I don’t recognize this country anymore .

Hey guys.

I’m a Somali-Canadian. My family immigrated to Canada in 1997. The Chrétien era. I was 3 when I arrived in Canada. I’m 32 now. I’ve been here my whole life.

I don’t recognize this country anymore. There’s just too much immigrants. How are you guys feeling about it? Especially Arabs, South Asians, and Africans. Latinos are welcome - wish we had more of them tbh haha 🤪

But yeah. I’m unhappy in this country recently. Too many new immigrants. Canada used to be such a white country. I miss those days 😭Thats why I’m so nostalgic for Canada 2000-2014. lol

As a Somali , I prefer to live in white neighbourhoods and go to white majority malls. I’m sick & tired of going to the mall and seeing only Arabs, south Asians and African people

I genuinely really miss seeing white people in Canada lol 😭

T-L208 Somalis are descended from the Sahabas?

So T-L208 originates from Saudi man over a thousand years ago coinciding with the spread of Islam. The sample even shows Saudis in the Makkah region! I think it’s extremely likely T-L208 originates from one of the Sahabas spreading Islam to the Somalis.

Look at the husband and wife especially…they don’t look Arab! They are Arameans! Imagine them wearing the khaleeji attire! They’d stick out like sore thumb!

You Shamis will never be Arab 😂😂

I feel so bad for Shias.

I went to a Shia majdid during their jummah just to see what it was like. And bro. There was no diversity. Just Iranians, Iraqis, Lebanese, and some south Asians. I actually cried wallah. Like the beauty of Islam was absent. The diversity was not there.

Imagine going to your Jummah prayer, not seeing your Somali brother, a Moroccan brother, an Indonesian brother, a Sudani brother, a Malaysian brother, a Bengali brother, a Ethiopian brother, Palestinian brother, a Senegalese brother , Algerian brother etc. it made me sooo sad for them and thankful to be a Sunni wallah.

Theres so much racism in the Shia ummah. Do you know they wear black turbans to signify those who are genetically related to the Prophet (SAW). Islam forbade that kinda mentality. It’s not your blood ties that brings you closer to The Prophet. It’s your Iman. Your deeds. How you follow his Sunnah. This kinda mentality stews racism. They used to not allow Africans and south Asians Shias to wear black turbans.

May Allah SWT. Help Shias.

2005 was such a magical year. I think about that year frim time to time.

Who else remembers 2005? Ugh. It was such a great year. It felt so different from the earlier 2000’s and it also felt different from the later 2000’s.
It was such nice year. Khakis were in. Preppy style was huge. The Gap was massive. I’d run home everyday from school to watch Oprah at 4.

Chronicles of Narnia. Desperate Housewives was the biggest show on TV.

2005 felt like such was a floral calm peaceful year in comparison to 2004 or 2006.🌷💐💕

Why do Jordanians think white people are more beautiful than them?

So I was watching a YouTube video of a white travel vlogger. He was asking Jordanians which people do they find the most beautiful. And they all answered European nations- like Russia , Denmark, England, Sweden, etc. And the reason they gave was their “white skin” , “blonde hair” “blue eyes”.

I was taken aback by this. Because I had no idea that Jordanians view Europeans as more beautiful than them. What’s your experience with this?

Why do Shias Arabs tend to be more racist than sunnis Arab?

Has anyone else noticed this? Shia Lebanese are notorious for being very racist. Iraqi Shias are also quite racist. I’ve seen so much racism from Shia Arabs compared to Sunni Arabs.

My guess is the lack of racial diversity in the Shia ummah compared to the Sunni ummah.

Shia majdids don’t have Somalis, Sudanis, Bengalis, Pakistanis, Malaysians, Indonesians, Ethiopians,Senegalese, etc. it’s just them. Arabs and Iranians

Somali here. I have questions for you Jordanians.

How would you describe the relationship today between East Bank Jordanians and Jordanians of Palestinian origin? Is there a divide? Tension?

Do you think younger Jordanians see these identities differently than older generations? If so, how?

Are there differences in political influence,
government jobs, or economic opportunities between the two groups? How do people in Jordan view those differences?

How common is marriage between East Bank Jordanians and Jordanians of Palestinian origin? Is it generally accepted by families?

Do conversations about identity and Palestinian heritage still create tension, or have those issues become less important over time?

White Canadians & Dogs. A thesis. Would like your help!

Hello,

I’m an undergraduate student doing a thesis paper on the correlation between the individualist culture of white Canadians and their deep emotional attachment to their dogs, in comparison to people of colour who tend to be more collective/community based.

I have these questions for White Canadians:

  1. Do you live alone?
  2. Are you close to your family and cousins?
  3. How often do you spend time with your family and cousins?
  4. Do your family or cousins play a role in your life?
  5. Would you care for an aging parent yourself, or would you consider assisted living if needed?
  6. How often do you feel lonely?
  7. Is your dog equally as important as your immediate family and cousins?

Thank you so much!

I saw this beautiful video of a Lebanese town…and it made me so depressed. Why can’t Somalis have a city this beautiful and civilized?

We have the longest coastline line in Africa and not one city in Somalia comes any where near as beautiful as this Lebanese town. It makes me so depressed. I’d kill to have a city in Somalia to resemble this!

Are T-L208 Somalis descended from the Sahaba?

So all T-L208 samples originate from a Saudi men from Mecca specifically about 1,000 years ago. This coincides with the spread of Islam. Is it plausible that the paternal ancestors of the Isaaq was one of the Sahaba?

Ya Zols…what do y’all even eat!?

So im Somali and I just realized it…I don’t even know what Sudani food is. I can’t even picture it. I know what the Habeshis eat, what the Maghrebis eat, what the Egyptians eat, the Shamis eat, what the Yemenis and khaleejis eat, what the West Africans eat…but what do Sudanis eat??

I’ve never seen or even a heard of a Sudani restaurant in my entire life in the West. No one ever discusses Sudani cuisine. I don’t see it on TikTok ever. To the point I can’t even picture any Sudani dishes in my head.

The only thing I know is that peanut butter and tomato salad, the Sudani version of falafel , and gurasa…but thats it. No meat dishes I can think of, no rice dishes or stews…what do y’all eat? And why is Sudani food so spoken little of?

Is rice and pasta a big part of Sudani cuisine like it is in Somali cuisine?

Why do Somalis, on average, have the most Caucasian like features in the Horn?

While other Horners, like the habesha, have very Semitic Yemeni-like features , Somalis have very Caucasian like features. I know Caucasian is the wrong word, but I don’t know how else to describe it lol.

I’ve met a lot of Somalis that have this black painted white look. Small noses, very delicate features. Kinda Nordic like? The other day this Somali guy went viral on TikTok and people in the comments were saying he looks like a white boy painted black. lol. But why is this? Their main ancestral components is Ancient Nilotic, Natufian, and some Iberomaurusian (ancient North African ).

What gives Somalis their small noses and soft “European” (for lack of a better term) like features. It’s not their Natufian because Arabs are known for having bigger noses and strong features. Perhaps it’s the Proto-Nilotic ancestors?

If Somalis are 40-45% Eurasian, why doesn’t it show up in our features like it does for Dominicans?

Peoole always say how Somalis are 40-45 percent Eurasian, but I feel like it doesnt show up in our features? Most Somalis are very dark, we just have slimmer noses and looser hair texture. Most people wouldnt be able to tell the difference between Somalis and Black Americans and Jamaicans for example.

But Dominicans look so visibly mixed. Why does the Somali phenotype looks so “Black” despite being 4o-45% Eurasian?
