Senna Support

What is she currently building? She changes so often that I have trouble keeping up.

It’s my understanding that DFT isn’t as broken as it was when it granted the fervor move speed from cleaver. However, it still gives some magic damage so makes her harder to itemize against?

I had been running aery -> cleaver -> RFC.

Is statikk now taken over RFF? I like the range from RFC, and statikk had always been a wave clear tool in my eyes?

And is fleet footwork worth taking again with the buffs?

Why is Camille Top Weak

I am learning top lane. I’m loving Irelia, Gwen, and Illaoi. I wanted to try Camille but she has a low win rate and seems like most guides say she’s not worth even learning.

Why? She has taken over support — what is gating her from being strong top? Is riot planning on buffing her, or is she like Zeri, Yuumi, etc. where she has to be kept weak because of pro play? The latter is I all can imagine to be true.

Echoes of Helia

Could someone help me understand Karma’s current and best build?

I see her highest win rate / most commonly built first item is echoes… but she doesn’t seem like the best user of it because of her Q range and because landing Q outside of lane gets progressively more dangerous.

I’d started playing her when her first item was Moonstone for a big RE shield. Why are we now building echoes? Why not just play Seraphine Nami Sona if I’m going to build echoes first item?

The State of Seraphine

I keep coming back to this thought experiment and don’t know what to do with it, so wanted to see if anyone else had feedback.

Imagine if league had no runes or keystones and imagine if items were only stat sticks (raw AP, haste, magic pen, heal shield power, AD, crit, etc.)

What would be left of Seraphine?

I know this is an extreme and near 0% chance of happening, and that other champs (Irelia -> Bork) would also feel bad. But I also feel like it says a lot about what even makes Seraphine strong in the current meta.

Assuming no item passives and no runes/keystones… what even is her identity? I think enchanter would become very weak and mage would be nearly unviable. This seems like it makes the case that item power creep is real, and just last year I’d thought riot was trying to move away from “playing items” to “playing champions”

Curious what others think.

Echoes of Helia

Can someone explain why most of the time this is built? As a Seraphine main — my understanding is that it converts damage into healing. I’m trying to learn Sona. From what I understand, Sona is already able to spam heals, and has much more limited damage than Seraphine (lower range, solely two targets with Q—plus requiring steeping up and potentially getting chunked or picked).

I don’t understand why she wouldn’t just rush moonstone and skip helia for a standard enchanter build. I am obviously missing something? Is her base Q damage high enough that if there are two melee champions on the enemy team she gets enough value from echoes? And to get that value she basically needs to land Q on two enemies and she needs to babe extended trades or prolonged team fights?

This item seems situational to me, given she needs to the enemies to allow her to constantly walk up and she needs her team to have a front line that doesn’t get bursted from 100 to 0. I must be either misunderstanding Sona’s kit or overestimating Seraphine’s range: to me echoes is squarely a Seraphine item since she has Q and E that can be thrown from range. And Sona has a single ability that hits at most two targets just outside of auto attack range.

Favorite Support for Laning

Do you like Sona? What is your favorite support for laning? I don’t play Smolder — I mainly play support. And when I ADC, I’ll usually play Ashe or Vayne. For a while this champion was my absolute least favorite to lane with as a support (Karma, Seraphine, Morgana, Senna)

I very recently picked up Sona. I thought she had a bad reputation with ADC mains, but almost all of my Smolder lanes have gone super well and have been way more fun than when I pick Karma and try to force a Smolder to snowball early. I think a big part of this is solo queue Smolders play passive, which means we both don’t die when the ADC thinks Sona can trade like Karma or Nami.

Do you all generally like Sona? Or do you prefer someone who helps you snowball? In my experience, most random solo queue smolders use Q to last hit minions for stacks and not to poke enemy champions to stack (similar to the solo queue Senna experience with slow scaling on passive souls instead of active & rapid scaling on enemies — would imagine smolder mains want stacks from enemies for lane pressure since poking + scaling is better than no poke and scaling).

TLDR: Who is your favorite support for the lane phase? Do you like Sona — why or why not?

What to build

I very rarely play sona, but my last match Seraphine was taken and senna was banned. I’d usually go karma, but wanted to try something different + we had a smolder ADC so I was worried all my early pressure would be wasted on a passive player—just because in my experience smolders rarely want to snowball early and instead want to Q minions and scale slowly.

Lolalytics had this insane build recommendation with two tears and building fimbul + seraphs. I decided just to give it a go and she felt insanely strong once I got my items.

I also potentially trolled my build. I had fimbul purchased and my second tear already stacked with enough gold for seraphs, so on one of my backs I bought a third tear and ended up stacking it to diadem lol. While I was stacking tear I just bought dawncore.

This really only worked because the game dragged on so long. I already thought two tears was kind of troll, but sona stacks them so quickly.

TLDR: Is fimbul + seraphs a legit build? It must be since it is highest win rate on lolalytics? And how does sona even get away with her first item not having AP or heal/shield power?

Your Most Fun Champion Even When Losing

I’m posting this because I just had a lot of fun on a game I lost as Renata.

I played well and was given an ACE score on opgg/dpmlol. I did everything I could with warding, roaming, and clutch use of her kit. We were ahead early and I even managed to help my Qiyana and Kayn get a lead. Then the team started making really silly plays… presumably assuming they were invincible and not realizing I can’t W them if I am not there.

Despite the loss it was a fun a game.

I feel like on other supports I would have been much more frustrated. Like if I was on Senna and played well early and scaled into a threat, then had to watch what my team did I would’ve been much more annoyed.

Most Frustrating Role

What do you all think is the most frustrating role? I’d been an ADC main for a while. I’ve played a lot of support too.

Lately I’ve just been trying all roles in draft. I have been shocked at how much I don’t like jungling. And I’ve been equally shocked how much I do like top lane.

I think if I were to order from most to least frustrating, right now I’d say:

  1. Jungle
  2. ADC
  3. Mid
  4. Support
  5. Top

Most games when I play top lane, even if I lose it “feels” like it is my fault. And even when I’m doing well top, split pushing and generally performing well, I don’t feel hamstrung my a teammate.

Support when I get a silly ADC, I can roam and just hover whoever is playing well.

Mid is nice because you have map presence similar to a support. You can roam or just scale. And the lane is short enough that you can shove and go do something else, or freeze and deny enemy mid.

ADC can have a terrible lane because of a bad support. But at least your job is limited to farming and grouping. Just map awareness and following up.

Jungle feels like you’re responsible for everything. And at the same time, you’re somewhat at the mercy of your laners.

Learning Top - Why is My OP Score Low?

Hi all,

I’m new to top lane. I’ve primarily been playing Irelia against everyone’s recommendations… But nearly every game I win lane or go even to the point I can just permanently split push.

My cs/min has been high.

My kda has always been above 1.0–usually higher but sometimes the enemy team sends 2-3 for my split and I’ll only take one down with me.

My KP has been OK—think this is fine since I’m primarily split pushing, my goal isn’t really to be a team fight threat so much as a tempo threat. This kind of deflates the whole teams KP too, though.

My objectives could be better? I’ll help on grubs, herald, and drag if TP is up and the opportunity cost of winning/losing drag is higher than getting a turret/ forcing enemies away from drag to answer my push.

But I keep basically winning games via side lane, getting an S score in the stat screen, only to see I was ranked low on OPGG.

Is this just expected? Do stat sites not consider destroying the enemy nexus when calculating the scores? It seems so weird to me. I never have this playing mid, adc, support. But those roles all interact with the enemy team a lot more often by design.

I’ve had games where I solo take both turrets in base + nexus after splitting most of game.

Hybrid support builds

Hi everyone! I’ve been defaulting to Helia and Diadem most games, rounding out with Redemption or Mikael’s situationally and Moonstone or Dawncore last.

I’m trying to figure out if there’s a build that keeps the Helia and Diadem interaction but lets me push a bit more AP forward, without fully giving up the enchanter identity. I was thinking about SoFW or the new Mandate third, but I don’t know if either of those really gets me there. Sera’s AP ratios are low enough that she always kind of needed item passives like Liandry’s to actually hurt, and I feel like SoFW or Mandate paired with two pure enchanter items still wouldn’t translate into real damage.

Has anyone made something like this work? I’m wondering about third item flex slots that keep the Helia/Diadem core but actually let me threaten kills instead of just healing through fights.

Discord Integration

What does everyone think about this? It seems like if any other company was rolling this out I’d be on board.

The client is super buggy (for me, at least) and vanguard is already picky about background processes and overlays.

Are you going to use this new feature? Do you have any reservations with using it?

Riot Vanguard Crashes

I’m hoping someone in this subreddit has experienced and resolved this. I feel like I’ve tried everything, so now I’m trying to crowd source ideas.

I have been getting black screens and crashes during the loading screen. I’ve been going back and forth with support for almost a month, but feel like I’m not making progress and they keep ignoring my requests to help me isolate the issue. I keep getting automated “fix” solutions: run DDU, update drivers, run a disk repair, DNS swap, TCP/UDP permissions.

When I look at the logs myself, I see Sentry event is flagged fatal with game.clientstate: Bootstrap and transition Pop: Bootstrap. Breadcrumb files are empty (zero bytes), meaning the crash fires before init completes. Only matchmade games crash, custom games load fine.

My working theory is something is breaking Vanguard’s handshake during startup. I’m using WiFi, so I’m going to test on ethernet to rule out networking layer problem.

Has anyone else hit this exact crash pattern and actually beat it? I’m desperately trying to find a solution.

How do you play this champ?

Just in general can someone explain like bread and butter combos? I mainly play adc and support, but have been trying to branch out to assassins.

After a lot of work (and a lot of inting in norms) I can now pilot Evelynn or Katarina and it kind of looks like I know what I’m doing.

For Katarina, someone told me to use E to get ontop of the enemy, and then QW for burst and E reset to get back out. I’d previously been throwing a dagger with Q and trying to blink to the dagger, hoping the enemy would walk onto the dagger for me.

For Evelynn, someone told me if I’m relying on my charm to kill a squishy in mid to late game, I’m doing something wrong and should be able to one shot an adc without putting W on cooldown.

Both of those things were super helpful to hear. I don’t know what I’m doing right or wrong on Akali, but I feel like I’m brand new to the game again when I try to play her. Is there anything new Akalis often get completely wrong?

This is sort of a follow up from my post about guardian vs aery keystones. I pretty much always default to solstice sleigh for my supp item upgrade. She’s so slow and fragile if caught out, and the little bit of movespeed and max HP (plus font of life heal), help me to live in those situations.

It also feels helpful with an immobile ADC. I always thought W cooldown was too long for dream maker to be useful, and that all things even that I just get more uptime from sleigh.

Again, the build and stat websites are confusing me. Most Seraphines (and the highest win rate) is Dream maker. IMO, I’m healing and shielding nowhere near as often as nami or karma, so what’s the point of dream maker every 22 seconds (plus CDR)… I don’t even control which teammate gets the dream maker proc too since I just shield everyone. Are there any dream maker believers who have an opinion? Does the helia diadem combo proc it often enough for it to be useful? How do you avoid giving your malzahar the dream maker attack speed buff instead of your jinx in a teamfight? And what does it do, on Seraphine, that is better than solstice sleigh?

I just noticed on lolalytics that aery is even in term of win rate with guardian on support. But guardian has a significantly lower pick rate than I expected. I thought we took this to help with her ling W cooldown to give more ways to proc helia? Did something change?

I usually play support but wanted to try the new Vayne skin. Plus, I’m low elo so this match can be taken with a grain of salt. Also my CS was absolute trash and I died too much. 🙃 But holy cow, crit Vayne can do SO much damage.
