What’s your exit strategy?

May panahon talaga na napapagod at burnt out ako. Katulad these last 1 month, sobrang daming patient.

Back on the wrist

It’s been a while my old friend. Big watches are falling out of favor. Good thing my wrist can take this 46 mm monster.

I Zeroed Out my CC

No bashing please.

I have started using debit cards instead if credit cards para ma control ang spending. It’s a big change, and definitely I am feeling the pinch pero ang sarap ng pakiramdam na wala nang iisipin sa due date. 😊

Yes to more conscientious spending. No more 💸 na di alam kung san napunta.

Na utusan mamalengke

I’ve fallen in love with this in the 3 months I’ve had it. I really think Longines is doing an excellent job in the value space.

Yay for small wins!

Dad of 3
This week I have prepared breakfast for my kids daily.
Packed their food in their bags.
Sent them all to school in time.
I’ve washed and ironed their clothes.
Given them a home cooked dinner every night.
Kissed all of them before they slept. Yes, even the 2 teens.
Today I have volunteered to be my youngest kid’s chaperone for their field trip.
All done with a smile and a warm heart.
I hope they appreciate it. 😊

Changing taste in watches

I get sad when my watches don’t get wrist time. Of course you will have 1 or 2 that will always be your favorite. I bought this because I thought it looked super nice. The dial has a very nice barley corn texture. I love the full calendar.

Pero I’ve never really been a chronograph guy. Now this piece has ended up in my watch box. It has been used maybe 5 times since I bought it last year. I’m thinking of letting it go pero ewan. I think I want a Santos hahaha. Anubayan, watch enthusiast problems.

High cost of living country

My wife is not working. She chose to care for our kids and I love her for that. We have 3 kids and they are growing up to be sweet, kind and loving children. That being said, it’s tough to be in a single income situation these days. We don’t even have a car, but di naman necessity dito. That’s beside the point.

Let’s convert expenses into pesos

Rent for a 2 br apartment 120,000
School fees x 3 kids (monthly) 143,000
Utilities+phone x 5 22,000
Transport x 4 14,000 (i bicycle to work)
Groceries 38,000
Cost of daily living x 5 120,000 (includes occasional dining out, dates, etc)
Tax 96,000 monthly
Mandatory deduction 150,000

This is the reality. We’re barely treading water. 1/4 ng sweldo goes into tax and deductions.

So what’s the advantage? Sa akin safety ng kids and less traffic. When you think about it, yan lang.

So sa nagbabalak umalis, think about it like this. Is it worth it for you? Anyway, thanks for reading the musings of an old man lying down while waiting for his child to fall asleep.

The drawbacks of OFW life in a high cost of living country

Solo staycation

I love solo staycations. Usually before a trip, I book myself a hotel across the airport and get my peace and quiet for a night. Relaxed body and mind for the trip ahead

I love staycations alone

As an introvert, i love checking in to a hotel and spending some time alone for peace and quiet. Even for just a night. Usually do this before a trip. I always book a hotel in front of the airport the night before my flight. Haaayyyy peace and quiet

2021 my father in law bought a vehicle.. Medyo lighter ang restriction ng covid nito. Masaya sha. He visited his brother sa province. He got covid and died a few weeks later.

Fast forward 2025. My aunt bought car. She was so happy when she got it. The next few days, she got sick. The only time she got to use that car was going to and from hospitals. Di man lang nagamit for the road trip she wanted to take.

Para daw yung mom ko mas madalian sumakay, bili sha ng sasakyan that’s not a sedan.

Edit: thanks everyone. Naaliw ako sa shift ko at bumilis sha because of this.
Close ko na to.
Sa nang bash at nag down vote, nang bastos God bless you.

As in the text above, I have spent more than 2M for this K pop band. Not for me, I’ve given it all to my partner.

What’s your biggest watch buying mistake?

Ako buying too fast too soon. I started when i was in high school so japanese watches kasi wala pang pera nun. But when i started earning real money, I fell
In love with breitling. Walang research, walang tanong bili agad. 2 in succession. And these were big watches. 46 mm pareho. Superocean and Avenger II. Now I want to offload 1, I can’t kasi tapos na yung big watch craze. I still love the watches though, so they still get wrist time. Pero they’re redundant in my opinion and I’ve hit my hard cap on my number of watches that I can own so…

Korea (Busan) trip. Surprisingly nice

2 adults, 3 kids. I didn’t expect much from it kasi we were going so my wife and child could see a bys concert and the boys were just along for the ride.

I was pleasantly surprised. The temples were nice and the area was more laid back than Seoul. We hired a guy to help drive us. Gyeongju sa mga UNESCO sites for 1 day (380,000 won) for 1 day then the next day yung mga touristy sites sa busan (300,000 won). I think this made my trip kasi kobtang bait nung driver. You would expect that a non English speaking driver would just sit in the car. Sha hindi. Nag photographer pa sha sa amin. By the end of the 2nd day, best friend na sha ng boys ko. (PM me if you want the contact number.)

I think i would recommend busan over Seoul. I appreciate the more relaxed atmosphere and the more nature-y areas. Just a preference.
