Grinding/humming sound from the front brake

Grinding/humming sound from the front brake

This has been a bit of an annoyance since day of owning my 2025 1300GS - anytime I come to a complete stop with the front brakes, it hum/grinds like a rusty old truck - it’s pretty loud and annoying. My 2023 Triumph Tiger had this same exact issue. Is there any way to mitigate this? I only have 1800miles so far so I don’t ideally want to bother changing the brake pads.

However, if there’s a recommendation for better pads than the factory, open to hearing. Thanks!

ADP check

I don’t see many ADP posts so just wanted to run mine by the community. Do ADPs get faked much? I see their prices being almost half at discounters, hence I was wondering if these are genuinely so heavily discounted or could there be a gamble in some cases.

Databricks Post sales Sr. Solutions Architect interview upcoming

Greetings folks - I'm an ex-SA with decent bit of DevOps, enterprise Greenfield sales engineer experience and backend dev experience. I've not interviewed in a few years so looking for some pointers on what to expect. First round seems to be HM.

I've heard theres presentation rounds, is this true for Sr. SA positions post sales as well? If so, whats the best way to prep for this.

I personally dont have much Databricks experience directly but mostly used NoSQL DBs and Python - what kind of coding proficiency tests should I expect?

And finally - any heads up on culture or general quality of this type of a role at Databricks?

Thanks!

Pivoting from backend/cloud software to Hardware or firmware engineering? - Anyone done this?

I've been exploring alternate or slight switch in my existing career path as I'm not really getting the satisfaction and job security lately at the place I currently work (backend dev architect). Academically I've been trained in EE with focus on Digital design and later in medical imaging.

However all my career has been in cloud software engineering and devops related roles. Lately I've been thinking of alternatives to pursue, with drastic career options to something that seems more in-line with background like Hardware engineering.

I've always had fascination for EE hardware design and digital design (I have worked on verilog, benchmarking processors etc academically and have that foundation). Whats a good job profile in hardware engineering in places like Apple, Micron, AMD etc that I could have some potential in with perhaps some brushing up on concepts for an interview. I'm assuming I'll have to down-level but hoping its not a complete start from the bottom.

What are the things recruiters or managers would be looking for if they encounter someone like me (from a skillset standpoint or offering what other hardware folks may not be able to offer).

Would also love to hear from other who have done this and what their experience was.

Bvlgari Tygar Packaging

I’ve recently discovered and loved the Bvlgari Tygar fragrance so I decided to buy a backup bottle.

I bought it from Neiman Marcus and noticed that these bottles don’t come sealed - I had the rep show me multiple boxes and they all can just be opened. Also on couple of them I noticed the on side of the internal bracing being folded in not sure why.

This bottle being opaque no way to see the level - perhaps I could measure the weight but I don’t know what the known weight is for a full bottle.

Maybe I’m being too anal, but just wanted a casual discussion if this happens with other brands as well and how big box stores like Neiman ensure nothing is wrong with them during storage or transit with the absence of seals. Cheers!

CISSP / CCSP training - Experienced engineer

Greetings - I'm currently researching both these certs (CISSP and CCSP). I'm strongly leaning towards CISSP as it seems to be more universally recognized.

All the posts I'm seeing about people who passed have a long laundry list of trainings and materials. I'm a tad confused which ones to use. To give you a background I have 10+ years working in the cloud and backend software/devops engineering. I've held AWS SA, CloudOps and Dev associate certs and have experience with basic cloud, Linux OS and network security. I already have a CISSP co-worker who would be able to sign off on the experience requirement.

Given this background whats 1 or two online trainings that would relaibly cover all modules and maybe 1 practice test that yall could recommend

Would appreciate any other tips for prep. I hope to take the cert in a month or so (I prefer short term intense prep than prepping over a long time). Cheers!

Switching careers to healthcare in 40s?

I’ve worked in tech and have BS and Ms degrees in EE. With focus on medical imaging and acquisition research with NMR.

However out of college just the way things worked out I’ve been in the cloud engineering and backend dev roles for the last 10+ years.

Lately I’ve not been feeling great about my role. I’ve also had a fascination and passion for medicine since a while.

I wanted to know what are some medical or especially radiology or nuclear medicine related career paths I could explore at this age. I’m open to enrolling into a degree program part time or in the evenings. I’m assuming cracking MCAT and going through the traditional path toward MD or DO is probably not feasible (I don’t think I have it in me to put up with another 8-10years in academia and residency).

Would love to get some advice on what I could explore or if someone in my situation has made any successful or unsuccessful attempts at this. Cheers

The collection so far

Fairly new in the hobby - but after recently experiencing some of these premium fragrances and understanding better ways to acquire them I’m pretty hooked. Not to mention this community’s posts constantly keeping motivated these days.

I’ve landed on BDC, GIT and TDH Givree as my daily. Haltane, Absolu Aventus and ADP oud as 1-2 times a week. Bvlgari Tygar as special occasion wear.
I have bought backup bottles for some of these that really like. Especially the ADP oud is just so unique.
Would appreciate suggestions on which ones to rapidly use up (I’ve heard citrus ones don’t stay too good long term).

Next on my wish list is Bvlgari Gyan, Amouage Royal tobacco, Marc Antoine 683, LV Ambre levant, Byredo Bal d’Afrique. Maybe Aventus and LV imagination but they are low on my list.

Open to any other suggestions given my preferences so far.

I recently discovered and bought PDM Haltane 6.8oz bottle from a discounter. I’m really liking this one along with ADP Oud, Tygar, BDC Parfum and GIT. I already got a second bottle for ADP Oud and BDC Parfum at a decent discount. now debating if I should do the same for Creed GIT, Tygar and Haltane.

I’m sure prices on these go up over time so was curious if it’s a good idea to snag another bottle and keep it.

I’ll be using these maybe 1-2times a week with 3-4 sprays each time, but not exactly sure how long each bottle would last given this usage pattern.
Would the second bottle have decent shelf life ? If so, how long? Or is it not worth it?

I’m new to premium fragrances and have just recently started exploring them.

After reading so much about the Costco sale on the Absolu Aventus and recently liking GIT, I blind bought these two.

Oh man, I’m loving this, I’m slowly understanding the hype of these premium fragrances. This and the Tygar are probably gonna be my top special occasion bottles.

Edit: since many are curious, second bottle was supposed to be a gift (if I ended up like this one given all the hype and the good price)

(Ugh typos in the title: New addi(c)tion to my newly found love for fragrances )

Likely the most I’ve ever spent on a single bottle. I ended up buying it at Neiman with a 15% discount as the discounters didn’t have it in stock and the price I saw it for was not much lower. My wallet hurts but hopefully this will last me a few years (not a daily driver)

This and the Gyan are two I instantly fell in love with. They both smell different than a traditional fresh men’s fragrance. I love the bottles and presentation too, it probably the nicest fragrance bottle I’ve ever held.

I’m new to this and don’t have all of the experiences with fine fragrances, the tygar stood out to me between the 20-30 skin and test strip trials I did in the last month.

I might also get the Gyan and Orom (need to pick which one better compliments this one and the other I already have) cheers!

I’ve had a decent relationship with my AD over the last 4 years or so. I’ve bought a Tudor Bb and couple of longines and an oyster steel sub from them (all brand new). They had offered me the left sprite GMT twice and I declined as it didn’t appeal to me. I’ve always told them the oyster Daytona regardless of bezel color is my next preference (I’ve told them that since the last 2 years or so, but haven’t yet got “the call” for a Daytona). I may also be interested in the Batman but think it’s too similar to the sub. I know the GMT is still an iconic watch.

Wanted to gauge how realistic it is to expect to get a Daytona with the purchase history and current supply chain. If offered a GMT Batman, is that still a good buy?
