Atlas Shrugged, should I go on?? POSSIBLE SPOILERS

If possible, without spoilers

Should I go on. I am on page 257 chapter 9. I decided it was a hole in my reading journey so now in retirement picked it up.

I really like the whole train story. Just about everything going on with Rearden and Dagny is really good, Not great but I have enjoyed it. I like the whole .. the world is trying to stop us but through brilliance and tenacity we will get it done.

The parts with James and the other cohorts (looters) and the nod to socialism are WAY heavy handed and I might have possibly maybe enjoyed them when I was 15 but .. just seem silly and the characters are lucky if they are 2 dimensional. Ugh the Philosopher and the writer are putrid.

So .. am I just going to hate the rest .. it really is just an Ok book but I just finished Frankenstein and that was pretty amazing. I do want to kind of tough it out but .. Its a slog when it isnt about the challenges faced by Rearden and Dagny and how they overcome them. Book reads its over 1000 pages. Dont mind a long read but .. I am only near 300

My New Colt wheel gun!

Just picked this up and am excited to get out there Tuesday and give it some trigger time. I have had a lot of guns over the years and think its a beauty. I am a revolver fan so this lit all the right buttons

Can I assume that kydex iwb for say a Charter arms 6 shot might work for this gun if I ever decided to carry it. I cant seem to find Kydex specifically for this model.

Feelbarefoot on Etsy

Still LOVING these. Bought them Beginning of January 25 but the thin rubber I had requested was coming undone so I just installed new rubber. These are my throw on quick shoes and have seen many miles. I have other barefoot shoes but if we are just marching off to the store or going strolling these are my go to the same way some people use sneakers.

Should get another year and a half out of them now!!

I have these as well and well broken in .. they look great even just for jeans .. for when I am feeling Fancy!! :)

K2 is AWESOME but .. the recoil spring ??

Took my K2 out to play today and still am floored with the gun. What an absolutely awesome shooter. I have had at least 7 different .45's over the years and this may be my favorite for ease of shooting.

However .. that recoil spring is not to task. If I load a mag and the slingshot to release the slide and drive a round into the chamber it can barely load the round. It creeps in.

Seems to shoot alright even though I had 2 today fail to fully chamber and need a tap to get seated.

Has anyone changed the recoil spring? what did you get and where did you get it? Does anyone know what weight the original is so maybe I can dig through my bag of recoil springs past and see if I have anything I can try.

Damn near perfect gun but that spring is way to soft for that gun if it has trouble stripping and chambering a round when you sling shot the slide.

Certainly could just need a little more break in to seat the rails but ??

Steel 38's?

Besides the colt cobra in 38 .. Are there any other reputable steel 38's available any more. Looks like Ruger is only offering the LCR and Smith only has the aluminum frames.

I certainly dont know thier complete model lines so thought I would ask.

Thanks Fellas

A question and another thank you to the group

First .. thank you .. Straight razor shaver for some 30 years that recently switched over to safety razor.

First I learned the J hook .. Awesome technique and was the last remaining thing shave wise I needed to get a great shave.

Then .. after YEARS of using williams soap... I kept reading about ArKo shave soap. Yea .. a bunch of guys hate the smell .. I personally found it very pleasant and dont dislike it at all.

But

More importantly you talked about its glide ability so I had to try it. First shave with it last night. That stuff is wonderful !!!

Thick bodied lather I never achieved with Williams and REALLY nice glide. Not a single nic or irritation. Cheap and its awesome. Ordered a box of 12. Think I am set for life.

Now my question

Nylon washer or not. I got some that fit perfectly from lowes after seeing some of you comment on them. I am using an all stainless head and stainless handle .. what are your feelings on using a nylon washer between the two?

LCR Initial thoughts

I posted a bit back asking for thoughts on the LCR vs the 642.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Revolvers/comments/1v0b84b/lcr_or_air_weight/

So I went ahead and bought one

https://www.reddit.com/r/Revolvers/comments/1vb3zek/new_revolver_and_a_happy_ending/

Today was My first range day and I wanted to share my thoughts for anyone else wondering which to get. of course these opinions are just that.

Just a little about my shooting history before I weigh in. First handgun was a revolver and that was nearly 40 years ago. Over the years I have shot THOUSANDS of rounds through all sorts of guns, run and gun, classes shoot from the ground .. Lots o Shooting. Still shoot once a week.

I had the 642 for a good while. Not a fun gun to shoot recreationally so I would check it or my ability to shoot it well every now and again but all in all .. it was a pocket gun and not a lot of fun.

Concealability

The 642 really shines against the LCR here. I could comfortably slip the 642 into my front pocket of virtually any pants I wore and was able to draw from the pocket. I would say a good 80% of the time I carried that gun it was in my front pocket.

When carried AIWB it was barely noticeable. The super short grip made it so it didn't print at all.

The LCR is a pretty large gun in comparison. I attached pix of it on top a SAR 9mm which is glock 19 size and they are pretty close. Except for the significant weight difference .. the LCR is a big gun compared to the 642 and its noticeable. I can get it in my pocket easy enough but I wouldn't be able to draw it quickly or at least as quickly as the 642 from the pocket.

When carrying the LCR AIWB I am aware of it and it does print. With the 642 I barely knew I had a gun with me.

If you need DEEP concealment 642 is the way to go. You can wear chinos or office slacks with it in the front pocket and no one would know. I cant say you can do the same with the LCR

Shootability

Here is where the LCR shines FOR ME. The fuller size grip means you can get on it. All A zone hits from 5-10 yds. all hits in a 9x6 box easy. You can get all over this gun and you get negligible muzzle rise. My Fiber optic gave a tiny bounce and fire again. Sweet.

I could have shot the gun easily out to 15 yds accurately .. something I NEVER was able to do with my 642.

Recoil compared to the 642 is a dream. I fired about 30 of my reloads through it to start out which I would never have done with my 642 because I found it miserable to shoot.

I then wanted to check my SD ammo so I fired 6 rds of Underwood 158grSWC 38 and then 6 rds of Underwood 158grSWC 38+p

Both were absolutely manageable with quick follow up.

So in the end .. They are dissimilar enough that you might want to own both. If you want to have something more than a pocket knife but are going somewhere sensitive and need an excellent hideaway .. its the 642. For me though .. its a belly gun.

If you want what amounts to nearly a full size snubby that you can hit at range with comfortably and can handle recoil from some spicier ammo without you needing a chiropractor .. LCR all the way.

On a completely subjective note .. The LCR felt better put together to me. Everything clicked and snicked very nicely. The 642 feels like a toy and the LCR felt like a gun. Again .. that comes with pluses and minuses.

I liked the LCR shooting experience enough that while I don't want to beat on a plastic aluminum gun .. I will certainly take it out for a few rounds just for fun which is something I never did with the 642.

On another note .. I finished out my range visit with a few from my Gp100 .. god I think it is the best 3 in revolver ever made. have that gun over 10 years. favorite of all the guns I own. 25yd shots from DA are a breeze. Man do I love that gun.

S&W is it just unsafe to buy one right now

Follow the posts here everyday and keep reading about QC issues. I have revolver on the brain and among a couple I am thinking about was a 686 plus deluxe.

Should I just scratch it off the list?

New Revolver and a Happy ending!!

I had posted asking about this gun a couple weeks back. I had a 642 already but I am kind of a ruger fan and like the look of this guy.

Went searching around and best price was Sportsmans warehouse at $439 and its about 20 minutes from me so I ordered it on the 26th and ship to store date estimate was the 7th.

Got the "ITS HERE" email yesterday and went this morning to pick it up.

Go through the paper work and such and the woman helping me says .. hey since the time you ordered this gun it has gone on special.

"Oh Cool"

I figured maybe I was getting 10 bucks off. Nope .. it was now $359 and she hands me a gift card for $80!!!!!!!!!

That my friends .. is a good revolver day.

Steelflier WR test of 1

Dont scuba and its only a test of one but spent about 2 hours hanging out in the river and it was submerged for most of that and ... No water made it past the seals.

Love this watch! Even if its a beast

Razor complete .. UFO handle is AWESOME!!

Kampfe Muhle41 clone in Stainless with the UFO handle!! Love it

I dont know why I didn't just get this handle from the very beginning but I went ahead and tried some 3 others before ordering this from "Italian Barber"

Now my not so long journey for my perfect forever razor is complete.

Haven't shaved in 3 days just waiting and I am also trying Shave butter for the first time in my life because I got some free. Using a bowl and brush for over 35 years so wish me luck.

Think price is a bit on the high side but I added it to my wishlist to see what it might be on any future sale. Anyone have some experience with them?

What are you guys doing with your single actions?

I have been acquiring guns for ages and for the most part stick to my rule of anything I buy needs to have a practical purpose. For me that mostly means .. if I needed to I could carry it.

Now .. I have plenty of handguns that I can carry but MAN .. i just cant stop looking at that stainless Blackhawk in .357.

The only single action we have here is my wifes Heritage .22

So .. just curious .. are you single action guys all doing cowboy competition or ??

Ruger security six

There is one available locally and its gorgeous. Is it possible to still find parts for it?

If it needs work, will ruger work on it?

I have "New Revolver Fever" and it might be the fix I need! :)

Nutricost Tongkat Ali

63m

I wanted to try Tongkat Ali and read recommendations between 200 and 400 mg.

The Nutricost says 1000 mg but I know supplements find creative ways of doing numbers.

I lift regularly and have since my mid teens. Dont expect to be a gym monster like my younger days but trying to stay in shape. I also feel like even on a pretty restricted diet I am putting on some fat.

Obviously we all know that as a man ages his tester one levels drop and I just wanted to feel better.

Is the Nutricost Tongkat Ali any good? Been taking it as directed for about 5 days and one thing I noticed is a far better mood but outside of that.. ??

PC Detective type games for older people

There is some suggestion that certain video games can help ward off some cognitive decline.

Aside from that .. They are fun.

I would like to find something for my wife kind of like Resident evil but without the violence.

Follow clues, look for items, some simple way finding, puzzles. Love it if you spotted something in room A and now have to find your way back to it.

She likes "who done its"

Its for a 70 yr old so bonus if it has some cool graphics that aren't to child like. We have an updated gaming PC so a game that looks good as well might be great.

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions!!
