In the category of just bafflingly bad organizational treatment of their customers... apparently last night at Mansfield Stadium was quite the shitshow.

Not only did the club pull the ol' switcheroo last minute by emailing ticket holders that oh yeah you do have to pay for parking for $19 or 25 -- for dirt lots mind you -- that whole parking situation was a disaster.

Half a dozen friends said they were in a single file line of cars that was 30-45 minutes to get in. If you were wondering why the stadium looked so empty or there were no drums until almost halftime, everyone was waiting to park by the TWO attendants for 1000s of cars. I can't imagine how irate I would've been to drive an hour to the stadium and then wait almost that long again to park, missing the first half.

Yea, I wasn't there. but this club just doesn't ever seem to learn and it's outrageous. In the very least they owe an email of apology to ticket holders, and if they really want to make it right, some kind of compensation for the fact that their bungling led so many ticket holders to missing a lot of the match. (A match that wasn't included as a perk for STMs anymore btw.)

Maybe someone knows, I have two annoyances I’d like resolved but realize they probably won’t be.

1. After remote starting and getting into the vehicle my phone never connects to CarPlay. I have to go to device options to toggle the connection manually. Any trick to automatically connect after remote starting?

2. is there a way to delay the responsiveness to perceived darkness for the car to go to night mode? just because I pass under a bridge doesn’t mean it’s dark out and it’s annoying how it flips to it and right back to daytime mode.

A couple weeks ago I started looking into how to play the credit card game to maximize rewards for travel, which my partner and I want to begin doing now that we have the means. I talked to a friend who REALLY is into it and while his level is a little too hardcore, I wanted to add a couple cards to my portfolio. His workhorse is Chase Sapphire and Freedom but I decided that the Capital One Venture X and upgrading my AMEX to Gold was the best fit for me.

I filled out the pre-qualify form just to see what I was looking at and I was actually denied! I could not believe it. My jaw hit the floor. My credit is over 830+ and 8-9 average years. I researched more and called them to see if there would be chance of success for an appeal, and of course, hopes looked dim. But it just did not make sense and my friend was shocked too. I was so sad because I thought all my plans were ruined.

I decided to roll the dice and do the formal application with hard check. Somehow, I was approved and not only that, I received a $40,000 credit limit! I immediately went boat shopping. JUST KIDDING! I’ve transferred all our bills to the card and using it for all purchases, so that we can get the sign-up bonus points. Once that’s done I’ll upgrade my AMEX and do the same thing there. Then I’ll settle out the two cards to be Venture for everyday spending and travel. AMEX Gold for all food, dining out and groceries. (I couldn’t estimate out that we’d get $895+ of benefits from Platinum.)

I’ve been having fun (if that’s the right word?) browsing shopping offers and seeing where I can get any bonuses. But that leads to my first question. On the Capital One offers page, I can’t find any means of searching for the name of a store. Is that true? Just scroll scroll scroll. I did try to filter, for example, for apparel the other day looking for a shoe store and it wasn’t listed, then later when I was just scrolling all offers, I found it. So no search and their filters are bad.

My second question, I understand that earlier this year they removed being able to bring a guest into the airport lounge. My partner is an authorized user and I know I can pay an extra annual fee to get him in, but what about just a one off visit? Can I pay a cost at the door and how much will it be?

I installed KOReader on my Kobo yesterday. Took me all morning to fix this and that ticky tack thing but I got there. Also went with SimpleUI plugin. I got KOReader sync to successfully send data up. Today I go to my X4 with Crosspoint and logged in to the KOReader sync set up. Also a success. But when I pull data down, the place in my book doesn’t change. I started researching and it looks like the file names have to be the exact same for this to work. There are two issues I think I see… Calibre uploads books to my kobo with .kepub.epub extension. And X4 adds a three digit number when loading a book with Calibre Wireless.

Sooooo who has a similar setup and successfully has KOReader syncing. What tips can you give me from your experience?

I use Calibre to load my books onto my Kobo and I’ve just installed KOReader this morning, as well. I’m like 95% good to go, except I’m seeing an issue where the Kobo UI correctly organizes my books in series, but in the KOReader UI, it is incomplete. Most series missing and the ones that ARE there, don’t have all the books in them.

I’ve looked up info and tried AI support, but can’t find the setting to correct how metadata is handled, how can I fix this?

I seem to get surprised every time movie tickets go on sale. I’m really sad I didn’t know about Odyssey today and the film IMAX theater here in Dallas is effectively sold out for as long as they have days available (okay except for 2:45am showings). The Cinemark app or Movie Club doesn’t do a notification. What do y’all use to know when advanced sales start for movies you really want to see?

I ordered, received, and confirm these part numbers for anyone who wants the all-weather mats for seating and cargo area (since parts website isn’t updated for uncharted yet). And they are Uncharted branded.

1. Subaru Connect app is not good and Toyota doesn’t seem to be incentivized to make it better. Wish we could use My Subaru app, the one actually made by Subaru. Have to refresh several times to get latest status.
2. Along same lines, I don’t need a notification that my doors are unlocked when I’m parked at home. Would like some customization on that front (I know not everyone parks in a secure garage).
3. When I remote start and get to the car, so far it has never automatically connected to CarPlay like it does when I start the car normally. Have to go to devices and toggle the CarPlay switch. Kills my desire to use remote start.
4. The reverse chime that sounds like seat belt chime. Annoying, unnecessary, and confusing. Thankfully, RESOLVED! I spent 2 hours at the dealer while they figured out how to toggle it, being the first Uncharted they worked on, but it’s gone!
5. The jiggly headlights. I filed a complaint to the NHSTA.
6. My partner and I both have fobs assigned, digital keys, and did facial recognition. But it’s pretty inconsistent what driver it thinks is at the wheel if we both get in the car with our phones (digital key).
7. I wish regen brake setting could be remembered but I understand it’s situational use means it isn’t.
8. I have repeated this test a dozen times now, when I flip the left turn signal for assisted lane change, it drifts right. Either way, the lane change assist does not realign in the next lane, it just keeps drifting. Starting to think it only exists to temporarily turn off lane tracking so it doesn’t resist the lane change but the driver has to fully do it.
9. Phones sliding around on the charging pads.
10. No mute button on steering wheel.

All that said, I love this damn vehicle. I’m thrilled to drive it every day. I missed it when I was on vacation last week. The smart features in the Jeep Compass rental we had paled in comparison. Going to work is so much more pleasant cuz it basically drives itself. I’m finding I’m way less impatient at other drivers by letting the vehicle handle speed and steering in traffic. No regrets giving up my WRX for this.
