Kelly Blue Book: Our 3 Favorite Things About the 2026 Mazda CX-50
Mazda’s CX-50 outsells a lot of its competitors, and for good reason. While it offers many great standard and optional features, here are a few that stand out to us and should make the 2026 Mazda CX-50 stand out to you.
1. Engine Options
2. Mi-Drive and i-Active All-Wheel Drive
3. Hey, Good Looking
Will there be Memorial Day sales on TVs?
reddit.comMazda is a luxury brand on the Downlow
After my 20-year old Acura was totaled, I just bought a 2026 Mazda CX-50 premium hybrid. Three weeks in, I am so delighted in my purchase. Cars with comparable features cost $10,000 to $15,000 more than Mazdas. The features, the specs, the interior, the innovation. Based on current TikToks, I think people are finally realizing Mazdas are stealth luxury
I am trying to buy a dishwasher. I was told Memorial Day typically features great appliance sales. Anyone seen anyone good sales on Whirlpool or Kitchenaid dishwashers?
Motor1's Take: Buyers can’t get enough of the CX-50, and it’s easy to see why they might be interested in the affordable base model or the ultra-efficient hybrid. With a starting price of just over $30,000 with destination and up to 38 mpg in the hybrid model, the CX-50 is hard to beat.
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 went on sale earlier this year, introducing fresh styling, a more spacious interior, and a new touchscreen to replace the old rotating knob infotainment system. Mazda’s third-generation CX-5 sells alongside the similarly-sized CX-50 crossover, which has been in production since 2022. It may seem counterintuitive to sell two vehicles in the same competitive segment, but Mazda customers and dealerships don’t see it that way.
“It’s such a big segment and we were seeing different customers wanting different things. The outdoor trend was gaining popularity, and that is where the CX-50 idea came from,” explained Jannice Jacobson, Sr Mgr, Strategic Planning & Integration during an interview with Autoblog.
“[The CX-50 is] more wagon-like with a lower stance to create a distinctive differentiated positioning versus the CX-5, which was more mainstream,” she added.
Jacobson even pointed out that CX-50 customers tend to come from different demographics than CX-5 buyers, on average. “CX-50 attracts more premium intenders and younger, more affluent males versus the CX-5,” which skews more female, she revealed. “CX-50 does also get cross-shopped with more premium brands
The Mazda CX-50 sold 110,345 units last year in 2025, the most in the model’s brief but successful existence since being introduced in 2022. Of those units, 57,372 (just under 52%) were the base 2.5-liter engine, which is to be expected given that it’s the most affordable, starting at $29,000 for a 2026 model. Mazda also offers the CX-50 with hybrid and turbocharged powertrains, and you might be surprised to learn how many people opt for the latter.
After driving a 260,00 mile Acura for almost 20 years, an accident forced me to buy a new car. After much study and consultation, I bought a 2026 CX-50 hybrid premium. So far, I love it! Despite fears about the comfort of the seats, I find them quite comfortable, albeit I enhanced them with seat cushions I purchased on Amazon. The cup holder is in a good position for me, but I don’t drink from tumblrs or big gulps. The car is plenty fast for me, but I am not a fast car person. I love the leather seats and interior. It truly is luxurious. The infotainment system is nearly perfect after I got used to it. I don’t want too much screen that other cars have, and I love having knobs. I decided against a CRV because Honda doesn’t install Sirius radio anymore, and Mazda makes Sirius integration seamless. The backup cameras are really good, with perhaps the widest view I’ve seen in a car. Gas mileage thus far is also impressive. I am getting so many compliments about the aesthetics of the car. It’s sleek and hot. So far, very good!
