england new tenancy agreement - landlords want to use just move in

Hello,

in the new assured periodic tenancy agreement, the landlord obligates to use the just move in service, which is a free (to the tenant) service to switch all the utilities and council tax to my name without me doing anything.

I have issues in the past with a different service doing the same function and I don't want this to happen again.

I am happy to provide all the documentation of my switch.

Can I oppose this? under which terms? the agent already said it's mandatory, but i cannot find any legal binding for this

Thanks

Saddle heating pad

Hi, in another post I mentioned I'm about to DIY fit a gel pad on my saddle.

I have a OEM heated seat, and I'm expecting to find a heating pad glued to the foam, so I'll probably won't be able to reuse it, fingers crossed!

In case I can't do you know where I can get a spare pad? I'm looking at aliexpress, but they all come "assembled" into a pillow.

I can find plenty originally designed for 3d printers, but I'm not sure it's a good idea 1, for the flexibilty, and 2 for the waterproof.

When I went to the upholsterer, I saw she's got plenty of plastic sheets with the metal wire, she said she would replace mine with one of those... I can't find them!

right mirror shakes

Bike is a voge ds900x. Left mirror is ok, no vibrations that makes it blurry, the one that I use the most.

The right mirror shakes a bit, and it's noticeably blurrier that the left.

Is there something I can do about this?

Update to avoid silly answers: the mirror isn't loose, it's the vibration of the bar. What's not clear to me is why the two sides would vibrate differently

gel pad on seat

Hi,

I've watched a few vids and I'm considering modding my stone-made saddle to fit one of those blue gel pads.

I have already tried the add on pillows, but they are not working.

This is also the kind of mod a professional upholstered proposed me, but she asked for 300 quids and i am not in the position to spend that much on the seat. I gathered materials for about 50 quids, but before I proceed, I wanted to check feedbacks on who has done this already, rather manually or had it done.

I'm looking for feedbacks on the gel pad itself. The one I'm going with is probably this, or something similar. 1cm thick, with some thin foam on top, and keep the original cover.

I'm fat, is this going to help? do you reckon I should go for the 2cm thickness instead? Are there any other kinds of gel I should look at, instead?

Is it ok to just carve the pad or should I also change the foam for a softer one? I'm not sure it makes any difference since my butt is on the pad anyway

Thanks

England, new renters bill, background checks

I'm considering escalating the issue to the Ombudsman (or other competent organ, haven't checked yet), but first I'll ask here.

Trying to rent a property, coming from another rent. The new renting agency uses let alliance. we are renting as a couple, so we both went through the same checks. also, we are both in the previous tenancy, so we uploaded the same documents.

My partner had her residential checks done almost instantly, mine have been on hold for 2 weeks.

I enquired several times, they said the previous agent has not replied.
I called the previous agent, they said they have not received anything.
You got the idea.

There seem to be no time limit in previous residential checks to come through, and we're supposed to start the new tenancy in weeks.
None of them is at fault, as always, but I suffer the concequences.

This isn't making much sense to me, as my partner got her checks, for the same previous property and agent, done instantly.

I will write one last email, with all them in cc, asking them to figure it out as apparently I cannot help any of them. Is this a matter that the controlling organ would pick up, in case I need it?

I've only been riding (in this country) for a few months, but I'm tired already.

The bikers cafe is just marketing. Expensive food that should be sold at less than half the price. Bad facilities. Most of them are self declared bikers cafe but what do they do for bikers, exactly?

Where is it written that bikers are happy to eat crap?

These days I believe there are very few 'outlaws' bikers, if there ever were.

Isn't it time to step things up a notch?

Woukd you guys stop doing to the same places and give them money to receive shit food, please? Can we send a message?

Why aren't there more things like the adventure bike festival, really offering value for the money (note I haven't been, but on the paper it looks great)?

I can't believe the average biker in this country is happy to do always the same things, go to the same places that all look the same.

Don't mean to offend anyone but ffs, it's depressing.

Hi,

I'm currently using a generic bag from aliexpress, one of those that you strap on the handlebar, and leverages the fact the handlebar has the recessed shape. It has two compartments and a cover that wraps around it, with a clear space for the phone.

I'm really happy with it, I place my phone, charger cable and disc lock in it, and occasionally the sun glasses... all amazing. but it's not waterproof.

It's very similar to this one

I'm looking for recommendations, or ideas, on other bags I can use.

If there is a version of this that's waterproof I'm happy to go with it. It's very convenient to have right in front of me and doesn't preclude movement of visibility. I found this one, but it's a bit different from mine and it seems quite small from the review pictures

Alternatively, I saw bags you strap to your leg. It seems overkill, but if there's a small version i might consider.

The bag to attach to the fuel tank lid it's too much: it would be on the way on my bike (bmw gs), and I simply don't need that much space

Thanks!

Hi there!

Just discovered this group, and since it's time to buy supplies, I might as well ask for support!

We have two babies, boy and girl, both neutered and about to turn 1 yo.

We've been very careful in their diet. They are very healthy, and we want to keep them so.

For months I've been giving them:

  • brekkie - dry kibbles, salmon, from Lily's kitchen
  • lunch - same
  • dinner - wet food from Applaws. Almost all the flavours they made, in rotation. Like this.
  • We're probably around 180g/day/cat

They are happy with these kibbles. We tried a few others but toward the end of the bag (2kg) they noticeably refrain from hoovering the plate. The wet food, we also tried many others, allegedly better than this, but they smell horrible and they don't like them. This seemed to me the best bet between meat content and added rubbish

I was worried it was too much food, but they are not overweight and generally always have appetite. They eat relatively slowly, coming back later to the plate.

I noted, though, they are getting a bit bored of all this chicken, and the same flavours.

So I wanted to introduce something new. I found Rosie's brand, which I plan to alternate to applaws.

I was initially going for Wild Freedom, but this lady, who seems to be competent and honest, says it's not the best.

While indeed I am looking to spend the less possible, there's no price for the health of my kids, so if there are other shops offering better food but more expensive, I'm happy to try!

Cheers,

Hello, ok I'm new to the topic, so be patient.

Good weather is almost here, I want to prepare and do a nice trip.

I tried riding with others, and while I still want to try (the sample was too small to have a verdict) I think I'm not that kind of person.

So I went on google and looked for self guided tours.

I am happy to pay someone that had figured it all out already, but I don't understand why they want me to get their hotels and some even wants to send me gear. I don't need it.

Send me a gmaps route, a PDF with everything I need to know, and be done with it, no?

Why is this format so strict? I must be missing something.

EDIT: ok let me be clear. I want to pay someone that has done the ride already. the format should be a gmaps route, or alternative, with a pdf or other sort of guide. in the guide, it'd be nice to find something like:

  • tips for the ride. aim at this, avoid that, etc
  • where to stay the night for multi-day trips. in the form of a location, not hotels. or they can also provide a suggested list of accomodations, that's fine
  • things worth to stop for on the road. cafes, restaurants, interesting things, activities, what not
  • things that are worth drifting from the route for

Can you point me to anyone that's offering what I'm looking for?

thanks
