Is it better to visit in early September, around Labor Day or late in September? September is the best time for me to visit this year.

Gym before the RBC Brooklyn Half marathon
Stupid question, but do any of you go to the gym on the week before half marathons? I traditionally avoid the gym before a half marathon, but what do you suggest?
