Online mic drop

So your having a 'spirited disagreement' with someone on here or similar and they just aren't listening, getting your point to the point you cant tell if their trolling or just stupid...

Whats a good line to hit them with to drop out of the convo...

I usually go with the tried and tested... "We'll I'd love to stay and continue this battle of wits but it wouldn't fair as you're clearly unarmed".

But I'd like a wider repertoire than just this!

Affect of changes in Circumstances

Hi, my partner is claiming UC and is coming up with some changes to her circumstances and she was wondering how it will likely affect her, I've never had UC so I don't have any experience to draw on.

She works about 25 hours per week.

We don't live together.

X2 sons, eldest is 21 and at Uni and the younger is 17 (18 end of June) and is likely going to Uni in September, he also wished to stay living at home when he does, the elder son lives in a flat in his university city. The kids father lives in another country and does not contribute.

She receives help with her rent and some financial support.

Her main concern is that when her younger son turns 18 she will loose most if not all support, especially the rent support.

Does anyone know how much support she is likely to loose, will she still get something towards her son if he is in full time education if he is still living at home?

I'm now concerned following a thought which arose after a friend was talking to me.

If we had evolved without eyes, we would be unaware of light / sight as a perception.

If we had evolved without ears, the same for sound / hearing as a perception..

No nose... not ability to detect gases & fumes, not realising gases etc have a way in which we can experience or percive them beyond air blowing on our skin for example.

Tongue & taste etc.... you get the idea....

So what other things is the universe holding us back from experiencing because we never evolved to detect / experience it beyond the senses we have which we just take for granted allow us to experience the 3D world around us in its entirety????

I just watched Sharpe's Justice after a very long time.

It was mentioned at one point that Parfitt had managed to buy himself a yeomanry.

How did that work in those days? Where the rich able to pay for/sponsor units of the army to act in their service?

The other thing was with Sharpe being sent to command them, how come he was still in his rifleman's uniform (along with Harper) and not the uniform of his new unit?

Just wondering does anyone else have tiny little bits that just make you laugh so hard, but they are "blink and you miss it".

I was re-watching the episode where Dina's birds escape... (I'm not saying they were let out... I ain't no snitch).

As the birds fly around the store and then start to make their way to the main door, there is a quick shot of Sandra looking completely lost, and just slowly raises her arms to the side as though that was going to block the birds escape, the hopelessness of the attempt with the blank look on Sandra's face as she tries just cracks me up!

Since the creation of autopilot decades ago, pilots have felt their jobs under threat, so every now and again they just give the controls quick shake to give them another reason to come on the intercom and remind the passengers they're there and that it seems they are required to take action so they seem more in control and indispensable than they really are.

Hey all,

Along with recently loving diving back into the series after so many years, I had remembered the brilliant voice of John Tamms. I love that “Hagman” really did voice the songs.

To that end I found this brilliant version arranged by John on YouTube.

Does anyone know where I can get it properly. YouTube is the only place I’ve found so far.

Thanks.

I'm rewatching for the first time in many years.

In Sharpes Eagle, there is a promise made about capturing an Eagle (trying to be vague to avoid spoilers as much as possible).

So when talking to Wellington and being rewarded, Wellington tells him this better not have happened and it would cost him his rank....

What at this point was the issue with him hinting at taking the eagle?

Was it seen as ungentlemanly? Not right or something?
