What Can I Do To Protect My Teeth?
Hello, I’m posting to get some advice. Unfortunately my dental insurance doesn’t cover much and most places don’t take my insurance.
That being said I developed ARFID (currently getting help) and it has damaged my teeth over time. Before I was having orange juice 4 times a day. The acid from it has made my teeth pretty sensitive.
Before I could bite straight into cold things without flinching, but now it doesn’t feel too good when I drink cold water or have something sweet. I floss every night and when I run the floss pick across one specific tooth it feels very sensitive. All my teeth have become a little yellow and a few teeth have developed a white patch. My gums are also receding, I’m not sure why, I brush gently in small circles with a soft toothbrush.
Last time I saw a dentist they told me my teeth looked great and that eventually the sensitivity will go away. I don’t buy that not even for a second. I’m very afraid of developing anymore cavities. I only have one from when I was little and I don’t think I can afford to have one now.
I use straws to protect my teeth at least a little more. When I can remember, I try swishing water in my mouth after drinking juice to help. I also started drinking orange juice once a day in the morning and for lunch I have apple juice. I heard apple juice is lower in acid. I also have been using Sensodyne toothpaste for years. I’m not finding it very helpful anymore, or maybe I just need something a little stronger.
What can I do to protect my teeth, and help with sensitivity? While I’m not crazy about my teeth, they’re my adult teeth and I’m not getting another set so I want to take really good care of them.
I’m 31years old and located in the USA if that extra info helps.
