Bought our 2011 in early 2016 with 37k miles. My wife has a computer job and works from home and I have had company vehicles for most of my adult life is the reason for such low miles.

We only see each other a few times a year because we live multiple states away. We went camping and she showed up with this.

Kidding. Just went for a drive, the first time my 21yo daughter’s been in it. Happy Friday!

After a lot of timing issues, I finally got it to fire after a great video from Salter Racing Engines. The first issue was a wire connection- easy fix. Next was my timing was out 180 degrees. Got that fixed and still nothing. After some messing around I could get it to fire for a second or two but would shoot a fireball out of the carb. Watched multiple videos but the Salter was the best. Rechecked to make sure TDC was right with the valve cover off, put on a timing tape and set to 35 degrees btdc, adjusted the distributor and it fired up right away. Now to get a timing light on it and tune the carburetor and next I’ll be working on getting it driving.

Our picks between my wife and I. I’m a fan of compilations for the variety, and we will usually scoop up a couple random cheap records to see what they are about, which was my B.T. Express (I also bought it because I like the old green Burlington Northern trains.)

Thankfully my neighbor opened the shipper and brought it over. I usually don’t open the shippers but I’d rather have that than nothing at all!

How urgent is replacing the engine mount when it’s giving this much play? I just got the control arms replaced with an alignment and it was about $1400 so I don’t have the money to dish out for another large repair but will have to figure out something if it needs immediate attention

Just a quick starter bump to make sure it engages and is rewired correctly before I put the header back on. I don’t want to take it off again. I’m getting excited now!

I’m trying to take the engine out of my big rat to do a rebuild, but I genuinely cannot get the bolts off the engine mount. I’ve tried PB blaster and everything.

Getting closer and closer. My neighbor is an old racer and gear head and had an almost new generic Carter carb laying around he sold me for a great deal today. I am unsure about the matte black air cleaner, wondering if I should go chrome to keep with the theme here. I don’t hate it just unsure.

I’m a fan of car-themed records and found this today.

It’s pretty hard to capture, but got a US stainless platter from 1936 today. I’m always looking for silver, but couldn’t pass this up. The 1936 is directly to the left of the flash. I’m an army vet, and I remember seeing kitchen equipment from the 40’s and 50’s and I always thought it was interesting how long it had lasted.

You may have seen the intake post from before, here’s a small update. I still have a long way to go but am getting there. I ordered a new power steering pump but it got delivered to the wrong house and marked as delivered so I will order a new one next week. The original was siliconed and leaked all over like every other fluid. I’m trying to keep this similar to how it was, which is why so much chrome. Alternator only mocked up, will order chrome hardware.
