Help with optimal roof assembly (Ontario, Canada)

I'm looking for some advice for roofs in cold climates.

I'm building a 20' x 40' insulated outbuilding in Ontario, Canada. The roof will be a 6:12 pitch, framed with 2x12 hand-cut rafters and a 40' LVL ridge beam running the full length of the building. I'm using Huber ZIP System sheathing on both the walls and roof, with ZIP tape on the seams.

Where I'm stuck is the roof assembly...

I can't figure whether I should build it as a vented or unvented cathedral roof. If I go with a vented, what's the best way to create the ventilation? Owens Corning pink rafter vents (Raft-R-Mate), another type of similar product, or something else entirely?

I'm also trying to decide on the insulation.. spray foam (open or closed?), rockwool or something else?

My goals are air tightness, energy efficiency and long term durability (and follow code of course)

I'd really appreciate hearing what you guys recommend and why. Thanks!

Help me figure out the best way to insulate and vent my cathedral roof (Ontario, Canada)

Best wall assembly in Ontario, Canada?

I'm doing the foundation/basement in ICF with a 2x6 wood framed structure on top. My plan is to use open cell spray foam in the walls and ceiling (ceiling will be 2x12s hanging on a large LVL) with a Certenteed MemBrain vapour barrier between the framing and the drywall.

My question is - what should I use for an air barrier and foam board and what is the best sequence? I was going to use 1.5" EPS (styrofoam) just to keep the cost down. Want to use something like Blueskin VP100, but it seems like it only goes straight on the OSB sheathing - every house I see here in my area has the housewrap/airbarrier (usually Tyvek) on the outside of the foam, just behind the finished siding.

Question is, what is the best sequence and what is the best product to use as an air barrier?

Best wall assembly in Ontario, Canada?

Hi all

I'm building an addition onto my house, which is essentially a stand alone house which gets connected through a link/breeze way.

Where are all the Fitbit Air bicep bands at?

I saw a bunch of reviews that basically said the bicep bands from Chinese companies whuld be out very quickly after the Air itself.

Just, I can't really seem to find any on Amazon or even Aliexpress. For the Hume, Whoop and Helio there are tons available on the $10-15 range..

What gives?

Value of Arctic Red Maple GSAR limited edition?

Hi all. I'm in the market for an ADANAC Red Maple GSAR, the one they made for Canada's 157th anniversary. There is only one for sale I can find (chrono24) but it's $3200CAD which seems really high considering I've seen these sell for $1800 just a year ago. Did they go up that much or is it just a seller trying to make bank?

Food and calorie logging with the fitbit app?

TL;DR: Switched from Amazfit/Zepp to Fitbit Air. Zepp's AI food logging (photo or text) worked great for tracking calories and protein. Does Fitbit offer similar features and a good daily food overview, or should I stick with Zepp?

Hi all

I switched from a Amazfit Helio Strap to the Fitbit Air a week or two ago. I was using the Amazfit app Zepp to log my calorie and I really liked it. I could take a picture and it would estimate or I could write whatever I ate and the AI would determine the amount of calories and protein. I know it wasn't perfect but it worked for me and I have been loosing weight consistently since I started (6 months) so I'm happy.

My hunch says just to stay with the Zepp app but I would like to get everything under one roof and I'd like the AI coach in the Fitbit app to know about my calorie/protein intake.

My questions are if anyone is using the Fitbit app to log their calories? I feel like I'm missing something, but there doesn't seem to be a daily overview if what I've eaten? Am I able to take a picture or just explain through text what I've eaten and the AI can determine the food lntake? (that was really helpful Zepp)?

What do you guys think?

Looking for more tight fitting clothes after loosing weight.

Hi all. 41m. I've lost 30lb since new years and I finally have a somewhat desirable body (to me, lol). I have work large sized clothes since as long as I can remember but now I would like something that is a bit more tight fitting, but since I'm a bit on the taller side (6'2"), going to a medium, everything is too short and looks wrong. Only brand (of the stuff I own) that seems to do the job is Peak Performance, but other than that, everything is too loosly fitting now.

Looking for recommendation on clothing brands (sporty/casual) that will fit more tigh but still be long enough to not look like I'm a kid who outgrew my shirt :)

Thanks in advance and happy weekend!

Missing police alerts from Android Auto

The only thing I really miss from my old Mazda was that Android Auto could warn me of different stuff going on like debris on road, crashes, cops etc. I know I can "just" have Android Auto going on my phone but it doesn't feel very smooth to have two different navigation systems going at the same time.. Is there really no way, app or something, that can help me get the alerts back without having to run Android Auto or Waze in the background? whats the best, least intrusive solution?

How to make breakfast better? (rolled oats)

Hi all. Every morning I eat overnight oats with 40g rolled oats, 15g chia seeds, 15g ground flax, 20g hemp hearts, 1 cup of milk, and a banana on top. It comes out to around 650 calories.

Lunch is just a protein shake (190 cals), so I can "bank" calories for dinner and evening snacks.

I feel like this breakfast is already pretty solid, but I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing or could swap in to get more nutritional value out of it. Anyone have suggestions? The internet says protein powder which makes it hard as a rock and greek yogourt which I generally like, but not mixed in with oats. What else are my options for making it even more nutritious and filling?
