Question - You're at a popular fishing spot and find someone's gear, but nobody is around. Take it or leave it?

A couple days ago some guy on a bike stopped by to ask if this small bag he found was mine, I told him it wasn't.

20 min later he comes back and gives me the bag which had like $50 of tackle in it. Awesome for me, but DAMN that sucks for the other guy.

I continued to fish that spot for like 2 more hours and nobody came to claim it and I wasn't the one who found it, so I dont feel AS bad about it.

Anyone interested in a group fishing trip/meet up in the area?

Looking to find some like-minded anglers in the area who want to make some fishing friends and possibly share their knowledge about how to best fish the local area.

Preferably in the NW burbs, but obviously the participants willingess to travel will dictate the area.

It would be a BYOB/BYOG (Bring Your Own Bait/Gear) thing. But if anyone has a kayak or canoe their willing to share, that world be dope.

If anyone is interested let me know!

ISO Fishing gear. New Angler looking to get started, figured I'd ask here.

If anyone has some excess fishing gear that isn't too old, I'd love to check it out. No preferences on type/style/ or brands (except "spincasters" none of those).

If you are interested please respond and I'll DM you. Obviously I would ask for some photos of the gear.

Thank you in advance!

Are you keeping what you catch? If so, what areas do you consider safe? (And what are you taking home?)

Growing up near the Fox River I've ALWAYS heard that the water was absolutely terrible and nobody should ever eat fish from there. Do yall think that's still the case?

Are there any areas that are known for having clean enough water that you would keep your catch?

Meeting her cousins! (Neb and Maine Coon)

My girl Aloe next to her younger cousins Atlas (grey) and Echo (orange).

Took my girls quite a while to get comfortable around the big boys.

Can someone help ID this little bug/grub lure?

Some old timer gave me this and it has been absolutely killing it in the river.

For everyone who says leader on braid is unnecessary...

I tired of getting snagged on your damn braid because you don't know how to use it.

Use a lighter leader for a breaking point.

Learn how to safely pull braid.

Yearly PSA: DON'T TIE DIRECTLY TO BRAID!

If you're using braid, PLEASE learn how to tie on a leader.

It's better for so many reason:

*You can use a fluorocarbon leader for minimal visibility

*Slight stretch for better hookset

*Better resistance to fraying

*A SPOT FOR YOU TO BREAK OFF!

I am so tired of finding yards and yards of braid stuck to EVERYTHING! The hook in the first photo was literally hanging at eye level.

I recommend the Uni-Knot. I typically tie like 2 feet of 8lb-12lb fluorocarbon leader to 30lb braid and I can reel past my guides with zero issue.

And please please please 🙏 pickup after yourself.

Baitcaster magnetic braking question.

Reel: Abu Garcia Vengeance

I am relatively new to baitcasters and I'm having some issues with my casting. I feel like I need to have my braking set to nearly 75%-80%, otherwise it starts nesting.

As I'm cleaning the reel I notice the magnets are all on 2/3rds of it, and not evenly spaced.

Is this an adjustable thing? I really don't think any fell out. Should I (and could I) remove the middle two (#2,#5) and place them in spots #7 and #9?

Starting NOW, I am only allowing myself to buy new gear after I land 5 keeper bass.

I landed my first keeper of the season and the bug bit me. I just jumped on the Pflueger President Baitcast Combo for $80.

My next purchase will be a new bag to replace the $7 Cabela bag I purchased like 8 years ago. I'm a "Pond Patroller", so I want something small(ish).

Any recommendations for a badass single strap bag?
