Small steps for a pavilion in Roseville, MN

Started picking up little pieces, then found an intact snack baggie and just went for it XD

Looks like it's mostly leftovers from a baby/gender shower, but still felt nice to make use of a Sunday morning :)

Just got my period, have to go visit two different newborns over the weekend.

I don't want this to be a rant/angry, I'm just hoping to get it out and maybe get comfort from women who get it.

We've been ttc for two years, as of this month. Was going to test today for pregnancy (I'm always scared to now), and instead found out I was bleeding four days early.

I feel like it's been two years, I shouldn't keep getting devastated, but we're going to go meet my niece on my husband's side, then travel so he can meet the new niece on my side, and I just know those glowing moms are going to well-meaningly ask me how trying is going, and I'm so scared I'm going to either burst into tears in front of their babies or snap at them when they did nothing to deserve that.

We have 'unexplained' infertility, and I hate that. We've done all the tests asked of us, confirmed average humans, but if there was at least SOMETHING to point to I feel like I would have 'control' of the problem.

But I'm fine, and my husband has a low sperm count but is otherwise fine, and every month I just end up a little more crushed and confused. I've wanted kids so bad, my whole life, and I don't understand how my body doesn't want to/can't match that desire.

It did turn a bit ranty, sorry. Thank you for reading.

UPDATE: 1960s blue made it to the wedding

Per previous post, I have invested in shapewear (and lost five pounds lol) to wear this 1960s piece to my cousin's wedding. The happy couple are married with no hiccups, I am toasted, and I hope you accept the photos I was able to take to show the piece (hubbie took a few, but neither of us are Instagram certified).

Thanks everyone for helping this outfit wear come out successfully! Both in wearing correctly, and with the right shapewear underneath for it!

Need to pick two for a cocktail and wedding!

I'm almost certain that I will go with the cornflower blue '50s piece, but I can't decide if that should be for the wedding or cocktail, and then what outfit to wear in junction with it. I tend towards vintage in general, and people know that about me, so it's not the worst thing if something looks more friendly to a grandma than a woman in her thirties. 😅

I will try to answer questions if anyone has any! For the black and white velvet burnout piece, that does have a sheer back if it's relevant.

EDIT: Like a fool, I thought I would tally up the opinions. I have lost count, and have given up. BUT, 2 and 6 have the loudest consensus (10 being a runner up). I refuse to let go of my love for 4, so depending on weather, I'll make a choice between 2, 4 and 6 for the events.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to offer opinions and help!! I got a cackle out of number 8 gaining a total of negative five votes (and no positives)

Debating turning the back into a low cut to help resolve fraying issue.

I have this beautiful Wildman's dress from around the 1950s, and I adore its pattern and want to keep it for as long as possible.

I knew that the fabric was delicate, it hasn't been kept in the best state (purchased through a costume Warehouse that mostly just takes anything and everything that comes through, lots of rust stains and mold spots on other fabric pieces). I recently accidentally pulled near the third button and debated trying to mend or do a little embroidery over it. But I think the better option would be to do a scoop down the back. Can it be as easy as me tucking the pieces as shown? Am I underestimating this??

Additional pics just to show what it looks like. Just fold it down the back, and how it sits before I've done any kind of sewing.

Got a little too hopeful with clomid

My period is due in the next 48 hours, I've just tried another pregnancy test, and it came back negative.

I took clomid for the prescribed 5 days leading to ovulation, and I had more symptoms that I assumed were pregnancy related.

Guys, I was so convinced this time. I was overly lethargic, I was frequently urinating, I was struggling with road rage when I had no business feeling that way (small lie, that could have been due to the heatwave).

But now I have to settle into reality that I got too excited too fast, just because the progesterone lab showed that I had ovulated correctly, but that didn't necessarily mean there was a fertile implantation.

We started trying in September 2024, I'm not willing to pay the cost of IVF, which means we are starting to get to the end of things that we're able to do. Obviously I'll continue to take clomid for the upcoming cycles but I just feel really low right now, and I have to pull it together and go be perky at a friend gathering by 6:00.

Why is Hope such a beautiful and crushing the force?

Edit: I don't know how I missed it when I did the overview, but we've been trying since 2024, not 2022. Sorry for any confusion

Your company's policies for hazardous air conditions

Hello!
I am trying to draft a letter to our union rep regarding the recent 'smoke' day we had in Minnesota.

Summer driving is hard already, because our buses do not have AC, so avoiding heatstroke is best practiced through having a water bottle, and leaving the windows down so there's more airflow.

On Thursday, I went to work in heavy fog. Except it wasn't fog, it was smoke. I was coughing by the end of the first hour, the kids were complaining about the smell and their eyes stinging (granted, I kept almost all the back windows closed because of the initial concern- I did open my driver's window because the heat was getting to me).

We have snow days, but in light of future weather patterns, I think we need to start considering 'Hazard' days where schools cancel due to hazardous weather, or at the very least have better equipment for drivers and students when facing those conditions.

We were not offered masks, nor any recommendations for handling the air quality. Can you provide examples in your own company that you DO have this already figured out, and what the dialogue is essentially?

If you have had THC, and how did it affect your dreaming?

I've only really indulged on occasion (I'd say once every other month); but after the recent bout I noticed the days after I have INTENSE nightmares that I've never had before. It's always short but horrifying. The last three days include:

-A family of 'giants' holding smaller humans, being 'friends' with them, before throwing two into a blender, and the remaining into a deep fryer. They are still cooing, delighted and laughing as the screams of pain and fear start from the smaller humans.

-A tarantula climbs on me, it's friendly and not bad. I need to get work done, but it's clingy. So I make it a nice tank with leaves and add some crickets for it to eat. I set the spider in there, and the crickets turn around and start ripping it apart, destroying it in pieces. It tries to hide under the leaves, trying to climb out, looking at me for help, but there's nothing I can do and I just have to watch this random spider suffer after I tried to help it when it was nothing but sweet.

-A bunch of kids in costumes playing tag in a hotel lobby. There are actual dinosaurs there- small T-Rex and Velociraptors, but they're slow. Kids are shrieking and gleefully dodging around the predators trying to eat them, which are growing more frustrated. Then the dinos start to get faster, and I woke up right as the doors closed on the kids (who realized the game is no longer fun because the danger can catch them) and the dinosaurs reached them.

I've had nightmares before (normally in the form of zombies or neglected pets)- in fact I dream multiple times a night, that's never changed, and it doesn't change during a 'high' either. But I'm wondering if the new nightmare fuel is a chemical withdrawal reaction? I only ever take around 10mg, and I know so many people who do more than that, so I don't get it. Normally I can shift into kinder dream spaces, but these are so horrifying to my system that I wake up gasping for breath and desperate to forget what I saw.

I was hoping to see if anyone else had similar experiences, and if they know exactly what causes it.

Found out a catheter insertion was $200.00. I used to do this daily for an elderly man at 15/hr

Just a vexed rant. The catheter was a part of an HSG procedure (which went fine- great- paying hundreds to be told I have an average human body with no issues). But it just GALLS me that the process I had to do every day when I did in home care APPARENTLY is worth the whooping cost of 200. I barely made 60 a day with that gig, which included a lot more medical and wheelchair assistance.

And what makes me mad is I know a lot of people are still making 15/hr doing that, helping the elderly and the disabled and getting paid dirt for it. But because this was done in a hospital setting, by a man who happens to know a lot, they get to set the cost of that ONE piece on my bill at 200.

I don't know, I'm just fuming and this seemed like the right space to rant about it.

What's the best crisis line for if there is a stranger having a mental health episode?

We have an older gentleman wandering the neighborhood- he appears slightly out of it, and keeps yelling the same angry phrases over and over as if he's in an argument but no one is near him. I don't want to call the police, I'm pretty sure it's a mental episode and he's not doing anything dangerous yet. But the hotlines I'm finding seem to be for self crisis reports?

Update: Orange buttons picked by redditers was a success!

Per overwhelming consensus, the fading brass buttons from this vintage dress were replaced with some glass orange buttons. While I was hesitant at first, it really does bring the whole outfit together in a way that feels absolutely charming. Obligatory additional photos enjoying the new dress. :) thank you everyone!

Wasn't sure if the new flare was the right choice since I only sewed on the buttons, but it was no longer a question so...

Replacing buttons on old dress; which suit it better?

Blues would have to be a mix of dark and light due to numbers, but I feel like that could still be pretty

Edit: orange is clearly the winner haha- thank you all!!

I'm getting worried about two of my girls, even though aside from this they have shown no other health issues. Both are laying fine, both have healthy appetites and regular droppings. They are around 4 years old now, but the last few chickens we had that started going south eventually had keel bones feel a lot more prominently just like they are. The ones that died previously had other signs beforehand- poopy butt, trouble laying, that sort of thing. I just want to know if there's anything I can do- if we go to the vet and it's some kind of cancer, has anybody had a chicken that has survived getting it? :( I know they don't have the longest life, but I would really rather not lose them any sooner than I have to.
