I recently got an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and I’m trying to keep the original battery as healthy as possible.
Right now, I usually follow the 20%–80% charging rule, because I’ve heard it helps reduce battery wear. However, I’ve also seen a lot of people say they charge from 20% all the way to 100% every day and still have excellent battery health after a long time.
Interestingly, my 11-inch iPad Pro (4th generation, M2) has been charged from 0% to 100% for almost 3 years, with almost daily use, and it still has 91% battery health. That makes me wonder how much of a difference the 20–80 rule actually makes in real-world use.
My goal is to keep the original battery in my iPhone for at least 3 years, ideally with 80% battery health or higher by then. If it drops to 79%, I’ll replace the battery. Assuming it’s still at 80% or above after those 3 years, I’d probably keep the phone for another 2 years before upgrading to a new iPhone.
So I’m wondering:
Is charging from 20% to 80% really worth it in the long run?
Or is charging to 100% regularly not as harmful as many people claim?
What charging routine has given you the best battery health after several years?
I’d especially like to hear from people who have kept an iPhone for 3+ years and can share their battery health and charging habits.

Just installed iOS 27 Beta 2 on my iPhone 17 Pro Max.
I’m posting here because my post in the iOS Beta subreddit was removed as a “common question.”
So far everything seems to be running fine, but I’m still in the early stage right after setup and background processes are finishing.
For anyone using it longer:
Does battery life improve after the initial indexing phase?
After updating, my available storage dropped from about 210 GB to 187 GB. Is that normal, and does it usually go back to normal?
I’ll monitor it over the next couple of days, just curious what others are experiencing long-term.

I actually have a lot of experience with the Casino Heist overall. This run is Silent & Sneaky on Hard Mode, but I’m not super confident with this approach yet. That said, I can do the fingerprint hack very quickly, so I can definitely contribute during the finale.

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to download a game that’s about 60 GB, and my PS5 says I need to free up storage space.

The strange thing is that I already have around 150 GB of free storage available on my console. As far as I know, that should be more than enough for a 60 GB game.

Has anyone experienced this before? Does the PS5 require extra space during the download/installation process, or could this be some kind of bug?

I currently have iCloud+ and use Apple devices, so iCloud Mail would be the more convenient option and would integrate nicely with the ecosystem.
However, privacy is also very important to me, which is why Proton Mail keeps coming up as an alternative.
At this point, I’m still not sure what I should prioritize more: privacy or convenience.
For those of you who have experience with Proton Mail, do you think the additional privacy benefits are worth giving up some of the convenience and integration that comes with iCloud Mail?

What would you do in my situation?

I’ve been using Yahoo Mail as my primary email service for several years, but I’m thinking about switching to iCloud Mail.

I’m currently using a Galaxy Watch 6 with my S24, but recently I got an iPhone 17 Pro Max as a gift. I’d like to spend around the same amount on the watch that I originally spent on my Galaxy Watch, so about €250.

Right now my Galaxy Watch sometimes has pretty heavy lag even during very simple tasks, but on the other hand the battery lasts around 5 days with about 6–8 hours of daily use.

Which Apple Watch would you recommend in that budget?

I’m looking for a mate to do the Diamond Casino Heist with me, including the setup missions for The Big Con (Gruppe Sechs). I’ve already completed this approach before and have also done all the other approaches once, so I know what I’m doing.
