I've added a couple of thread devices to my network, which I think is currently being served by the Google Home hubs. I can see them in my Home Assistant Matter addon, but HA isn't the TBR. Maybe it's the controller, I'm unsure.

I'd like to have a more dedicated TBR with a SLZB dongle. Would it be a good idea to reset these thread over matter devices and disable thread on the Google Home and Onn box? I've read mixed things about the Google Home making it's own isolated thread network vs. it contributing to the mesh for thread - I'm not sure if having the closed ecosystems contributes to making my thread network better or not.

I have a Mint Mobile provided S25. The network lock status is not under Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings.

Is Mint Mobile / T-Mobile doing something to hide that status? I know I can check IMEI lock status by calling them, but this should be info that they shouldn't be able to hide from you in the first place.

I have a carrier provided Motorola Stylus phone. It doesn't network unlock until Feb 2027. But I have the bootloader unlock code from Motorola's portal - Metro's Moto phones seem to be bootloader unlockable. I was wondering if I should wait until the network unlock happens before I try execute the bootloader unlock? Or does it matter?

Can I just hold on to the unlock code until next year? Or does the unlock code expire and I have to request another one?

I'm getting some weird behavior with ProtonVPN and firefox. I see other people are also running into this issue, but haven't seen any resolution. I'm able to access websites with chrome, but not firefox when connected to ProtonVPN like 5 out of 7 times.

I don't know why, I can't find a pattern. Just...weird. I've not run into this issue with PIA or other VPNs.

Anyone else been successful at disabling OS updates? I have custom launcher and things are working well. I don't want any OS updates to muck stuff up. I can block domains at my router level like I've done with Amazon Fire TV boxes, but that would block google stuff for other devices on my lan. But maybe.

Edit: I think this was all because of my shutdown timer. I turn shutdown to never, and it seems to have fixed the issue? But it still seems to transition from whatever sleep state to on. So I'm hoping it's still saving power.

I'm unable to turn on the Onn 4K Pro 2026 via the power button the remote if the unit has been off for a couple of hours. I've tried turning off the Android systems shutdown timer. The LED on the Onn 4K is red the entire time I'm attempting to turn it on via the remote's power button or just pressing bunch of other buttons on the remote.

• I do have the TV on (via the TV remote) at this time, and it's on the correct HDMI input. The TV is displaying "no input" because the Onn is not on.
• The remote itself seems to be working. I have to unplug and then plug in the Onn steaming box to get it to power up. But once it's powered up, the remote is working fine.
• I've also tried pressing the remote finder button on top of the Onn when it's powered off, nothing happens, the remote does't ring. That top button doens't turn on the Onn.

On my unit, the LED is red when it's off (but plugged in), but it's also red when it's on and being used. The LED only turns white during power up process, then turns red again after power up.

I do have Projectivy installed and using that as my main launcher.

If I turn off the Onn via the power button on the remote, wait a few minutes, and then press the remote's power button again, it works to turn on the Onn. But if I wait a longer like 2 hours, the power button on the remote no longer turns on the Onn.

Is this a me problem? I don't see any other people having the issue.

Very specific question about how tailscale exit nodes work and how to maintain local LAN access. I'd like my nvidia shield TV box to be connected to my friend's tailscale network, using one of his nodes as an exit node - all the time. For reasons. He is two states over from me in California.

But I also have a local NAS server on my local network that I use for playing media on my nvidia shield. I'd like to maintain access to my local NAS as well as my friend's tailscale's exit node.

Is that possible? When I go to 192.168.1.104, for example, does my local nvidia shield go to my local network or his? Or does it use his exit node when I want to access something on the internet?

Note, I'm not using his subnet router. He has no subnet router setup.

The River 3 Plus has a USB port that you can use for monitoring. The port acts like a keyboard USB device. Is it possible to also change the Ecoflow River from this port? Ecoflow isn't very forthcoming with using this port, and you have to contact them for the windows app that's used to shutdown your computer it looks like.

I'd rather get away from installing Ecoflow's bluetooth app on my phone, can't use it to automate things. I'd rather script something on a computer/server that can be left alone.

I've been reading some bad things about the Ecoflow UPS functionality, but it's often with regards to brown outs. I'm just looking for the UPS to function for complete power outages to keep my basement server running.

Is that pretty reliable? I wasn't planning on putting a proper UPS after the Ecoflow River Plus - just have the Ecoflow act as UPS. So it'd be in passthrough most of the time, and only switch to battery when power is out.

Looking for a TV box for Netflix, Plex, youtube and PBS app mostly. Highest priority is being able to sideload VPN apps and tailscale, not seeing ads, and installing custom launcher.

I have some high bitrate 4K videos on Plex that are sometimes hard to play in lower power devices. I want to get away from the Fire Cube locked down ecosystem and hoops for sideloading. What's your opinions on the Onn Pro 2 vs the Google TV streamer in terms of:

• least likely to get in the way of me using the device how I want? For example, allowing custom launchers, side loading, tailscale
• Do the default home page differ between the two devices? They're both AndroidTV, but I don't know if Google's streamer does "more" to push ads/personalization.
• Although the Onn seems to be 20% faster, the things I'm asking the device to do is pretty mild, so I probably won't see much difference between the two devices in terms of performance? Is that true?
• Coming from the Fire Cube, I'm used to just blocking updates to the devices just to avoid anything anything changing. Is that a viable strategy with either device? Are there any day-1 out of the box bugs on them that are super annoying? Is it possible to block firmware updates either on device setting or via router DNS?

Any other opinions on things I haven't considered?

I currently have my bank card as a payment method. If I want to take my venmo balance and send it to my bank, I have to "Link a bank account" to do the transfer without fees.

However, linking my bank account seems like a drastic step? What's other people experience of Plaid? I've seen some concerning responses from a year ago that once Plaid has your account info, they can just watch over your bank balance however they want? I only want to link the account to allow them to route money to/from the account, not for them to check my balance wtf. That's not how other bank account linking features work on other services.

The amazon reviews are pretty bad - complaints about update rate, battery drain. But it's hard to decide if it's just user error or whatever.

Any other reddit users actually used one? Is the Moto Tag 1 the best right now without the unknowns of the Moto Tag 2? Trying to decide for an upcoming trip my parents are taking.

I tried accessing an SMB share that required a password, which worked, but required me to create some KDE wallet and use that wallet every time I want to access that network share.

I tried disabling the KDE wallet, and now I can't access the SMB share. "Error while connecting to server".

There's nothing wrong with the share, it's still accessible from other devices, it's something odd with Bazzite.

I thought using Bazzite would be better than windows, but from network shares to shared partitions not being visible in steam, to very basic onscreen keyboard not really working...I kinda think the issues with windows were more manageable. Bazzite defaults are just insane.

I just installed Bazzite yesterday sometimes I still need desktop mode to do some thing. I see there's lots of posts from lots of people saying how the onscreen keyboard sucks, and holy cow does it suck. But the solutions are all over the place. Some people run some script from a rando on github. Some people say to enable the KDE keyboard that doesn't exist. What are Ally users doing?

I'm in the process of setting up dualboot Bazzite and windows on Rog Ally. Mostly intending for the Ally to boot up in Bazzite and be game ready with some bluetooth controllers, and playing mostly switch emulation and old PS1/nintendo emulation. I have one stream game - CS - that I play.

So I think emudeck and Steam would be what I'd install?

• Windows Partition: NTFS
• Bazzite Partition: BTRFS
• Shared Partition: NTFS?

If I only plan on using Bazzite for emulation games, can I put the ROMS on a shared NTFS partition?

I read that Bazzite doesn't support game files on a shared NTFS partition. But does that only apply for games that require installation? Do ROMs get around the NTFS issue?

I'd like to be able to use the shared partition for windows install files.

I'm using this tutorial to dual boot bazzite and windows. I have a lot of ROMS and want both windows and Bazzite to access them. I thought this tutorial was for me since it mentioned "shared internal game drive". I want both Windows and Bazzite to be able to access the ROMs.

But then the OP made a comment about needing to make Bazzite partition larger. Can't you just install Bazzite games onto the shared partition? I was thinking my SteamOS games - instead of using up the windows partition - could also occupy the share partition that way I don't have to think too hard about how big the windows partition has to be?

I was leaning towards NTFS for the shared partition since other comments mention NTFS is fine.

I'm interested in a MultiPlus for some portable use cases around the house. But the wiring ends seem to be made for stationary installations - like in an RV. I'd like to make it so the MultiPlus can be used as a portable inverter - allow me to use ring-terminal cables to hook up to 12V batteries, and plug in 120VAC receptcables for things like TV's and small fridge. I might use the UPS functions at some point too. So both the charging plug, battery connection, and 120VAC output needs to be unpluggable.

It's been hard to find someone doing that with a MultiPlus. I basically want to make use of the MultiPlus in a more flexible way than permanent installations, like an office UPS + battery charger + portable inverter combined.

I just installed Jellyfin and didn't really know what collections are so I enabled it. After realizing it's some confusing random collection movies and just doesn't work well, I tried to figure out how to delete it. But I can't seem to delete it? I manage to delete it from one user, but the collections library seems to exist for all users so I have to go into each individual user and delete it from that user's profile?

But not all users have admin/dashboard editing capabilities, so I'm at a lost. Even users that do can't seem to always delete the collection? I click delete on the collection library and it just sits there.
