Barber/Salon that will donate hair?

My 18 year old, who's always had very long hair, wants to donate it before uncle same shaves it off. Any recommendations, or will most places do this? Don't have much experience with mens cuts!

How long should I wait until I ask for contacts?

I just got my first pair of glasses today, I'm suppose to wear them full time. They are kind of weird, I can see much clearer and my eyes feel relaxed, but it's also weird having something on my nose and ears. When I found out I needed glasses I asked about contacts and my parents said they wanted me to get use to wearing them full time before trying contacts. I don't want to be a nag, but I also want contacts as soon as possible.

How do you stop your snorkel mouthpiece from yellowing?

I haven't had gone snorkeling in a while, but I pulled mine out for a trip and the mouthpiece is all yellow. It's a shame because I dislike the normal stock mouthpieces, and found this one to the perfect amount of comfy.

Do you need your parents for any part of the application?

I've still got a couple of years but my parents are dead set against me attending/joining the military. If I did get accepted I wish I would have one of those smiling photos with the acceptance letter with my parents but probably won't happen and I accept that.

I know once I hit 18 I can do whatever, but I will be applying when I am 17, do I need anything from my parents or can I just do it?

I feel like my parents are actively sabotaging me and I don't know what to do???

I'm sorry but this has been building up.

I'm a rising sophomore and I'm kind of in blah suburbia. My parents have always sort of been against public schools (even though we live in quite a good school district), and so they are sending me to a private school 45 minutes away. For the past three years they've (usually my mom) has driven me there, 45 minutes there, 45 minutes back. The private school is non-religious but fine, however none of the seniors really graduate to go onto big schools.

I'm working really hard on academics, make good grades, going into advance classes, do extra-curriculars. I really really want to go to a service academy, like the Air Force Academy but also I want to apply to Navel Academy. Idk, I know odds are against me, but I want to put in the work and I want to do it.

The talk of college came up, and I've sort of kept this from them, but then at dinner I just said "I am going to apply to a service academy. Probably Air Force". My parents sort of seemed shocked, and asked why. I kind of said I've researched it, it looks fun (in a way), I want to learn to be a leader, it's kind of an adventure. Also in my brain I am thinking, I really want to get away. My parents have a college fund for me, both went to a local state school nearby (right next to the private school actually), and so... I sort of feel like it's really easy to get stuck here.

My mom said that I would hate the Air Force Academy, that I wanted to study something creative. Sure, I do theatre and I play guitar that is a bit of my personality... but also I've always thought it would be cool to be a pilot. My dad laid down the couch and was "I failed" (he's done this dramatically before, when I got a C once in middle school). I'm was like "It's free. If I get in, you have the college fund." And he was like "We've worked hard so you wouldn't have to join the military" and I was like "But I want to join the military". And that's basically that and we haven't talked about it since.

Additionally to this, last year I joined football for the first time. It's not my favorite, but I actually started to like it and I was decent. I've done research and I feel I really need to play a sport every year, and my team is so small I could probably become a captain by junior year. but the practices are at 6:30am this year and my mom is refusing to go up that early, because it's leaving the house at 5:45am everyday. It'll be another year until I can drive myself, so I'm stuck. I've asked about attending the public school nearer to me and they arent budging.

I'm also concerned that... my school is called a college preperatory school and two years ago we had one senior go the air force academy, but beyond that, nobody really goes to big time schools. a lot go to the local state university, a lot also go to community college, or small schools I've never heard of. idk, I'm kind of summer spiraling but it seems like the odds are stacking against me and my parents just... don't seem interested.

Finally, I also just want my parents to be proud. I saw photos from the air force academy, of students with their acceptance things, their parents proud, or dressed in their uniforms with parents, and my parents just seem so unhappy that I want to go.

So, any advice?

Those in the Media Arts program, how is it from a networking/internship point of view?

I'm exploring my options and I am interested in UNT, but I am worried that UNT is sort of... physically far from any sort of main hub of production? Like I would figure it's (more competitive for sure) at least geographically easier to get internships/network and stuff at in Austin or New York. Does the Media Art's department at least have strong connections to places in Austin/New York/California for summer internships etc?

I most admit, my dream goal is to work more so on the business/development side rather than being the one to press record on a camera, so I wonder if I should actually be looking at the school of Business.

I'm going to a military school.

So the public high school I am suppose to go to is... not very good. My brother, who has always been determined to go into the military, went to a military high school and now goes to West Point. I don't really want to go to the military like him, but my parents pushed me towards going to the military high school.

At first I was a bit resistant, and I must admit my stomach is still churning a bit, but also I am sort of excited. Idk. I know it's a much better school and my brother learned all sorts of leadership things and that excites me. First years get their heads shaved on the first day and I'm nervous about (I have long hair right now) and that sort of churns my stomach. And wearing a uniform all the feels like it's weird.

So sort of strange mix of being excited, nervous, not really into the military but also it seems like a unique experience.

My parents want send me to military school, any advice?

So I am about to go into high school, and the high school my school feeds into is is not the greatest. My brother went to a military school for high school... (a school in New Mexico) and now goes to West Point... but he was always very determined to go to a service academy. I... don't really want to go into the military.

Anyways, my parents say I am going to the military school. I asked why, and my parents said the above about the local school, and they said it was great for my brother. He learned leadership, responsibility, and it got him into West Point.

I said I'm not planning to go into the military, and I don't want to march and buzz my hair and wear a uniform all the time. My parents said my brother was nervous about the same thing but wound up loving it and that it's just hair and a uniform and I shouldn't throw away the opportunity.

Anyways, does anyone have any advice?

Is it weird I've never worn a tie before?

I'm fourteen and I would say my family is very casual. We just don't have that many chances to dress up and when it is it's khaki's and polos. We have a formal wedding coming up and my parents got me my suit and tie. Is it weird I've never worn a tie before until now? Anything I should know about wearing a suit and tie?

AITAH for not wanting to go to a military school?

I see the logic of my parents and objectively it's a better school, but I would prefer to go a better school without the marching, uniform, buzz cuts, etc. AITAH?

Where do you put the mouthguard when it's not in your mouth?

Coming to lacrosse from soccer and in my league we are required to wear mouthguards to every practice and game. Do you get one that attaches to your helmet or get one that does not. I saw a teammate put it in his helmet vent but I'd be worried about it falling out and loosing it.

Limits on contact sports?

My 13 year old son has grown up playing hockey, and this was the first year that he played lacrosse in the spring season and he loved it. He is now wanting to play football in the fall... which means it's basically contact sports year round.

I rolled with hockey because we started him at a young age, his dad played, hockey just felt different although maybe it's just not that different. He has taken some hard hits in hockey. I've toyed with seeing if he wants to stay active all year, either swimming in the fall or playing baseball in the spring, I've mentioned baseball but he has no interest.

Is my mind just running? Should I have some talk and say either the lacrosse or football needs to be... something else for now?

AITAH for not wanting to get my hair cut?

So my parents are very prim and proper and conservative, I feel like it took a lot to convince them to let me grow my hair out over hockey and lacrosse season, but I said after it was done I needed to get it cut short. I said sure, and by now it's grown out to a nice mullet/flow style. However, lacrosse season is over and they are wanting me to cut it short.

I asked why, and they said I made a deal and short hair is better for the summer. I've also got a formal wedding coming up, and they say it needs to be off the collar for that since Ill be wearing a suit and tie.

Does anyone gag whenever they are above water?

I just got open water certified, and whenever I first put my regulator in above water, or have it in while floating above water, I gag. However, when I go under water, I am perfectly fine. It's noticeable whenever I test the air, put in to go down, or our instructor had us keep the mouthpiece in while we on the surface until we made it onto the boat.

Is 14 a late age to get glasses?

I'm 14 and just got glasses today. All my friends either don't need glasses or they have had glasses for years. So I feel like being 14 I'm getting them later. I am suppose to wear them full time. Is it normal to feel like it's weird to have something constantly on your ears and nose?

Just got my first pair of glasses today!

I don't know if 14 is a late age to get glasses, all my friends have either had glasses for a long time or don't have glasses. But I already feel that my eyes are less strained. I am suppose to wear them full time, doing my best to get use to them. It feels weird to have something always on my ears and nose.

Does anyone not actually mind wearing nice clothes and a tie?

So at my current school, we have to wear dress shirts, dress pants, and a tie everyday. When I started at this school, I kind of hated wearing a tie and tucking in my shirt and all that... but strangely... I kind of like wearing a tie. I think dress pants are actually rather comfortable, and ties aren't bad. Matter of fact, the other day I kept the tie on under a quarter zip to go out to dinner after school and I sort of like the look.

i'm getting my first pair of glasses and i've got a couple of questions.

i'm 14 and never worn glasses before but today i just had my first eye doctor appointment and turns out i definitely need glasses. i picked out a pair i liked and i'm excited to get them because i know my vision is bad and my eyes are straining.

question 1, how long does it take to get use to them? most people I know who have had glasses got them younger than me so idk if getting them at 14 is late?

question 2, I have a prism correction and the doctor said because of that, contacts are out, is that true?

if that is the case, what should I do for sports? I play hockey and football

will I always need glasses?

idk excited to get glasses, but also i feel like it's going to be weird to have something on my face all the time for like... forever.
