Working for a national corporation

Seems as though a man decided to do his nails at work, nothing wrong with that, respect all to him.

Management requested he removes this nude colour. Asks Why? Management gives no answer.
Today. Sunday, We have found out theres a new policy in place, without informing our union.

Earlier this year we did a contract, explained our professional appearance and uniform. All was accepted, including knowing that management may not overlap into personal lives when it comes to appearances.

Management has now decided.

Women: Must trim their hair monthly, consider a conservative length. Little to no make up, Do not look distracting. No nails, if so, only nude colours. Consider a more conservative style. No Jewelry, if you do, only silver and gold, must be smaller than 4mm.

Men: Must always shave and fade your facial hair, consider buying hair gel.
Requests both to learn to style our hair.

Says "We are aiming for a forgettable look, we don't want families remembering you at all."

This all stemmed after an individual did their nails.
Everyones been given until Monday to comply. I have spoken to some coworkers, those who are unable to get hair and grooming appointments fear for being written up. This has been set up as a trap. Some fear they may lose their job this week due to such timing.

A coworker has reached out and feels this also stems from hate and retaliation of starting a union, this considerably goes under Canadas Gender Identity Expression, which is inclusive of LGBTQ+ and NON LGBTQ+ individuals, for those who feel the way they express their identity is through either: hair style, make up, manicures, facial hair, nail colour and jewelry

By no means do none of my coworkers appear as distracting, loud, or gaudy, everyone has a wonderful personality and appears professional at all times.

What is going on.

I have growing concern that has happened within a workplace, we are unionized but i am unsure if the proper work is being done, I have stories of sexual harassment, victim shaming, and misogyny, followed by potential gender based hate, that was followed up with new appearance (that are seemingly set in archaic, discriminatory ways) rules that were put in place without anyones knowledge, and without informing our union- who we already had a contract set with for appearance. Rules include expecting women to cut their hair at least twice a month, little to no makeup, no nails, and having a desired appearance that would be "forgettable, almost as though you wont be seen" (This was managements words)

Theres been a discriminatory case about appearance against this company i work for, in approx 2020/2021, the company is potentially paying to have this case wiped from the internet, but many of us remember this case, and how the company lost and was told how to act, it had been on the internet when easily searched, now theres no sign of it.

Hello all, I was hoping to hear some support as i feel im in a very shocked moment still..

I was recently diagnosed with aggressive pre cancer cells.

I had a normal in 2025, but my pap for 2026 showed HPV and some abnormal cells in my first 2 zones, My GP recommended i get an urgent biopsy (her words) and i had been placed on a waitlist. I was anxious as i kept feeling failed and as though "what if its growing? what if its worsening?"

I finally got my biopsy (approx 5 or 6 months later) only to be told same day that I have pre cancer cells, everywhere, and now all over my cervix, with the doctor performing the biopsy indicating she can already visibly see some indications that its begun forming into cancer.

I was initially meant to have the biopsy done on my vaginal wall, but due to her findings, she found itd be best to take a piece of my cervix directly. During such i had a panic attack, was crying and shaking (I have vaginismus, i was already incredibly nervous)

I felt extremely foolish

Im being booked in for a potential surgery soon, once the biopsy returns and my doctor knows what were dealing with, shes suggested i go for the LEEP procedure and a partial cervical removal, i just feel so alone with this.

She mentioned i would experience some cramping and bleeding for the next few days, which i am... but also some slightly grey and not pleasant smelling discharge has been happening. Is this normal? Or should I call my GP and inform her?

If you own this and often drive by the central park area, my mom lives in a carehome nearby and always sees your car. She has dementia and its currently one of the main things shell talk about, and oddly remembers it. Thanks for it, its hard to keep her into conversation mode these days. Keep up the car work !! Lol

A recommendation from a specialist, ive tried Whole foods at the solo district which was the recommended spot, they dont seem to carry it. Im wanting to avoid driving all over the city to find a spot (with the gas prices) lol

My inglis top load washer has been having an awful smell lately, at the end of a spin cycle i noticed i hear a significant amount of water sloshing at the very end of the spin cycle, making me wonder if its not draining deep enough potentially?

Of all things, a sock came through the drain tube (my drain tube is connected to empty in a sink beside the wash) and the sock was in the sink! Whats going on here, is this where all my socks are going haha

Am i able to open it up and find the source of the smell, i.e drain the water? If so, how am i meant to do this

I made a post awhiles back about a dog on my street (garden village area) that barks juat about 24/7, i tried calling for a wellness check with the spca and they claimed they couldnt do anything, despite i said i believe its neglected and even times where it begins yelping and whimpering during the days even (this obviously is upsetting to hear as i cant tell if this dogs being physically abused now :(! )

The barking starts around 6 am and goes until midnight, for hours on end, with little to no breaks inbetween

I tried contacting the city and they said it was an spca situation, (i then get redirected back to the city, then to spca, repeat)

one day i had been redirected to non emergency where i reported a potentially neglected and abused dog, non emergency said theyd intervene with enough complaints, and was surprised to hear that the spca refused to look into this.

I still cant find what house this dog is in, but its starting to drive me and some neighbours absolutely mad, ESPECIALLY know that now theres potential abuse. Whats the next step to take?

Perhaps not a protest, but i saw hundreds of people holding signs and walking the perimeter today!

I live in the garden village area, today there has been a black jetta (very dirty, license plate has been written down) going outside houses, writing down license plates and home addresses, the individual claims to be "surveilling the area" and sped off after being questioned.

The police is going to investigate and theres an open file. If you see this, please call non emergency.

The individual was witnessed writing down info and was then approached and asked what he was doing. His answer was the mentioned "Im doing surveillance"
