First time cat owners. We recently rescued a 1 year old spayed kitty and she's soooo sweet. However, she spends most of the overnight hours stalking and attacking my toes. Just me, and just my toes. It is painful and frequent and it startles and hurts me and I haven't had a good night's sleep in weeks. She has lots of scratching posts and toys at her disposal. Anything I can do?
Lowered on coilovers (not slammed). Do not want to roll fenders and hoping to avoid spacers. Looking for 17" track wheels, square setup. Probably RPF1, maybe Kojin. Options are:
17x8+35
17x8+45
17x8.5+30
17x9+35
17x9+45
I'm thinking 17x8+35 is a good fitment? Thoughts?
I'm struggling conceptually with this. I have two older cars that are only not daily drivers. They are both relatively sought-after enthusiast cars but they are not worth much (probably $5-10k).
I imagine that at this point any modest amount of damage would cause the insurance company to declare the car a total loss just based on value. I'm not sure what a typical buyback price would be, but presumably this deal ends up close to net zero cost if I repair it out of the proceeds and I have a salvage title car.
The alternative would be to not file a claim, pay out of pocket, and keep the clean title, right?
In which case, the only time I would file a claim would be a catastrophic accident where the car is not repairable or not worth repairing?
02 with factory manual and LSD, 130K miles, clean title no accidents, 3 owners zero mods, West Coast car zero rust. Paints in good "driver quality" condition with some scrapes and rock chips. Interior seats are in excellent condition. Needs timing belt and other preventative maintenance, has sticky dash, needs AC compressor (praying it's not the evaporator). $8.5k.
For a min I thought I overpaid, but I'm looking on classic.com and now I'm sorta thinking I got a great deal.
I've recently bought a couple of 20 year old "nostalgia" cars and I'm well on my way to spending more on preventative maintenance and mods than the car itself. Think $5k car plus $2k timing belt and associated bits and $3k in suspension work... And that's just getting started
On the one hand, it feels financially irresponsible (I shudder to think what would happen if one were to get wrecked). On the other hand, it's still cheaper than a low end newer car and I really enjoy them.
Anyone else?
Edit: this post is very validating. Please keep em coming
I'm not sure how to think about the math on collision insurance given the low book value on these cars.
Looking for a "retro" style BT head unit that somewhat matches the original interior. Hoping someone has a picture with any of the Blaupunkts so I can see what it looks like. TIA!
I know they are NLA, are they desirable/sought after?
Edit: sunshine= someone (damn autocorrect)
958.2. Window switch broke (snapped off, which I understand is a common problem) and the window immediately began acting like this. I replaced the switch with a new OE switch from Pelican, but the window still won't go up. This has got to be done kind of safety stop, right? Is there something I can reset? Disconnect the battery?
My new to me '02 only came with one key and it is the basic type key with no lock/unlock buttons. Was the remote lock/unlock standard or optional? Can I buy a remote key and program it?
Hello, I'm interested in a cat-back or axle-back for my new-to-me IS300. I don't really like the angled look or the fart-cannon look, and so I'm looking for something with a 4" straight-out tip. I think the Tanabe Medallion fits the bill. Any others to consider?
I'm interested in purchasing my first rotary car but I want to be sure I have options to replace the apex seals if/when that time comes. I'm close to Atkins Rotary but I believe they are parts only? Any input appreciated.
I'm not finding any US vendors selling these springs, but a few UK ones seem to. Are they discontinued?
I have JCW Red springs and the car sits a little high for my liking, also I need more camber up front, tires are getting destroyed at the track. I was about to pull the trigger on camber plates, but thinking I may just go coilovers. This car will see a fair amount of track time. Suggestions? Here's how she sits now and my chunked up tires.
Just received these fixed camber plates for my Mini Cooper from a reputable vendor from whom I have several other high quality parts. These were not blems or on sale - they are equivalent in price to competitors' products. I can't imagine these terrible cuts affecting functionality in any way, but am I crazy to expect higher quality?
I have the DDM intake with the pleated filter. It sounds amazing at WOT, but at part throttle there is a highly annoying whistle from the intake (in addition to the whoosh, for lack of a better term, that is present through the rev range).
Does anyone have experience with an option that has more supercharger whine than stock, but doesn't whistle at part throttle? Or are those things inevitably linked?

R53 Mini Cooper, FWD with LSD. First pic is the passenger front tire with significant...chunking? The other 3 tires look like the second pic (which is the driver side front tire). These are cheap Kenda 300tw UHP with only 3 track sessions at Ridge MP. Is this a tire pressure issue or something else?
I'm considering buying 2 replacement tires for the front for now. I'll probably upgrade to a better tire down the road.
I plan to do a few track days (HPDE, unlikely to do AuoX) per year with my new-to-me R53 and I'm looking to potentially get an upgraded rear sway bar and front camber plates. Goals: dial out understeer and increase front grip/reduce uneven tire wear.
This is still primarily a street car so I don't want to get extreme. The car has the JCW sport suspension (red springs) with KYB struts and I have no plans for coilovers or any super-adjustable suspension bits. Trying to keep it simple and fun, not looking to be competitive.
RSB: debating between (a) 19mm solid or (b) 22mm solid/25mm hollow. Opinions?
Not planning adjustable endlinks, but is there a heavy duty OEM+ option?
Looking at the IE fixed front camber plates; any other options to consider?
