To comment/post in r/YYC, you'll need to be added to the approved users list.

u/automod will instantly remove comments from any accounts that aren't added to the list. Bit of a pain in the ass, but, this sub is an experiment, so we'll see how it goes.

Rather than have a subreddit that is open to any random account that decides to drop by, we're doing things a little differently. Accounts will need to be pre-screened first. We'll take a quick look at your comment history and post history. We're looking for accounts that troll, spread hate, racism, spam or otherwise try to make other people miserable.

This will make things a little more difficult for people that want to use a throwaway account, but you can always message the mods from your normal account to give a heads up. That sort of defeats the purpose of using a throwaway but it's the only compromise we can make.

If you're someone that prefers to hide your account history, that's cool, totally understand, but it'll make things hard to check that you aren't a troll account. If you can open up your history until we've added you, that would be helpful.

Thanks

State of Local Emergency in Kananaskis Country

Kananaskis Improvement District and Kananaskis Country have issued a State of Local Emergency due to ongoing rainfall and localized flooding affecting road access and several recreation areas.

Some road access remains limited in parts of Kananaskis Country. We are actively working to establish road access for those currently unable to leave the area. Visitors in the area are asked to remain where they are if it is safe to do so. William Watson Lodge and Peter Lougheed Discovery Centre are available as a temporary shelter for those who require a safe, dry place to stay.

Visitors are encouraged to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve. Impacted reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded.

Emergency teams continue to coordinate response efforts and are monitoring infrastructure, supporting campground operations, and maintaining road closures where needed.

Updates will be provided as available on this webpage:
