeskip)

I am trying to figure out how claymores armor is constructed.

Obviously shoulder pads and skirt are metal. Former makes sense, lot's of strikes downward.

Skirt however would only make sense if middle part was armored. Unless some vital point is in pelvis that I've missed.

Next middle part. On first glance it is just white fabric, but it holds metal parts for carrying the claymore on the back, also in early chapters we can see that it is firm when teresa is undressing.

I didn't see claymores do ab crunching too much, so it may have been plate armor. At least partially, however it is undone on the shoulders (ties covered by shoulder pieces, so it seems like it is important for it to not be undone)

Spoiler chapter 15 (tersa backstory)

However during both attempted rapes on Teresa it seems to behave just like fabric, so there may not be anything there and stiffness was just from claymore carrying part.

But then why armored skirt.

Spoiler chapter 1-2 and 5-11 (beginning till holy city)

In chapter 2 we can see that armored bracelets are effective at defending against normal demons and during cathedral fight we see that armor helps even against particularly strong normal demons (when Clare is impaled when not wearing any armor demon fingers go trough, however when same demon attacks city guard in full plate armor, his fingers only go in and not out, which suggests that armor is somewhat effective.

It further suggests that middle part of armor is just fabric as in hostage situation with fake claymore in the beginning, normal demon impales Clare without any issue.

Spoilers War in the north/time skip

As we learn that claymores are made put of special super alloy that is impervious to any form of physical damage and doesn't even need sharpening (I am at chapter 100rn, if anything destroys the blade later let me know).... don't you think it would have been pretty damn good idea to use it as armor? It would be so strong that even awakened beings would have to fight around it.

Only proof from back of my head about claymore's armor being from standard/weaker metal is that I remember shield bracelets being broken by opponent at some point. I have no idea where tho.

I assume, they use that metal a lot in the main war, which would greatly reduce effectivenes of everything we see up until like chapter 100.

Furthermore, it would make sense to use that metal to non claymore organisation forces to even out the odds in some situations even if we don't want to give it to claymores.

Next, after timeskip I have no idea what armor is made out of, it looks almost fully soft, maybe hardened leather in places where metal would be. That is shoulders and bottom of the skirt.

What do you think about that? Do you have any resources that would help with it?

My first attempt at obscura nox's settings

Machine: Bambulab P1S 0.2mm nozzle

Filament: Yayo PLA meta

I am quite happy with the results supports were easier than I thought to remove but still i broke off 2 small pieces.

Antenna on top didn't print correctly and there was some stringing.

Filament was dry, but not really calibrated

Macie jakieś miejscówki/społeczności do polecenia?

▲ 5 r/Anki

Exam season is near, so I decided to lock in on anki. Customising helped a lot with focus.

So, exam season started on monday, so I decided to take learning more seriously. Anki helped me in the past, but this time I installed add-ons (onigiri and auto-sync) to make ui bit nicer.

I still have hard time focusing for long time but it's way better than it was.

Also I guess, I could do better if I improved my way of "making flashcards"

As of now, I export material from older classes, previous exams, and scripts and ask ai to generate anki compatible csv file. I also use quizlet extractor.

Do you have any tips for me?

charging hv with non hv charger

i have bought 3s lipohv from tattu.

My charger is redox alpha v2, which is quite old and doesn't have hv mode.

I have question, how can I semi securely use full potential of it.

From my elecronics knowledge, I would first balance charge it in normal lipo mode, then setup nimh mode at 0.1A current, when watch voltage on all cells and turn charger off once it goes to 4.35/cell

Is there any better way?

EDIT: i just discovered, there is custom firmware for those chargers

Abs bed adhesion quick tip

Ive struggled with abs on my P1S for a long time. After some experiments, what helped was setting 1st layer temperature to 275.

I took that idea from tips on nylon, it makes it melt more and adapt to grooves of pei plate.

Now I actually hear unsticking sound when lifting print rather than just lifting it up

Custom traction control algorithm?

I want to make a custom vehicle, where all wheels are powered.

I want to make some traction control algorithm, but I am not sure, how to best approach it.

My current idea:

Main controller controls separate esc for each motor. ESC has current feedback. MC compares expected rpm for given speed to current, which should be linear to torque. If current drops below expected range, it means, that wheel has started spinning too fast i.e. a slip.

If slip is detected, we lower speed given to motor compared to one that's ordered.

However. If we lower PWM frequency enough, it will cause torque impulses, which compared to smotths torque could improve grip. Kind of how low mount of cylinders is preffered in motocross or how yamaha uses crossplane crankshaft.

What do you think, what other approaches could you reccomend?

Best way to get into new library?

(I am talking mostly about python, but idk if that's revelant)

As I slowly move toward practical projects, I often need/want to use some library that I've never used before. I don't know what functions it has, some functions are hidden deep inside documentation or not even there, etc..

For my last project (where I first used sympy) I tried using documentation, and managed to get some code working, but quickly stopped being able to find methods, I need. So I turned to AI, when I asked it for something, it spat some code out, it made me learn about new function. About half the time code was rubbish/not exactly what I wanted, so I reworked it anyway. Once I had access to definition of function, it was easier.

Now... what would be your reccomendations to tackle simmilar problems next time?
