Is holding the bow sideways in any historical context?

Like I am wondering because I feel like in a lot of games I observe characters holding a bow sideways instead of straight. Is there any historical context to this or just to make it easier to animate?

Obviously I get that when you're sneaking low to the ground holding the bow sideways might be necessary because of space but I don't see any reason why it should be held that way when standing outside of style points I guess?

I am currently planning a Archery% playthrough of all 3 games.

And I need you help in figuring out some stuff. Obviously some of it I can look up by myself and plan accordingly but you guys have knowledge that might be beyond me.

I have played and finished all 3 games including DLC before. But am usually a Greatsword user. So this is a new one for me.

What I need is:

  • Where to find the best bows and arrows?
  • What would be a good backup weapon in case a bow kill is not possible or I run out of arrows (keep it in theme)?
  • What bosses could I struggle with with just Bow and Arrow?
  • What stats should I prioritize?
  • What Route through the game makes most sense (I want to kill every boss anyway)?
  • What are some of the things I should know about bow in the game?

Because it's going to be streamed, I would like to prepare before I jump in off the deep end. Thanks for your coopoeration!

Compound Archery is weird to me so far

Let me state first that I am still very much a beginner and I only shoot Recurve so far.

At my club we prepared and held a tournament today which I helped set up and something bothered me.

It's just the way compound bows shoot is just way more precise than everything else, which kind of makes the score just way too high. I noticed with recurve you get wildly different results based on the skill of the archer.

For some reason also the people of the club seem to dislike compound archers for some reason.

This is just my observation from the tournament. It was fun setting up and meeting so many people in the field that you can talk to.

This is getting ridiculous.

I am trying to get Lava Nuggets because apparently every Switchaxe upgrade path possible requires Lava Nuggets.

Bro after leaving the lava literally walked up to me and immediately went into rage mode. He literally was so clumsy he made himself mad.

And no I didn't get a single Lava Nugget in the Quest rewards..

Any recommendations of episodes to download?

I have a 10 hour drive tomorrow and I'd love to download some episodes of the podcast to keep me company.

Got any recommendations of the really good ones? I would love to listen to something less recent and amazing.

I just now realized how much I miss the shows

I have been fine for since the show went offline but now it just hit me how much I miss the shows and they are part of my daily life.

I don't watch the shows live because they air when I'm literally asleep. But every day during work I just put on the VOD of the main show and then listen to After Dark right after.

I just now realized what a huge void that has left as I'm literally searching for other content to consume while working.

These kinds of Balance updates have been happening a lot back then

I just now realize that there's a lot of people who never experienced Guild Wars Balance patches.

Don't whine because a strategy you have been using for 10 years suddenly doesn't work anymore. Find new builds and ways to break the game.

Back in the day I always loved these balance patch days because I could go around and find new build possibilities. It's a sign that Guild Wars is back to being healthy again and I welcome it.

Am I dense or is the mobile version not up in Germany yet?

I just checked and still tells me it's pre registered but not released yet. I can't download it.

What is the proper Breathing Technique?

Hey guys,

recently my Coach and I were working on my technique, because I still shoot a little too cramped. The goal is to get my breathing more relaxed and make shooting a more Zen experience.

From what he told me the proper technique is to breathe in as you raise your bow arm, then breathe out as you draw back. Once I aimed properly he told me to not linger more than 3 seconds.

The reason I am asking is because of circumstances out of my control there are no trainings for another month (the range needs to be prepped for a tournament and the coaches can't be there for a major amount of time.

I am allowed to go to the range by myself during that time and train for myself, but I want to make sure I have the proper technique down before I practice it.

PS: I am not taking part in the tournament, I am still too much of a beginner and the spots are already filled out.

Is there a tool to track the weapon tree in the game?

As much as I love the game, I don't really enjoy the upgrade system as much. For me it's quite difficult to track what weapons I do have and which not (I like grinding out the weapon trees in every MH game I play)

Is there a tool that I can easily track which weapons I already have and which not that also displays the tree in itself?

How can I even get into Detective Conan again?

As a prelude, I am from Germany. I think a lot of people will understand the issue immediately.

I was trying to get back into the series after having dropped it about 10 years ago because nothing was available anywhere.

How do I even get back into the series? I can't find where to even read the manga (I would need to start from finish) and in terms of anime only the first 480 or so episodes are on crunchyroll. I watched those for now but I really want to follow the series up to date.

It is one of my favourites but the whole licensing bullshit on Germany can fuck right off.

The thing that irritates me the most about Leftist grifters like Hasan

Is how apologizing is seen as showing weakness and showing kindness to someone you dislike is seen as losing.

The fact that Ethan has to sue a lot of leftist creators to just get an apology out of them is abysmal. It was always the case that if any of these creators sincerely apologized, Ethan would drop the lawsuits in a heartbeat.

But appareantly being on the left means you need to be sued to ever apologize and make things right if you did something wrong. That to me is one of the most destructive mindsets and also why I dislike the Hasan bubble so much (he basically uses the same tactics here that learned from Destiny btw.).

Apologizing and making things right should be the most human thing imaginable. We teach it to our kids at a very young age. I don't see how it portraits weakness or "losing an argument"

[KCD1][KCD2] I made Kingdom Come Soup

Made this for a party this weekend and halfway through it realized it basically looks like the stuff Henry gets to eat in KCD1.

It's basically just a stew of root vegetables like the peasants had back in the day

As a German who lives in the deepest part of provincial Bavaria, I say keep the horn around

I find it extremely funny. You guys are just weak. Ethan is having fun so let him do it.

I'm trying to rekindle my love for MH and noticed I never did a GU Playthrough with Switchaxe

Basicall title. Switchaxe is my main weapon for each MH game but for some reason not GU?

Can you guys suggest me styles and Hunter arts which are best for Swaxe? I have been trying Valor and it seems fine so far.

I just wish I could go full "this feels like old school Swaxe" tbh.

Currently working on a Playthrough stream series on both GW1&2 and I need help figuring some stuff out

I am currently planning a Playthrough series of both Guild Wars games but I want to do it in a special way. The thing is GW2 is much clearer on how I would do it since the commander is THE person the story follows but GW1 is kind of different.

GW1's story follow more a journey of a whole band of heroes across Tyria rather than 1 person.

My current suggestion is making a character in Prophecies of each class (6 characters total) and making this seem more like a journey of these 6 together with the NPCs rather than focusing on 1. That also means a whole ton of effort on my part to replay all of the events with every character. Do you guys think there is a way to make this more efficient?

Once I get to Cantha and Elona the path is a lot clearer. Cantha and Leona will focus on 2 characters of each class and I will make the Prophecies characters into Heroes that journey with us rather than their own characters.

The main draw for me is to make this Playthrough as story focused as possible for both games since for me the world and story has been my main draw for enjoying these games. Also it lets me maybe finish it before next year when GW3 rolls around.

Showing off my haul from the other day!

I made a post about going to the archery shop the other day but I forgot to actually show off what I got!

I have to say this is my first actual bow, I only ever shot with club bows before!
