[FIX] How to roll back a kernel - Fix Kernel Panic after update
Some users are reporting Kernel Panics (Purple Screen) after upgrading to the kernel 7.0.0-28 generic.
To solve this, you need to roll back to an older kernel version. This is accomplished following those steps:
1- Reboot the computer. The GRUB menu should open after the failed boot
2- Select advanced options
3- Select a kernel other than the affected one and press ENTER
The system should boot as normal.
Once you gain access, remove the affected kernel as following:
1- Open the Update manager
2- Click in Show > Linux Kernels
3- Click in Continue
4- Click in Remove Kernels
5- Select the Kernel version with problem (7.0.0-28 in this case) and click in Apply.
6- After it finish, reboot your computer.
7- If prompted again, DON'T update the kernel to the version with problem, wait when there is a even newer version that probably will bring fixes to this issue.
Edit: Saved this to a Github Gist too https://gist.github.com/fellipec/5eef599c4f743fe869460f6bbf2b8061

A beautiful song that was featured in the movie Project Hail Mary, sung by the character of Sandra Hüller, in a very emotional karaoke scene.

People often asks what happens when we run out of Toy Story characters.
Just watched Toy Story 5. I think we are safe, got a bunch of new ones and can't wait for Debian Smarty Pants.
Best naming scheme EVER.

Alguém indica/recomenda/sabe de loja/pessoa que compre instrumentos musicais usados? Mais especificamente teclados.
Driver Aids Have Ruined Driving. How Far Will This Go?
The author shows driving aids that can't be turned off permanently, even by dealership, that do intrusive things like facial scans and complains if you wear a sunglass.
Ends up with a lovely argument about government control overreach.
Love KOReader! Create my own implementation of the sync server.
First thing, I've an older Kindle 4 (with physical buttons yet!), a more newer Kindle 7 and a Paperwhite 2.
Because Amazon killed the support for my older one, and got me frustrated, I decided to jailbreak it and install KOReader.
Thanks so much devs! This software is amazing!
I enjoyed it so much that I installed on the other Kindles and on my phone too. Couldn't be happier how those e-readers behave now.
Then I tried to use the progress sync feature. On one of the Kindles it didn't work, always told me unknown server error. Well, decided to self-host the server, because I enjoy those things. Noticed it was a docker image, and well, I'm not much versed on docker. Anyway worked and I used for a while.
And noticed how simple it is. Super straightforward! Just a few endpoints and a simple storage. I decided I could as an exercise in programming, do it myself. too.
So I did. Written it in Go. Just a single executable file, mimics the behavior of the original as best as I could. Same ports, 7200 for the self-signed TLS certificate, 17200 for plain HTTP. You can provide your own certificate too. There is no database, no redis, no sqlite, the data is saved as a simple JSON file, by default, on the same folder as the executable is.
I really tried to keep it as simple as possible, using the built-in Go features to encode and decode the JSON, both for storing in the file and reading/sending the progress updates to the KOReader. It is just around 600 lines of code, and it worked like a charm!
I did it to my own use, but I thought some of you may want to take a look.
The usage is simple:
kosync-go by itself run with a self-signed certificate on port 7200
kosync-go --insecure run in port 17200 without cryptography. This is how I ran the official server before, because I already have a reverse proxy configured with my own certificates.
kosync-go --disable-new-users when you already set up your users and don't want people to create others.
Anyway, if any of you want to take a peek it lives here https://github.com/fellipec/kosync-go
And, once more, my thanks to the devs and community of KOReader for this amazing software!
I don't know if you guys also notice but in the experimental the trains lost the fluids on the filters for load and unloading.

So now Windows folks can type ~ to reach their home folder too!
Nice, Microsoft! Just about 50 years late
Some folks only type the password once when run sudo visudo
