reselling sweetwater?

I just got a bass drum head from a high volume (127K transaction history) on reverb, it showed up in a sweetwater box with the candy and everything. Is drop shipping from sweetwater a thing now? Im not sure why I am annoyed by it, at least I wont have to get a cold call next week from the sales rep to ask me how the bass drum head is

prenup that works in both the US and EU?

Is there an easy way to do a prenup that would be applicable in both the united states (Colorado law) and European Union (France?) There is not a significant amount of assets or children involved at this time...

elk hide drum throne

I have a couple commercially tanned elk hides from animals I have harvested.
I also have a roc-n-soc drum set "saddle" throne, that is well constructed but ugly and i rather just have the round top and am thinking it would be cool if it was using my elk leather.
I have my 12" plywood disc cut and have the mounting hardware attached and will work with a local upholstery person to get the right high-quality cushion. But I am thinking of doing my own leather work, or at least knowing enough about how it would work that if he (or someone else) does it it has the best chance of holding up.
What should I know before tackling this or finding someone else to do it?
The elk leather is very pliable, strong, and comfortable. But I have heard it needs to be backed for things that get a lot of use. what is the best option for that for something that will stay breathable?
Should I maybe be looking at a stiffer leather for the gusset? Im thinking my finished stool will be 12" diameter and 3" tall, with some really high compression foam on the bottom and either memory foam or a gel layer (or both) on the top.
And for the joint where the top cap meets the gusset, can I just do a saddle stitch? Aesthetically I would prefer it not to have piping or anything but I do not know if that fills a structural need.

thanks!!

why does reverb allow someone to accept offers without paying immediately

I have had two in the last week, where buyer accepts an offer but then doesn't pay and then it times out. is there a setting I can change, so buyers have to pay when accepting offers?

Where is a good place to engage freelance audio engineers for mixing assistance?

I know that soliciting work or offering jobs is not allowed on this channel, is there a place on reddit or else where to meet folks looking for small mixing and mastering jobs? fiver? FB group?

product suggestions for elk-hide drum throne build

I am looking at building a new seat for my drum throne (stool at a drum set). I might have a local person do it but I want to make sure I am well informed about what the options are for padding.
I have a 3/4 hardwood plywood 12" diameter circle to start with. I want to cover that with some sort of hard-to-compress foam, and then have a gel layer or a memory foam layer, and then elk leather.

I have a couple questions...
What is the highest quality foam I can get for the base layer? What sort of shop might have some cutoffs, as I am only doing 12" circle
Is it redundant to put both 1" memory foam and a gel layer?
Does the gel layer have to be something that is made that size and shape or is there a product I can cut into a 12" circle?

best option today for portable computer-less capture of S-video straight from a vintage camcorder

I have a handful of 40-10 year old analog, MiniDV, and high 8 camcorders. I have been recording and then transferring to PC via the elgato. Im sick of tapes and flaky tape play/rewind/ motors.

What I want to do is stream real time via s-video (when available) or composite/RCA when it isnt to some sort of portable SD or USB drive recorder.

Curious if I will get better quality then I do with the elgato? Obviously there is not the fidelity loss of going to tape and back.

And whats the best hardware option? the products mentioned on the sticky thread (cloner alliance, clearclick) dont seem to do S-Video. The digitpro stuff looks promising but I have not talked to anyone that has actually used it.

Looking to capture video from old camcorders without messing around with tape. Digitpro?

I have a few garage sale camcorders that have a great vintage "CCD Sensor" vibe picture but the mess of flaky tapes and then the underwhealming elgato video capture device back to the laptop have been frustrating.
Im thinking I rather just capture real time from the camcorder to a computer-less capture device. Curious if folks can give real world experiences with the digitpro "VHS to digital" 2.0 (cheap) or 3.0 (bulkier but has batteries)? Especially compared to elgato? Anything else like that out there I am not seeing?

Also I am assuming I should use S-video instead of the composite RCA? unless I want a little more analog style distortion?

My apologies if this is an existing thread that I did not see...

Looking for upgrade first gen QSC K10s

I have loved these speakers, im guessing I have 300 gigs with them over 15 years. Absolute workhorse equipment. They live in a non climate controlled shed in western colorado (sometimes 50 degree temp shift in a day) or in the back of my car.
I am using them for smaller indoor pub / small dance rooms, mostly acoustic jazz, bluegrass, occasionally some honky tonk. For festival or theater gigs there is always sound there.

My one complaint is that I would like something that has a better horizontal dispersement. They tend to be fairly directional with a big volume difference depending on how squared up you are.

Curious if there is something else out there with a similar or better build quality that would have better spread. the K8.2 do on paper, and I think they would be loud enough, but the whole LCD screen and DSP thing kind of wigs me out. Its hard for me to see those still being around in 15 years. and I have heard antidotally that they are not as well built as the old ones.

I have used a couple consumer grade line array (bose / LD Maui / EV) solutions, decent spread but not much projection and they feel cheap. I feel like every time I plug the tower in im a little surprised it still works (and that is about 30 gigs). I have also seen some newer EV / alto / mackie powered speakers in the last couple years that I would not bother loading in the car.

I should add that I have not come close to maxing out the headroom on the K10s, and I will use a folded horn sub if I need to put bass or bass drum in the mix (rare) so I do not need bigger drivers.

And I want to stay at 35lbs or less. and hopefully at or under $1K per speaker (inflation adjusted price of the k10s), although I would compromise on price before quality.

Thanks!!

medium short mic stands with fixed boom and weighted base?

After the last couple gigs Im done with telescoping booms. Just one more thing to go wrong, one more screw to get lost, one more thing to adjust, etc.
In addition to amps and bass drums I need something that gets tall enough I can use it with a SDC to pick up my mandolin and accordion when I am sitting or fit in tight to get a snare drum.

Curious if folks could point me at a shorty stand thats not too short and is well made with a weighted base vs a tripod. The rok it amp / bass stand looks good on paper but I am not sure if the over all build quality is the same as other gator stands (which I found satisfactory) . I think it is gator's budget line but I am not sure what that actually means as far as differences in the build.

experienced musician new to fiddle, what should I practice?

I had someone show me the basics of bow technique and holding the instrument.
I am an experienced guitar / mandolin / upright bass / chromatic accordion / etc player but new to the fiddle. I have a good understanding of the fingerboard from mandolin. I want to be able to play out in a year or so.

Goal is to practice for 10 minutes a day until I get past the screechies.
what should I work on? scales? Just saw on some diatonic melodies that I know that are in first position?

Comfortable retro throne recomendations

I have been using a roc n soc with the tractor seat. It is comfortable but the set screw on the collar is always falling out. and its heavy and gives guitar center circa 2015 vibes. I also use it for sitted guitar / accordion gigs and it is not really what I want on stage.

Curious if someone has a brand they would recommend? Id love to have a leather seat and could potentially get something upholstered with some leather I have. Feel free to DM me if there is something you have that you would want to get rid of if that is allowed

2026 Tiguan SE and mountains

I have had one of these for a week. Took it over a mountain pass last night. Maybe I am missing something, but I could not figure out any way to use gears to control my speed on the decent. The SE does not have paddle shifters. I could put into Sport mode, which is far as I can tell just changes the shift points around. It will not hold in 2nd gear.
I tried that adaptive cruise control, which controlled my speed, but when I got out the brakes where so hot I could feel the heat when I walked by. I think it was just riding the brakes the whole way down???
This is what I consider a table stakes feature of every automobile from the last 80 years. Maybe I am just not smart enough to figure it out?

recommendations for cardioid vocal mic

I have tried a few super cardiods, and really like the beta 58, e945, and miktek pm9.
But when I am playing my accordion and singing I end up having to look at my fingers more and the tight polar pattern means I get some drop out. There is not a way I can position the mic so looking down and looking out it has the same gain.
Thinking of going back to a looser pattern but e835 and (especially) SM58s sound muddy after these. Is there a mic with a more forgiving polar pattern that still gives the clarity and articulation of the other ones I like? Needs to be rugged (im hard on things)

Next step down from a wetsuit for open water swimming warmth

Newer swimmer, been doing some medium distance (750-2000 yard) open water swims in reservoirs in western Colorado with a couple other folks.
I have a sleeveless knee-length wetsuit that is fairly constrictive and tends to catch water in the 'bib' but does keep me warm. It is also a pain to get in and out of.
Curious if I would get similar or even slightly less level of warmth and a lot less hassle if I had a good swim vest and a hood? Or it seems like there are some hooded vests but maybe more for divers? when I look up swim vests I see a lot of PFDs

2017 VW TSI- leaking oil drain on factory plastic pan

Dealership wants to charge a thousand dollars to put in a new plastic one, Said they also had to do the PVC valve and oil separator at the same time?

tension rod diamters for tamastage star bass lugs. 7/32? 6m?

I ordered some lugs for a skinny bass drum I am putting together, and I need to get some tension rods ordered as well.
They are single ended lugs are from a tama "stagestar", the seller said they are standard sized tension rods. Yet it seems like there are two standards that are widely used, 7/32 and 6m. Are those interchangeable? By my math it is less then .5mm difference, maybe it does not matter?
