just a random thought i'll delete if too low-effort
i often find myself falling in love with stories and worldbuilding. you can't really talk to those, or kiss them, or touch them. i know there are people here who face the same problem with the things or concepts that they love.
the way i give affection to a story is by making and interacting with fanart and fanfiction (esp stuff that digs in and explores the world; i wrote an eighteen-page "research" paper on hypothetical eridian fashion in project hail mary), making physical things like bracelets that hold meaning (i made a gorgeous suncatcher for doctor who), naming pets and things important to me after characters in the story (my telescope is named eleanor after the main character of contact), and collecting anything that reminds me of the thing.
how do y'all give affection to the things you love but can't physically interact with?
i put it on ao3 bc i don't know how to publish the original thing but it does look a lot nicer in the original format as a pdf
i'm not sure if this counts as neography, since morse code is quite old and well-known, but i've found a cool way to use it that i would like to share.
it's easiest in some sort of pixel art program. the letters are just morse code. you decide on a "baseline" and a direction that you'll be writing in, and then write each letter extending out from the baseline. in my first two examples here, the baseline goes left to right and the letters extend downwards; in my third one, the baseline goes top to bottom and the letters extend to the right. really, it just depends on what you think is coolest.
dots should be one pixel, dashes three pixels, with one pixel between dots/dashes. no space between letters, they're stacked right on top of each other; one pixel between words, and i've been putting a space before punctuation as well bc it looks cooler.
once you've done it in pixels, you can copy it in pen. the pixels have to be perfect or it's illegible; i drew a very tiny grid on my paper. unfortunately i still made a few mistakes. overall, it's time consuming and a little difficult, but it's fun and the results look cool. have fun <3
first is my script that i've been using and developing for over ten years now, second is my english alphasyllabary, and third is just morse code pixellated, smushed together, and handwritten. that one took the longest bc it's impossible to write legibly without drawing a grid first, and i still made a few mistakes lmao.
found this lil wormy guy attached to some bread in Lebanon. clearly he's a bread clip, but is he an occlupanid or just something related? i'm new here this is my third specimen and first post
if you're not familiar with tumblr culture, it is customary to make ship art of characters that are paired in the contest, or to depict them as fighting each other. personally i think grace and ford are friends and ford is definitely tagging along and cheering grace on in the final round. they met in denmark and then never spoke again but if they do meet again they'll act like they were never apart. anyways go vote for grace he really needs it this round
stan literally won last year he doesn't need this

y'all know the sort of fart sound rocky made when grace asked what rocky's name for him was?
eridians basically have super-sonar, right. rocky can hear grace easily from across the ship and can "see" through walls. that's why grace look disgust when eat; rocky can hear his squishy human organs working and probably making all manner of wet squelching sounds that humans don't even notice.
just like grace saw a weird alien and called it "rocky" because it looked like a rock, ♫♩♪♫ saw a weird alien and called it "phbbt" because it looked like gross wet squelching noises.
i got tangled and had to stop before it got long enough to make a bracelet :/ gonna have to figure out a different way to use it. either way i'm pretty happy with it :)
i'm bored he'll answer in character
"That's really nice," he remarked in his video after taking a swig, before biting into what appears to have been the vilest sandwich he has ever tasted.
Matt made various dishes from several dream-related subs and then tried all of them. We can only hope he suffers no lingering ill effects from ingesting such things as NyQuil bread and sunscreen-fried fish.
