Vlier groeit snel maar heeft niet gebloeid

Hoihoi!

Can i keep one old male alone?

Hi! 2 years ago I started with 15 endler male guppies i rescued from a hoarder. A few months after getting them they got ick. I have been treating them over and over again literally with most methods from 30 degree water to medicine and salt. It didnt work. Now 2 years later i have 2 male guppies left over. The rest have passed, i hope from old age. Now that there are only 2 left over and im still not convinced they are ick free im starting to worry. What if one of the 2 passes away? Should i euthanize the other one thats left over? Should i keep it alone? Or should i risk new sick fish and add more guppies? After the last guppy i kind of wanted to move that tank and put my pea puffer in there so im not sure if i want new guppies. The endlers lived in a 60liter fully planted aquarium. I never noticed any fighting since they were siblings. Obviously if they would have been fighting i would have had separated them.

What would you guys do?

Slakken eters

Hoihoi!

Willow weaving

Hey everyone! i am on a journey to lower my waste in every way possible. Right now im trying to think of ways to lower my plastic plant pots and compost bin waste. i came to the idea to make a willow basket with lid that i can bury in the ground and put my compost in. This way it would be available for the microorganisms, worms and other critters while also pushing the nutrition to the plants nearby. I planted 18 willows along my goat pasture in autum and they are growing well considering the heat waves and all. Now, I have never even done anything like willow weaving, but I'm really excited to learn! I have lots of questions, for example, how do you know when to harvest the sticks and how will you make sure its secure and good? is there for example, a book that is suitable for beginners? Preferably with pictures, cause im a visual learner.

Missed eggs 🫠

Like the title says i missed a few eggs. This week was hectic due to me having surgery and this week i kind of neglected the care of my snails. That means a simple mist, fresh food was their total care this week. I just found 3 tiny snails. For now i kept them with the big snails and tomorrow i will turn their enclosure upside down to look for more babies. Now is my question what do you guys do with missed eggs when you live in an area where they already flood Facebook marketplace for free. I have been thinking about giving the babies to my goldfish in my aquarium since its a quick and painless death but due to the heatwave the goldfish barely eat let alone hunt so im not really loving that though. I also have a pea puffer who could potentially eat them but i feel like the babies are already too big for her. I already have alot of pets and my current snail enclosure is already pushing it with 9. The babies look really healthy to me so at least thats good. Usually i check the soil for eggs every 2 to 3 days but this week i just couldn't and all my friends and family think the snails are gross so refused to care for them.

Part of me wants to keep them but the other realistic part of me thinks I'm an idiot if i keep them since i already have over 45 animals under my care ( including the fish) and that number will be growing soon too. I already love the babies but i dont have space for them as adults and think it might be cruel to keep them alive in a world where they wouldn't thrive.

I'm looking for much needed advice.

Update!:

So i just spent 5 hours looking though the soil ( i have a few woodchips in the substrate) and i found over 300 eggs and 43 hatched snails. I crushed the eggs and fed them back to my adults. They are happily eating them now. The babies i crushed. I put them in a paper towel and then smashed them with a glass fast and hard. I checked and all passed away directly. I buried them in the garden and planted some flower seeds above them.

Thank you all so much for your help and support!

Motherhood

When i was a kid/ teen i was always sure that i wanted to have a big family. You know the works. 4+ kids, sweet husband, 2 dogs and a big garden. Then i got endometriosis bowel and a few other health issues and now im not so sure anymore. I have seen women with endo who became mothers and absolutely thrived in motherhood but i am so afraid that if i would become a mother that i wouldn't be a good one based on the fact that my pains can be that bad that i cant walk properly some days. When i envisioned motherhood i always imagined playing with my kids and running after them in playgrounds, taking them shopping and exploring the world. Currently my life is based at home because im worried my gut issues will get worse when im outside. My partner is very understanding when it comes about kids. I know he wants to be a father but he says he loves me more than the desire to be a father. Your body your choice in his words. So im looking for more women who have had these doubts and i would love to hear what you ( and partner) are deciding and if you have kids how do you manage to keep them happy and alive when you are barely alive that day? If you could do it again would you do something different?

Bunnies

My post in the rabbit and bunny subs keep getting removed. Idk why. They follow the rules. The only think i can think of is that i got 2 of my buns from a breeder. Both groups are heavy into rescue and adopting but for me that wasnt an option since my situation was complicated and i needed more healthy young bunnies in a similar size as soon as possible.

For context i adopted 3 bunnies from someone who rescued a pregnant momma bunny. Flamish giant. The babies were supposed to be 2 girls and 1 boy. Turned out there were 2 boys and 1 girl. Thankfully we found out in time and both boys are castrated and recovering together now. The vet advised us to get at least one more similar sized bunny as soon as possible so they would be able to all live in one group without the boys breeding the girl too much. I checked rescues but those buns were 9 years or older, boys or simply way too small for the fencing we have for them. We found a flamish giant breeder that is really focused on health. We went there and adopted 2 bunnies since my parents wanted an orange one and i wanted a black one. Both girls. Both girls were planned to breed when they would be older. We took them home and home we saw the black one had a wet nose. Nothing to worry about but we decided together with the breeder that she would go back to go on quarantine alone for 2 weeks just in case there was something going on. There wasnt. She had a cold probably from the airco. While we dropped her off i saw another bunny and immediately fell in love. So i convinced my parents and the breeder to get that one too. I figured a group of 6 would be more fun than a group of 5. Now we are waiting untill the fence is completely done ( probably monday) and then all the bunnies will be introduced together again in their new shed. They will get used to each other there for a bit before they are allowed on pasture too. We have a big garden and keep goats as well. The goats we adopted might have cae ( joint issue) so we cant extend the group like we planned. Thats why we decided to get bunnies. The goats still have around 550m2. The buns will have around 108m2. The fence is pretty high and dug into the ground as well so they can't dig under. They will also get a food forest and other ways to enjoy themselves. For example im growing 21 willows since last autumn so eventually they will have unlimited leaves and sticks to enjoy. The fence wont keep out rats and stuff but i never seen a rat here in person or on the wildlife camera. The bunnies will go into their shed at night and that's completely safe for them. We do the same with our goats since we live in an area with wolves as well.

18+!

How many of us had a colonoscopy and actually found something from it that made their lives better? I have my colonoscopy monday and I'm super nervous. Maybe tmi but i was assaulted years ago and havent been that exposed since then. Thankfully i arranged that all the doctors and everybody in the room with me will be women and that i will get full sedation so im okay kinda lol. I feel like a colonoscopy is my only change. Doctors arent doing more research without it and my pain levels are higher then should be normal. I take 16 painkillers a day including morphine and i dont feel like it helps at all. At this point i am just desperately looking for relief and I'm starting to care less and less if that relief comes in a cure for me in the ground. Does anybody else have ( had) this? Like im not suicidal or depressed. Just exhausted of the constant pain and disappointment and idk it feels useless to suffer untill im old if im even gonna make it that far and use all kinds of resources when i can do the opposite and just peace out and donate whatever they could use. I mean isn't that what we all learned in those fake scenarios with the 1 person and 20 people in front of the train? Push one to save 20 or do nothing and 20 people die.

English isnt my native language so if i say something offensive im sorry its an oopsie. Anyways kisses and have a good day/ night or whatever wherever you are. Shit happens 😜

Extremely overwhelmed

Heya yall.

I'm extremely overwhelmed with the amound of animals and things i need to keep alive. I currently have 4 aquariums with goldfish, pleco, snails, shrimp, pea puffers, guppies, platys, mollies, silver flying foxes and probably something else. I also have 2 terrariums with 9 african giant land snails in total. On top of that i have 2 indoor cats with gut issues and astma in my small home, 2 cats that are mine at my parents house next door that are mine to feed and take care off, 6 rabbits outside, 5 goats outside. When i got most of them ( all except a few fish) i was healthy as a horse. I was loving live and always loved animals and felt extremely guilty to the strays, shelter animals and abused animals. I took it personally that that happens to them. Now i have 4 chronic health issues and they are testing for more. I have days where i can barely walk and still all the animals need to be taken care of. I also have obsessive cleaning disorder so everything must be spotless cause in my mind all my animals will die and suffer if it isn't spotless. I know that most likely they would live but i cannot not clean everything for them. Due to my health issues im without a job. Thankfully i have always saved alot of money and if i keep going like this i can last at least 5 years. Thats including animal care and an emergency vet fund for the animals so thats fine. But i cant help but to feel guilty to my animals about not maintaining the same high level of care as i gave them before. Yeah ofcourse their diet needs, vet needs and hygiene needs are met but i feel like it isn't enough. Especially on the hard days. Im constantly thinking about rehoming them but to be honest i dont trust others with my animals since all of them came from really bad situations of abuse and neglect. Also the shelters are filled to the brim and i hate the idea of making that more since my original intentions were the opposite. Besides my animals i am also the main caretaker of my parents and the property. We have 5ha and thats alot of maintenance as well. I cant ask them to help either and dont have friends since they all left when i turned sick and couldn't be there for them anymore.

Does anybody have any tips on how to maintain this lifestyle?

Bomen op erf grens

Hallo allemaal!

How do i keep them in the garden

Hey everybody!

Im thinking about getting 3 roosters as pets. They are dumped alot in my area and since im allergic to chickens it doesnt matter for me if i get hens or roosters. I have a pasture that is around 650m2. At the moment 108m2 of those are for 6 flamish giant bunnies and the rest is for the 5 dwarf goats. I want to keep the roosters in the same area as the goats. My neighbors both have hens and also have a rooster and i want to make sure there will be no issues between those 2 groups. The hens of my neighbor free range every 3 or 2 months for the rest they are in their coop. My question is how do i keep them safely in the area with the goats? The fence is 120cm high and pinned in the ground.

Stable mulch for garden

Hey everybody! We have a pretty big garden that the former owners have neglected alot. So we have plants that are suffering and weeds for a lifetime. We also have 5 super adorable goats that help us maintain a big part of the garden and we give them most of the weeds we pull and tree cutting as well they are our fast compost system. Of course the goats also have a stable that we completely clean every 2 weeks. this leaves me with about 7 to 9 wheelbarrows of hay, straw, woodchips and shit. I am thinking about using this as mulch for the garden beds since it will compost over time, feed the soil, help the bugs and plants. However im afraid the hay and straw might have seeds and if that is the case im afraid i will give myself more and more work when it already is way too much. I planted 18 willows last year and mulched them with the stable stuff but they are planted in a grass field so i literally don't know if i dropped grass seeds at those spots.

What would you guys do?

Advice needed for introduction

Advice needed for introduction

Hi! I have 4 flamish giants at the moment and 2 others that are mine that are still at the breeders. Its kind of a weird situation and pretty complicated how we got here. English isnt my first language so bear with me. Ill try to explain the best way i can.

In june we got 3 bunnies. The idea was that those bunnies were 2 girls and 1 boy. The boy would get castrated 2 weeks after getting them and then be quarantined until it was safe for him and the girls to be together again. However when we went to the vet the day after we got them it turned out that we had 2 boys and 1 girl. The advice from the vet was to rehome one boy or get at least 2 other girls so there would be 3 girls and 2 boys. We decided to get 2 more girls after the boys were castrated and separated from the girl. We met an amazing breeder who breeds on health and even ships buns internationally because there is such a high demand for his healthy buns. We were stoked and bought a red bunny and a black bunny. When we brought them home and introduced them to our first girl we noticed that the black bunny had a cold. We took her back to the breeder to be put in quarantine untill she was healthy again. The breeder has vet experience so i am confident that it will be okay. Then the breeder gave us another bunny for free since he knows the buns will have an amazing life here with us. So the free bunny and the black bunny are in quarantine together at the breeders place, 2 girls are together, 2 boys are castrated together. So its kind of a mess. 3 duo's need to become a group.

I have little introduction experience and want to do it the best way. There are also 2 more issues. Their stable isnt ready yet. The 4 we have here already are now in the mancave and have nothing to complain about tho they have room, toys and the right nutrition. Their stable is delivered but we need to put it together on our own that is being delayed since my grandma died this week and we have alot to figure out about that first. After the stable is built we still need to isolate it since winters can be cold and its what is best for the bunnies. Their fence will also still need to be built. When their stable is done and the fence is put down they would have the rest of their lives to enjoy 108m2 of pasture and 18m2 of stable. The timing was horrible for getting the first buns since their stable wasnt done yet but it was the best option. The people who we got the first 3 from were going on holiday and could only find someone to care for the og buns. The boys have been castrated 2 weeks ago now. I want to wait 1 or 2 weeks extra just to be sure eventho they were too young on paper to be able to have swimmers lol the last thing we need is 2 pregnant buns haha.

Im looking for advice to bond 6 buns together the best way possible. We dont want to keep the breeder wait much longer and the boys are still not ready in my opinion to be put back with the girls also i feel like their space is currently too small for more buns. The goal is to have the stable and fence ready in 2 weeks. Im looking for advice to bond them there then. Should i just put all 6 buns together in the stable then since that is new to all of them or should i start with just the girls and add the boys later? I heard that multiple girls can be bitchy together and that the boys would bring calmth to the herd but i have zero clue about that.

I know i sound totally clueless but i do have experience with bunnies, just not the introduction. I have had multiple bunnies in my life already who have all had very happy lives with lots of love.

Also im asking to keep the comments respectful and nice. Im doing the best i can and obviously this isnt how i planned things to go. Right now the main thing to focus on is to deal with the situation so everybody will be calmer and happier.

Thanks for your time.

Nieuwe kat erbij of niet?

Hallo allemaal!

Need advice for future job

Hey everyone! I need some advice. I suffer from endometriosis, ibs, depression, chronic back issues and a few other stuff. My health issues started at 8 years old and only got worse ever since. My education level is highschool. I tried multiple studies but my health wasn't good enough for me to finish those. The jobs i have had weren't official or paid. I had to help my father with his company for 2 years because his health wasn't well and he needed a few more years for his retirement. I have days where i cant stand or move. Everything i do gives me alot of pain. Im still hopeful on getting better and have multiple treatments that aren't covered by insurance. I am completely out of my savings and my government is refusing to help me financially since i never had a paying job. I have been looking for a job that i can actually do for over 3 years now. I need a job with a low education level, no traveling needed and no experience needed. As you can understand in today's world that is impossible so i was hoping to get some advice and information here. I am from the Netherlands if that helps.

Hakselaar

Hoihoi!

Livestock

Hey! I have 4 dwarf goats ( 2 castrated boys and 3 girls) we are not breeding the girls and wont ever breed them either. One has behavior issues and the other are mother and daughter and mom has stomach issues. We keep them on roughly 550 m2 of pasture from sunrise till sunset. They also have a stable thats 4meter by 2,50 meter that they can enter the entire day. They always have multiple clean water stations and one hay rack in the stable with good quality hay available to them. We clean the entire stable every 2 weeks as well. My goats their knees pop when they walk so i had them tested for cae and that test came back negative and the vet said they were very healthy and complimented us on their coat, pasture and the goats behavior.

I always wanted to have a bottle baby sheep. I think sheep are adorable and hilarious creatures and love how fluffy they are. The goats leave alot of the grass untouched so i thought that i could maybe get 2 sheep with the goats. Same size breed too. However i keep hearing completely different options on this matter. Some say the goats will attack the sheep, others say its a good idea since it helps the pasture and works against parasites. I don't know what to believe and trust anymore. I never had goats or was raised in an environment where it was normal that people had livestock so i have lots to learn.

If it would be fine to get sheep then what breeds do you guys suggest and what genders? Also 1, 2 or 3 sheep? Could they be in the same stable or will they need their own stable?

Also i planted 18 willows last autum that are doing amazing. I also want to plant 3 big trees in the goat pasture to build natural shade and give them snacks in autumn. What are trees you guys have or can advice me to get. My goats are 3 and 2 years old. I would like for them to be able to enjoy the shade from it before they are old lol

Picture of my 5 favorite idiots is payment for the advice. In tbe picture they were nervous cause we just bought home flamish gaint bunnies and they never saw bunnies before.

Sorry for the bad English im not a naitive speaker/ writer.
