I tried J-fets, BJTs, MOSFETS, vacuum tubes, any amplifier just for it to go back to fools gold. Everything else failed at a simple task except a frickin rock. It always goes back to fools gold it’s the only thing that doesn’t fail me constantly. Also if you were wondering if this thing was any good it’s not I got like 2 feet with it and I get better range just disconnecting the coil and using it as a spark gap transmitter might add a modulator in order to get an audio signal out of it tho.

New door knob didn’t have a lock so I thought if life give you lemons burn down life’s house with the door lock.

It’s kind of a ship of Theseus situation but the main inductor is the same. I can’t find an image of what it first looked like but it use to just be a variable inductor, 20ft antenna, germanium diode, and an impedance matching transformer. Now it’s got a fools gold cat whisker, the same variable inductor coil but a different wiper/brush, 3trimmer capacitors, a 50ft antenna, screw tabs for an earpiece, an inductor for filtering static, and sounds slightly better. I’ve tried like 4 different forms of tuners but this appears to be the best way to do it without spending like 9$ on a tuning capacitor.

When I applied 2.4volts across the gate coil it cleared up static but when I applied 9volts with a potentiometer to control voltage and amperage it started catching on fire and did not filter out static or tune the radio(maybe it did I was distracted by trying to not catch my desk on fire).

I’ve heard it oscillate through an earpiece but it’s not strong enough to move a meter or turn on an LED. I tried arduino but that didn’t work (I dunno why I don’t really use microcontrollers).

I hooked up an earpiece and thought it didn’t work cuz I just heard static. Then I realized batteries don’t have static.
