Great amount of micrope***es in this city!

I've only been here 2 months+ but can't help in noticing how many there are!

How I know? Easy. I live close to the A5 and you can hear them with their farting cars and bikes (and mind you, I ride a 900 too, but you can't hear me).

Some even enjoy going up and down multiple times. Day and night, week days and weekends.

How come there's not a single speed camera in this city? I would imagine is the easiest money to make no?

IO3 deactivate timer

Hi, just got this from my dentist. Surprised to see it doesn't have bluetooth, while my old school oral-b electric did. But it's fine as it's useless, anyway.

The one thing I liked was that via the app I could deactivate the 2mins timer: is there a way to do that on the IO3 too?

Bucks to Venice in 5 days?

I only have 5 days. My first overnight moto trip. Will be riding solo, it's how I do things: head first 😂

Will I be able to do it? I want to take the train, possibly avoid France at least for one of the legs and want to do the passes on the dolomites. Stay at hotels, no camping, and at family once there. Happy to do motorway to speed things up, but don't want to ride too may hours

What about Spada and Shima?

I don't think i've seen any post about these two brands since I've been following this subred, about a year now.

I have Spada Jeans, Hoodie and over waterproof over trousers, and I'm happy with them all. There is a slight compromise in materials, meaning my hoodie could be less heavy, but for the price it costs it's just a really really good garment. Same for the jeans.

Shima, on the other hand, I have not tried. I got a vented jacket for the wife for that 1 time she comes along, and I have to say it is a great jacket! The company is europea, which is nice. I also got her boots, from Shima as well.

So i was wondering if these are not very known, hated or what? I think I'll get some more stuff, they are very good pieces for the price!

Neck and back massage in MK

Hi, not looking for spa days or happy endings, I just have very stiff neck and back and I need a massage.

In London I would use Urban and have them come home. It was good enough for me.

They don't work here, and I was wondering if there's a similar service, or a parlour to go to, that's not dodgy.

Thanks

bike tracker - android

Hi, i'm aware there are several top notch solutions like data tag etc, but I don't need that much.

I believe theft cannot be completely deterred, but it's a matter of making my bike harder to nick compared to others.

I am looking for a gps tracker to hide in it. I was thinking of one of those android (no iphone here and never will be, sorry) trackers. No need to be over complex (see above) since I also live in a tranquil area.

It's more for peace of mind, and if this is small enough, I'd love to add it to my cat's collar, who is a 5stars, black-belt escapist.

Alternatives for office chair for desk work

Hi, moved into a new home with (unfortunately) carpets.

I managed to cut out a nice corner in the bedroom for my office work, but this carpet is long and thick, and the wheels of my Hinomi chair aren't working almost at all.

So the question: since I am not in fact needing a wheeled chair in this setup, as I don't have much space to move, what alternatives do I have ? I love the fact this chair has a solid recliner and even a footrest, so it it's possible to keep these features, it'd be great.

So I guess, the questions are in fact 2:

- any way I can sort out the wheels of this chair?

- anything else I can explore? I tried one of those stools where you sit almost crunching, leading to your spine being very straight, and I loved it, but there's no lean back option so I don't see myself sitting there all day.

Thanks!

HJC F100 fragile?

So this is a brand new HJC F100. I bought it but don't use it almost at all.

Yesterday it was hung via the chin strap to a hook on my door. It dropped from about 170cm height to the floor and it cracked open as you can see in pictures.

I can see the fiberglass cracked open.

I am wondering if this is normal? The drop was in my opinion average: I don't have reference for my other helmet (i'm not dropping my arai just to test), but surely this seems a bit too easy to crack, isn't it?

I wrote the shop I got it from to understand if I have any warranty (bought in May), what do you think?

I know this isn't a premium brand, but still, it passed certifications, and I believe one of them is exactly a drop like this, even higher.

Nota bene: i don't want to fix it nor am I wearing it again. That's not the point here, don't mention it.

Hypervolt home 3 Pro wifi issues

I don't have ethernet nor can I install it.

I have my charger showing up in my wifi network. I see from my router it gets an IP address, and I can even reach it via the browser, it shows me the network page. Signal quality is also strong as there's only a wall between the charger and the router.

Problem is, the app doesn't want to see it connected.

I asked support, which has been rubbish so far, how the connection works.

They said the app doesn't talk to the charger, even when on the same network. The charger calls their servers and the app too.

This is questionable, but ok.

So the issue seems to be that the charger cannot reach their servers. I asked if there are some logs I can get from the charger or to have the address it is trying to access to see if the issue is with my network, but I seem to be more knowledgeable than the support...

So, resorting to the internet. Do you guys have any detail?

Thanks

Katkin cat food to donate to cattery

Hi,

New to MK.

I have a freezer drawer full of katkin food that my cats ignore.

I want to donate it to a cattery but the problem is it had to stay in freezer. You take it out when you need it.

Do you know of a cattery that could take it? It's a month's worth of food for 2 cats.

Rent a lawnmower?

Hi, we moved into MK this week and the house comes with 3 maybe 4 smq of grass.

It kinda feels overkill to buy a lawnmower so what ppl in this situation do?

Is there a place to rent them, or someone to call to do it on a reasonable price?

What to get my 60yo brother for his bday?

Flying to Italy in October for my brother's 60.

I'm thinking of what uk product(s) I could get him.

We will have hold luggage so shouldn't be an issue however no fresh products I suppose.

He likes wine, but we Italians won't drink uk wine if that even exists.

I am in the cotswolds for another week before moving.

Anything I should get? I thought of a cotswolds gin bottle.

What else?

I'd exclude beer and cider.

Absolute first timer asking for the way

Hello, First I'm not sure this is the right place. In case please redirect me.

I'm looking to rent my first motorhome - not van or camper.

I can drive a big van comfortably, but have zero experience with a motorhone. Never been in one.

But always wanted to try. So we are renting one for 3 nights around the 20th of July, starting from the area around Luton. We are a couple with 2 cats.

The other main reason is we have family in the continent, and would like to understand if a motorhome is a good idea to visit them more frequently, so this would be a test to see if we can deal with it.

  1. I don't know where to go. We initially wanted to go Cornwall (woman wants the beach), but on reddit every one suggested to avoid it as first trip, bc roads are narrow and now it's cramped. Fine, where else can we go? I want this to be reasonably chill, as it's the first experience and if it goes bad, motorhoming will be a big no for my partner
  2. If there's a proper beach it would be great, but we can do without. We are light trekker.
  3. I understand the best way is to use pitchup or park4night to find spots: but what am I looking for exactly? I have a motorhome, I suppose with gas: do I need an electric pitch? what comes with it?
  4. Why is it so crazy expensive to find a spot? I see some are more than 200 quids per 2 nights, am I looking at the wrong pitch?
  5. I read that a motorhome is not like van camping and I cannot park everywhere: is that because I need services like electricity and waste, or because of the size, or both? If I can find a spot that is big enough and possibly empty, can't I park there?
  6. Any resource I can read up before start?
  7. anything else you want to add, please do

Thanks!

Pubs and flags

Sorry foe the silly question, but better safe then sorry.

These days, if a pub has England or UK flags outside, does it mean they're "oriented" toward reform?

Schuberth c5 vs concept

I tried both on.

I tried the c5 in 2xl and it was very comfortable, just a tad too large. They didn't have the xl, but they assured me the e2 is the same shell and identical.

The e2 in xl also felt good, to be fair I couldn't tell the difference between the two

The main and most important thing for me is how quiet it is. I already have an arai quantic and while wearing the foamies I'm happy with the noise.

Then I tried the concept, which fits good in xl but not as good as the c5. The L is too small, the 2xl is too big.

Now for the questions:

  1. They said the concept doesn't have different options for padding, I find it strange is it true?

  2. How much quieter is the c5 compared to the concept?

  3. Considering I have my own intercom, would the noise difference justify buying the c5 with its own intercom? Every dB matters to me.

  4. What degree of customization is possible with schuberth?

I had to sell my shoei gt air 3 because after 2 hours it was pressing a lot on my right cheekbone and ear (pfs would have not helped they said). The arai quantum in xl seems to be OK so far.

It seems my head is far off on the right side so ideally having a smaller pad on this side should help.

  1. Adding a new one: what do we know about the c5 ANC? I believe it should be out end of this month, but what's the price? I couldn't find any prerelease video on YouTube

Thanks!

New in town: barber recs

Hi, moving to MK next week.

Looking for a nice barber.

I'm used to plush treatment. My hair is short but I'm fixated with my beard, it's also short but faded and I want it done well.

I've seen everyone praising hair masters, so will try it but anything else? North of MK if possible
