Complete beginner looking for a very simple solo RPG to start with

Hi! I’ve never played a solo TTRPG before, just some D&D, but I’m really curious about trying one.

My biggest concern is getting overwhelmed by rules. I’m looking for something super simple, easy to follow, and preferably designed to guide a beginner through what to actually do. I don’t mind some journaling/improvisation, but I’d prefer not to have to basically invent the entire story from scratch.

Right now I have my eye on Chained Mosaic: Noir, mostly because I’m a sucker for noir stories (detectives, mysteries, shady characters, crime, rainy cities, etc). But I’m not sure if it’s a good choice for someone who has literally never played a solo TTRPG before.

Ideally I’d love something that, works well as a one-shot or short adventure, has very simple rules, gives me enough prompts/structure that I know what to do next, can be played completely solo, is narrative/mystery focused rather than combat heavy.

Noir, detective, supernatural mystery, horror, espionage, or similar themes would be a big plus.

Would Chained Mosaic: Noir be beginner friendly enough, or is there something else you’d recommend playing first?

[HOBBY] Unity Gameplay Programmer for a cozy 2D narrative game

EDIT: WE FOUND OUR NEW PROGRAMMER!!!
(now let's find one more artist)

Heya folks!
We’re rebuilding a small volunteer team after the summer break for Super Secret Soup of Love, a cozy-dark 2D narrative exploration game about a skeleton learning to cook a magical soup for a grieving wizard.

We are deliberately planning a tight, finishable scope of around 1–2 hours of gameplay.

Players explore seasonal biomes, solve ingredient riddles, complete light environmental puzzles and prepare ingredients through small cooking minigames. There is no combat, no fail state and no procedural generation.

Engine: Unity

Platform: PC

Stage: Early pre-production

Current goal: Build a vertical slice containing the castle kitchen, the Spring biome and one complete ingredient-to-cooking gameplay cycle.

Art direction for the game: https://imgur.com/a/0FqduLe

We’re looking for a **Unity gameplay programmer** to join our existing lead programmer.
The lead programmer will own the architecture, divide technical tasks, review code and help with onboarding. You would not be expected to build or architect the game alone.

Potential tasks include:
-Player interactions and ingredient systems
-Puzzle, quest and dialogue logic
-Cooking minigames
-Scene transitions and progression
-UI integration
-Save-state support
-Testing and polish

Tasks will be divided according to experience and interest.

You may be a good fit if you:
-Are comfortable with Unity and C#
-Have completed at least one small game or playable prototype
-Understand basic Git workflows
-Can independently implement contained gameplay features
-Are comfortable receiving code reviews
-Communicate clearly about progress and availability
-Enjoy narrative games, puzzles and small systemic interactions

Professional experience is not required, hobbyist and juniors are welcomed but this should ideally not be your first Unity project.

I’m the creative lead and work professionally as a game UI/UX artist and graphic designer.
The returning team includes a lead programmer and contributors covering 2D art, audio and marketing. Most of us have full-time jobs, so we work around limited but realistic availability.

This is currently an unpaid hobby collaboration with flexible scheduling. A few consistent hours per week or milestone-based contributions can work, provided communication is reliable.

After the vertical slice is complete, we intend to create a written revenue-share agreement for active contributors. There is currently no salary, funding or guaranteed revenue.

Our goal is to ship something small, polished and cohesive on Steam as a collective project.

If interested, reach out on discord with short introduction and some info about your Unity experience (playable project, portfolio or GitHub).

Free photography open call for SALTPRINT Volume 01

Heya everyone!

I hope open calls are allowed here. My name is Petra, and I’m a hobby photographer and graphic designer from Croatia.

I’ve recently started SALTPRINT, a self-funded and independent print photography zine focused on building an accessible photography community and creating a printed archive of contemporary photography.

Submissions are now open for Volume 01.

The theme is From Where You Stand — photographs that show life from your own point of view.

Submissions are:
-free
-open to photographers worldwide
-open to all experience levels
-especially welcoming to beginners, students, self-taught photographers and previously unpublished work

The photograph only needs to have been taken somewhere in Europe.

Selected work will be published in the first printed volume of SALTPRINT, and three selected photographers will also be invited to take part in a short interview.

Deadline: 13 September 2026

More information and submissions:
https://saltprint.eu/

I’d also be glad to hear from other independent zine makers, since this is my first time producing a printed photography zine. Any tips are welcome :)

I’m starting an indie print photography zine built through open calls - good concept?

Hi folks,
I am a hobby photographer and a graphic designer.
I’m starting SALTPRINT, an independent (and self-funded) print photography zine and growing archive created through themed open calls.
It’s a passion project and would love to get your 2 cents.

The idea came from feeling that photographs disappear too quickly online, scrolled past, buried in a feed and rarely given enough time or space. SALTPRINT will collect selected work in a physical publication that people can keep.

The archive begins with photographs taken in Europe, but photographers can submit from anywhere in the world. You do not need a professional portfolio, a large following or expensive equipment. Beginners, students, self-taught photographers and people sharing their work for the first time are all welcome.

Each volume will include a selection of photographs from the open call. Three selected photographers will also be invited to take part in a short interview about their work and the story behind their photograph.

The first volume’s theme is:
FROM WHERE YOU STAND

Submissions will be opening soon.

More info on website in bio

I’d be interested to hear what you think of the concept, and I’d appreciate it if you shared it with photographers who might want to take part.
Also, I would love to get any advice or tips for making a zine from people who did them before.

Any tips on starting small photography magazine?

Hello good folks!
I am a beginner photographer and I enjoy learning about it and practicing as much as possible.
I am also graphic designer currently working in digital space and I miss designing for print.

I had an idea to start a small photography zine on bi-monthly basis.
Every issue would held a competition on a theme.
Top 3 winners would get a small interview section on it and a copy of the zine. There also would be sections for honorables mentions photos and a small essay that would follow the theme of volume.

First two issues I would print in my own expense and see it there’s any interest and see if I can get the word out.
The zine would be aimed to celebrate hobbiest, students, beginners and enthusiasts of photography.

I am looking for any thoughts, advice or feedback from the community!

Recommend me Space aesthetics keeb like NuPhy Field75 HE and KeysMe Lu

Hello click peeps!
I am a sucker for nice retro futurism / space/ Nasa aesthetics, and I am looking for a new keyboard that scratches that itch.
The two closest I found are NuPhy Field75 HE V2 (and I just missed the sale :// ) and KeysMe Lunar 01 Pro.
I do believe there are more out there in the wild and I need to discover them!
Give me your recommendations!
