Downloads

I love Steam. It's hands down the best software for installing games, playing them, downloading mods, sales, so good in many regards, nothing competes with it and I think a lot of people would agree. Not to mention I have 5,000 hours on Steam alone and I have spent hundreds of dollars, and I trust Steam to protect my account. I literally use no other primary software for games other than trusted sources on the web. However I have one complaint and that is with downloads. I want to be able to download when I choose.

This could be a problem for multiplayer games where every player needs to have the same version, which makes sense. I think this should be enforced downloads or they just restrict from multiplayer if you're not up to date. But this is not true for workshop updates. When I am just about to play a game and a mod I never play needs to update, and then I uninstall that mod it continues to update despite me not even having the files for the mod anymore. This should not be an enforced update because you don't need mods to play the base game.

I understand the technical issues of allowing players to decide when their updates, but I definitely think there could at least be a feature for this. I'm not experienced in this regard but some kind of feature to delay updates for singleplayer games would make it much more convenient and I would really appreciate this.

Also I have noticed a glitch where I am 200 megabytes into a 3.5 GB download and it says it 60% which doesn't make any sense, and then it stops at around 60-90% to catch up. Otherwise, I don't have any issues with Steam whatsoever. This is just one thing that really bugs me. Thank you for reading.

First Sabaton Song I haven't heard

I feel like I know every Sabaton song there is to offer but when this song came up I didn't know it. My life is ruined. How can I not know every Sabaton song? How is there a Sabaton song I don't know? This is not possible.

Broken Arrow? Singleplayer?

I enjoyed Warno's multiplayer and deck-building a lot but I think my heart lies with singleplayer because there a lot of things singleplayer offers that MP just doesn't. It takes quite a while to load into a lobby, multiplayer can be stressful while singleplayer is pretty relaxing and immersive, and singleplayer is equally challenging and offers much more narrative than a single multiplayer game. I especially enjoy the operations and army general Warno and Steel Division have to offer.

While I have been told singleplayer in Broken Arrow is broken, with no save files, no army general/flexible campaign, and scripted/rigid campaigns, which would be a downside for me, I still think I could enjoy multiplayer sometimes and I could always play singleplayer skirmish with the decks I build which would likely be much more enjoyable. However I wanted to hear the actual BA community's thoughts on this game's singleplayer capabilities. If I am sucker for singleplayer (which I can still tolerate multiplayer, mind you) does this game have both to offer like Warno and Steel Division or is it mainly only enjoyable in multiplayer?

Tribute to my favorite 7th Panzerdivision

Nothing, not even the heavier 9th Panzerdivision, can beat the massive swarm of T-55s and 72s and the infantry riding in BMPs which this division can deploy en masse. They even get an MLRS and a very good plane tab apart from the exceptional infantry and tank tab.

In this image I included the SU-22s, the RM-70, the Akatsiya, T-55s, T-72M1s, BMP-1s, and infantry as well as MT-LBs, BTRs, and MIG-21s and 23s, which are hallmarks of this division.

This is what inspired me: https://www.reddit.com/r/warno/s/c8GGC5HzPK

What is Your Favorite Div?

In my opinion the 7th Panzerdivision is the best division I've ever played. Although it is underplayed and I wouldn't mind if it stayed that way, I thoroughly enjoy closing in on the enemy with smoke, BMPS, and the almighty T-55 and 72 swarm. Not to mention nothing can beat the satisfaction of crushing a meta player or getting crushed by one when playing this divison, or taking the Red Army worth of casualties, or even having your tank column destroyed by clusters because your AA is slightly out of LOS or you forgot it entirely while aggressively microing your T-55 swarm.

While it took me a while to figure out this was my div, once I reached that point I could not get over how fun this div is and I refuse to play any other the 5th Blindee (see below).

Another div that may be of interest to me is the 5th Blindee. I did do almost 20 games with 4th Moto Schutzen and have 0 on 5th Blindee (other than one with the AI), it seems very similar to 7th with spammy AMXs, autocannons, and lots of smoke. I may play this division more in the future.

With all said and done what is your favorite division?

SHILKA vs PIVADS

I think PIVADS could have won if they were on the defensive, unfortunately the AI pushed its PIVADS down the road and our SHILKA had better LOS. Not to mention the PIVADS got stunned a fair bit of times and their ammo box exploded.

Is Virtuosa Balanced?

Recently I made a post about Juren on this subreddit which you can find here if you have not seen it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/forhonor/s/XADNtG8jWu

It discusses in depth what is right and wrong about Juren AKA Lu Bu. We had a pretty good discussion in the comments and agreed that Juren is not overpowered, but rather his flaws rely in overtuning and how he promotes cheap gameplay over true skill (not saying you cannot play Juren without skill).

Now I wanted to discuss Virt. This may be even more of a hot topic as Virt requires skill against players who understand her all dodge stance. Whereas high level Jurens, such as those you see in Deathmatches, are truly a force to reckon with, high level Virts face difficulties in that most players of their skill level understand her stance. This is vice versa for Jurens. A low level Juren will be crushed by mid-to-high level players who know how to parry, whereas a low level Virt can crush other low level players.

As for her moveset, I think it is both a liability and a strength. After every light or heavy attack she goes into her stance and in this state is easily guardbroken unless she throws an attack to interrupt the guardbreak to which her opponent could use guardbreak buffering to bait an attack. This is its weakness. The strength is that she can dodge every bash, heavy, light, zone — even feat — and frankly any other attack other than a guardbreak that is thrown. So if you are not careful you will be crushed.

Which is why she is perhaps the most hated character in the game. She punishes offense and braindead gameplay, while faltering in the face of smarter players, to where it comes down to outsmarting her opponent. I myself love feint to neutral and defend so when fighting Virts (and Hitokiris) they usually don't know what to do because I do not fall for their stance. Their stamina is being actively drained, they can't attack or bash because I simply react, and even if they get an attack off if I get out of it it's neutral again.

Therefore while I myself do not find her to be unbeatable she's definitely a very hard character to fight, and my brother is offensive in his playstyle so therefore finds Virt much more annoying. One thing I like about her is she encourages patience which will help the For Honor community and save it from the braindead playstyles Juren encourages (again, not all Jurens are braindead).

What do you think? Is she balanced or needs another nerf? I believe a nerf to her all dodge stance is ruled out but they could target her in other ways.

Shugoki: Nerf or Buff?

Shugoki is definitely a strong pick. While I think that he is slow and easily interrupted by faster characters like PK, Glad, and frankly any character with a bash, good Shugokis can stand a chance against these characters by trading, reading, and dodging.

Originally I thought Shugoki needed a buff because of how slow he is and with enough practice his charged heavy can be parried, but I think at times Shugoki can be very oppressive if played correctly. I think a nerf would hurt him and a buff would make him even more oppressive, so I think he in a fair middle ground. Not to mention a lot of people panic when faced with his charged heavy making him a character that needs to be practiced against.

If played correctly, he can be a monster. If not, he is very easily beaten. I do not think he is considered meta, but creators like Muli play him and do very well with him. Imo I think he's a bit too offensive for me but fun for the memes, and I actually think the Japanese Shugoki skin looks awesome.

What are your opinions on a Shugoki nerf/buff or leaving him how he is?

5th vs 7th Panzerdivision

When I first started playing Warno I chose 5th and I think this is my spirit animal. Whereas in other games I prefer slow placed attrit warfare, in Warno I like fast-paced tempo warfare. So, these are ideal divs for me. While I tried to make attrition work in Warno it didn't, and so I found out I'm better at micro here than other games.

However, this has brought up the question for which div is better. 5th relies on top-tier German technology and expensive tanks and building up, while 7th is more about controlling the air while overwhelming the enemy and closing the distance with cheaper tanks allowing for a better opener. Currently I'm focusing on 7th Panzerdiv, I don't know when I'll switch to 5th, but as of now I'm playing as many games as possible with 7th but 5th will pull at me eventually.

Which do we think is the better division or a good comparison?

Juren Thoughts?

Juren is a really "fleshed out" character that a lot of people think is broken. Now, personally I believe Juren is beatable if they're a noob that just bought Juren to win, but if it's a good Juren, such as the 100+ rep Jurens you meet in deathmatches, then they can be beasts. The problem with Juren isn't him being overpowered, it's more so his moveset. He takes a lot of ideas from other characters that Ubisoft doesn't try to hide, and while Ubi did a good job in making them unique to Juren the concept is the same. For example, his full guard doesn't make any sense and shouldn't even be a thing, and his moveset is pretty overtuned in ways like this. He is so versatile and has so many different moves that he shouldn't have. Also I saw a comment that said they made him have nearly every move in the game. Just my opinion, I think he has a bit too much health and his feats are really what makes him nearly unkillable in 4's. He gains health and stamina from killing, activating revenge, and gives a debuff to his teammates which fosters toxicity that FH already has too much of. Oh and there are numerous comments that advise people not to gank Juren because he is so good. You're supposed to wait him out if he's breaking which is just unfun. Juren mains can downvote me but this is my honest opinion, feel free to comment yours!

Anti-Flood Plugin

We all know the Flood vs. Drain War going on in DonutSMP. Although I don't play DonutSMP myself I do enjoy watching DrDonut. However, a certain comment caught my attention that asked why Donut couldn't just install a plugin in the server's code to break flooding systems. I'm no coder so I am not sure how this would work but it probably could depending on what code is used. Only thing Donut has to worry about is backlash from the flooders, I think the war creates a lot of tension DonutSMP needs. At the same time the flooding could be causing actual harm to the server, but for the most part it seems pretty tame right now.

Smart Order for Ground Units?

So I did a 10v10 and went against this guy called Lost Material 54 in my section. He was pretty good, level 20, I'm only 11, but I was able to inflict quite a few casualties on him. Not more than he got on me, but still a lot for my level. However, I thought it was such a good battle I went back and rewatched it, and for some reason he has the hold position order on his BMRs. I was confused because I was told NOT to do this and instead just micro my units, so I am curious as to why he did this. He also had fire at will on his mortar which makes sense because he was microing his two MLRSes but I've found I prefer hotkeys for my artillery.

Is the SPG worth including in my deck?

I often find myself running out of armor at the end of a battle or in the middle of one if it's really intense or attritional, especially if I'm in a 2v1 or 3v1 so I thought the motorized tank gun could be a good fix to this. While it's certainly not as good as a tank, I think I could make it work with the sheer numbers in the card and proper positioning. Problem is, I'd have to get rid of one of my infantry cards (probably the CMD Schutzen, I never really use it and am looking for a unit to replace it). So, is the SPG worth it or should I get something else like Sicherungs, Mot Schutzen BTR or SVD, konkurs, panzerjager, etc.? Or would the safest option be to stick with the CMD Schutzen?

Warlord vs Conqueror

With Rep 8 on Conqueror, I think he is a really fun character. Although he gets repetitive at times and I do need constant breaks, his fashion and emote spam brings me back every time. He has access to unblockables (which seems to be the current meta) even though he struggles against meta characters, and a full guard for anchoring team fights.

However, with his full guard he does not get access to undodgeable attacks as Warlord does and cannot attack without punishing for a full guard hit. On top of that Conq does not do much damage at all.

On the other hand we have Warlord. I'm only 1 rep with him, but for this 1 rep I fell in love with him and his playstyle. Although his full guard cannot move he has hyper armor on almost all attacks, an undodgeable zone, and so much in his kit to counter whatever he comes across.

His own downsides are that his full guard cannot move and he has no unblockables. He is easily countered if you just parry which surprisingly not a lot of people seem to do. He can feint though and has amazing reach to ledge people. Conqueror seems to lack this and is better at conventional fighting.

Both characters can work in the current meta if they are in the right hands, but do you think Warlord, with his hyper armor attacks, is superior to Conqueror's access to unlimited unblockables, or would Conq top him?
