Best prep platform? (STC, Knopman, Kaplan)

Hey all, I am currently associating with a firm and have received access to stc to study. I additionally have used knopman/kaplan.

Here’s a breakdown of what i

Knopman - I’m about 70% through knopmans book while also using their quiz bank and videos/lectures.

Kaplan - completely read twice and used up a ton of their question bank

STC - Just got access to today through firm

I’ve taken the exam twice and scored a 61 and 69. I really need to pass this exam and would like to know how to best take advantage of the materials at my disposal. My test date is next week so I need to maximize my time and energy to get this done. Any recommendations???

I’m right there and know I can do this! Let me know what you guys think!

Trying to redeem myself

Just gotta be honest with myself here, definitely let myself go. I ended up staying up too late and sexting a couple times this week. Havent done it in years. Felt overwhelmed by work and stress and ended up choosing the wrong path.

Can anyone help me at the very least cope and find the path back to peace? This isn’t who I am and I don’t like the way I been talking about myself sexually.

I’ve been able to stop doing this sorta thing for months at a time but I gotta look at myself in the mirror and recognize it’s time to reset and let go of this sort of feeling and work on me.

How do I convince someone to get Halo in 2026?

I’m looking to get one of my buddies to play Halo MCC. I’m not sure what exactly would cause my friends to play - they mainly play basic games like fifa/madden or call of duty/rainbow/overwatch. I think most of them have a general understanding of halo’s reputation, but don’t know truly how good these games are. I really want to get them on co-op campaign for halo 1/2/3 (or reach), to show them what they been missing out on.

We all were born post 2000 and as a result missed out on the halo 2/3 craze. I personally didnt start until shortly after 4 released. I think given the time period we’re in it’s a lot harder to sell someone in their early 20’s on Halo (especially with how modern shooters are setup)

Does Anyone have any short YouTube videos or links I could share? Maybe some possible words of advice I could use to persuade my friends to play?

Exam Retake Next Week

Hey all, failed my first attempt about a month ago, scoring a 61. I felt mentally checked out and definitely not fully prepared. I had mostly scored low 70’s-low 60s on practice exams, and definitely rushed through the last couple chapters of kaplans book. I took the Finra practice exam once before, while also watching videos by ken, guru, and passmasters. Despite all that prep, I could kinda tell heading into the exam I wasn’t going to pass, and that I was overwhelmed.

My studying this time around has mostly felt more comfortable. I’ve scored 80+ a couple times on practice exams. Additionally feeling pretty good about most topics - incorrect questions just feel like dumb mistakes or just misreading what is being asked now.

I want to be extra prepared this time around, in order to feel confident walking in, while also feeling good about myself a couple days before the exam. Any advice or possibly good material to go over?

Social Media Detox: How to Fill my Time

I gotta get real with myself and finally let go. I’ve been trying to get the idea of leaving social media for a while now - best I’ve done is delete this app and tiktok. The main app that’s been problematic is instagram, as I’m connected with the most people on there.

I’m unemployed for the next month or so and fear boredom during this time especially if I follow through with getting off social media. Any suggestions of hobbies to fill out my day? Here’s some things I do that I think could help

- Workout
- Play basketball
- podcasts
- journal morning and night
- read
- videogames (in moderation)
- listen to music
- draw

Some of these things I feel I’ve either lost the passion for or need to stray more from social media to be more involved with them. Please, for anyone that has experienced this, let me know any advice or suggestions. I want to be the best man for myself and those around me and I think it starts with changing my habits right now!

SIE retake

Hey all, i originally took the sie a few weeks ago and unfortunately failed with a 61%. I definitely felt some questions were easy and didn’t take much effort, while some were big struggles. Ultimately, the biggest issue I feel was where I was at mentally. I was completely worn out and stressed that I would lose my job offer with MS. Fortunately, I kept my offers and have another opportunity.

I had barely finished reading Kaplans book a few days before the exam, and spammed probably 15 total exams within 5 days. I was pretty stressed and felt my brain was all over the place (plus my diet and sleep tanked). Now, I feel much more comfortable with most of the material and am scoring in the 80s on most chapters.

I want to be extremely sure I’m ready and feel confident heading into my second attempt. I have been watching ken/guru videos to review each chapter and feel their supplemental material is going a long way for me.

Could anyone reccomend how I should approach the next couole weeks (test is 7/24)? I believe I can do this, just want to be sure I’m handling this right to avoid a similar result.

How do I escape male loneliness?

Hey guys, sitting alone in my house and realized to myself, I feel pretty lonely in a romantic sense. I have two groups of guys I consistently hang out with and keep up with all the time. I have a solid family that all get along well (although my two older brothers definitely don’t talk with me much). I am a Christian (although looking to get more into my faith).

I’m 22, feel I’m a good looking guy (not a model or anything but definitely take care of myself and my body) and have a job lined up (just recently graduated) for august. Despite all of these great opportunities and things going for me in life, I often get depressed over my lack of female attention and very little relationship experience. I’ve been on a few dates and been in a couple “situationships” but never anything legit.

I golf play basketball, bowl and am as a whole active. I workout or do some form of cardio everyday, often these activities are with others as well. I feel generally pretty comfortable in social settings, including going out with friends. I’ve developed a decent bit of confidence as well, but it definitely goes down when I go a long time without being with a girl (or pursuing a relationship with one). It’s been almost 2 years since I had anything even close to a relationship and idk I’ve just been feeling numb. I’m still on stupid dating apps that have led to very little meaningful interactions.

All of this to say, I just am craving or otherwise miss girls who are interested in me. No matter how great of a day or moment I might be experiencing, there is always a feeling of something missing. I constantly want to go to the bar just to even have an opportunity to go talk to girls. I feel as though I’ve got a lot going for me, yet see guys all over my life who are putting in less effort, act like douches, or otherwise don’t seem worthy of having gfs, while I’m still not getting any sort of recognition or female attention.

Could anyone either
A. Help me cope with this and provide me ways to get over this feeling?
Or
B. Share how I can put myself out there and be recognized?

First ever tournament…

Hey all, competing in my first official tournament this weekend (likely to consist of 100-200 players) at TooManyGames in Oaks PA. I’d consider myself a pretty good smash player among my friends and even in online play. I’m not necessarily the best when it comes to fighting higher tier characters (sonic, steve etc), but can definitely hold my own otherwise. I’m in elite with yoshi and overall have about 1.2k hours on the game.

My tournament looks like it’ll be a pool format to start (not entirely sure how it works, seeing as rn they only have two pools listed). I feel as though I can grab a couple wins in pools, would be great if I actually made it into bracket.

Any reccomendations on how to go about the event? Maybe some procedure I should know in advance do I don’t make any stupid mistakes?

First Date Ideas?

Hey all, I live about an hour away from York so really dk the area… but I got a first date there next week and want to make plans for a great night. I’m 22 and my date is 23 so I’d like ideas for night life, or something kinda fun for dinner.

Keep in mind it’s a first date, so I want to do something that is easy for us to talk over - maybe a restaurant that is in a walkable area as well would be great.

I see the bowling alley in east york, and the arcade in the main area. Open to both of those ideas but want to make sure I got a good dinner spot for us too potentially lmk what you think! Would appreciate any suggestions!

Why am I suddenly getting likes on Hinge?

For context, 22M, feel like im decent looking, and am magically averaging a match or like per day on my profile. I’ve had hinge since i was 19 in college, and never ever got this type of numbers. I’ll admit, I was pretty skinny/out of shape back then but it’s not like I look thattttt much different now (although I have put on 20ish pounds since). I was going to school in Philly, but live in a suburb otherwise. Regardless, even when traveling, I wouldn’t get many matches or likes

I have two theories as to why I now am getting a bunch of likes

  1. I changed my location to a new city I am moving to, while having a higher map radius

Or

  1. I got a new phone, and on my previous phone I was “shadowbanned” due to constantly deleting and reinstalling the app.

Do either of these reasons make any sense? Maybe something else? Lmk what u all think!

Ken’s practice exam is cooking me

I’m about 30 questions in and hovering around 50% correct. There have been around 3-4 questions where i literally felt like i hadnt heard of terms or concepts.

I felt pretty comfortable so far using Kaplan to study. It’s been a couple months, but really this past month or 3 weeks has been the most locked in I’ve been. I’ve read through 17 out of 19 chapters of kaplan and consistently have taken their generated quizzes and exams. I usually score between 60-80, which to me is fine.

I take the exam next weekend and this feels like a major wake up call. Fortunately, I’ll finish out the kaplan book tomorrow and then have a full week to study and take practice exams.

Is ken’s exams/wording deliberately harder? Or is kaplans too simplified? Idk, just feels really unnatural to be performing this badly given how much time ive put in and how well i had done on previous exams/quizzes

Exam in 10 days… not fully finished reading

Hey all - wanted to ask for advice on how to close out my studying. I officially take my exam on the 20th, and while I feel I can definitely finish strong and pass, I do feel a bit nervous given my pace.

I have gotten about 3/4 or so through kaplans manual, while taking exams/quizzes. I’m doing alright on quizzes and such, but not the best. I have yet to take a true practice exam yet, but would like to starting soon. I feel I can finish things out the way I want to, especially since im not working. Just could use some suggestions on how to do so. I’m hoping to finish looking through the actual concepts friday. How many practice exams with kaplan/finra? And am i on an okay pace?

Please if you are able to provide suggestions on how to approach this homestretch, I’d appreciate it. As I said, I know I can do this, just need to be absolutely sure!

Asking out an old crush

No doubt this scenario has come up before but felt it was worth sharing. I am 22M, looking to ask out a girl (20-21F) who I went to high school with. Ik she goes to college but I’m willing to bet she’s home for summer.

I first met her my junior year of high school during covid, where honestly we barely talked at all. We had a class together and she was super shy (at least that’s the impression I got). Due to the weird covid environment (and myself being chubby and anxious myself at the time), I didn’t ever really approach her or talk.

My senior year I lost a lot of weight and gained a bit of confidence. I was in a weird situationship with a different girl at the time, but still crushed on this one. I graduated and never really caught up with her; all we really did was snapchat each other a bit, and like each others posts on instagram.

I’ve always really wanted to ask her out, felt she was a really nice girl who even if she might be shy I’d be interested in wanting to get to know. I have an idea of what I want to do, which is dm her, just wanted to hear some advice on how to go about it. I feel she’d at least hear me out, but I’d really like to get this opportunity! Could anyone help me out?

Frank Miller/The Dark Knight Returns > Am I missing something?

I’ve tried to read The Dark Knight Returns over the span of 6 months and have been struggling extremely hard. The art style is bleak to me, while rough around the edges. The political commentary feels distracting and like Miller is forcing it down your throat. The mutants, are disturbing (as Miller I’m sure intended), and not very interesting as characters. Oddly enough, the only thing I’ve really liked is Batman himself. He’s definitely gone through the ringer and is mentally unstable but it’s entertaining to see him work through along with accepting Carrie.

I got to the concluding issue and honestly speaking I just don’t feel like reading the rest. I can appreciate that relative to the time period this helped inject a new energy into Batman, as well as comics as a whole. But this is too much. I’ve read maybe 5 other batman comics, but the long Halloween, court of owls, and others have been much better in terms of style and overall story in my opinion

Am I missing something here? I’m a relatively new to comics, and feel that maybe I could appreciate this more if I come back to it later in life. For now, this is an overly edgy and misguided comic series - just my opinion and wanted to spark conversation.

I never saw the issue with Halo 4 Master Chief

Context: Born in 2003, started playing Halo around 2013 with Halo 4. I personally never saw any issues with the design shift of Chiefs armor. I think it looks more dynamic and makes him look more imposing especially with his greater height in cutscenes. It feels like the guy could actually move his body and fight hand to hand. The older design looks like simply armor, which doesn’t lend itself well to fighting in a brawl.

I really don’t care if others disagree bc I know that in general 4’s designs had a poor reception from fans. I will at least say the covenant look way worse and some guns/sandbox elements I’m not a fan of. Anyone agree with me at least on chiefs design?

Sie Scheduling Help

Hey all, I’m a recent college graduate who is currently prepping to take the sie exam. I got pretty lucky and happened to meet someone from MS who then offered me to meet with reps from the company at one of their branches. I’ve been in constant contact with their team since and as far as I know will pretty much be able to join the team as long as I complete the SIE exam

I honestly have been struggling to focus and get my studying done. I can do a couple hours a day but still have only gotten about a 1/3 done. Their team wants me to get my exam done quickly, as they want me on track to take the 66 immediately after. I have a vacation im going on next week, which could get in the way of things. I was told I should schedule ahead to make sure I don’t cause any issues with getting an actual test date.

Given my circumstances I definitely don’t want to schedule too early and be super unprepared for the exam. I’m the type of studier that does best if I do smaller chunks each day instead of procrastinating under pressure. I feel at the latest i could do either of the last 2 weeks of July, but I want to get both my exams done before early/mid august.

Any recommendations? I really want to make sure I’m making the best decisions for myself that will benefit my best case scenario. I’d feel super upset missing out on this opportunity, but want to make sure that I’m approaching this the right way.
