how did people with audhd get through school?

im currently a teen in highschool with around 2-3 more years to stay in. i am really struggling with school and have for about 8 years. going into school is like a shock to my nervous system and it feels like im held at gunpoint, since my nervous system cant tell the difference between being nervous for school, and being held at gunpoint. and at school i just feel like im masking or im out of place the entire time. i dont learn anything due to being in so inconsistently or late because of trying to pull myself together before class. i intentionally am late to class so i dont need to pick who to sit to since im not great at socializing and with people, but its also embarassing with everyone watching me. i have a very inconsistent attendance and have been in very little especially over the past 4 years. it took such a toll on my health that i actually was in hospital due to stomach pains and migraines from stress.

i have no choice but to stay in for a while until i can get pass exams for future jobs, but i dont know how to continue. i go in school to be embarassed, have panic attacks and be lonely and pushed to the sidelines. i struggle a lot and really feel like im going to crash soon. i tried to warn my parents that if i crash from stress and being overwhelmed, i wont be able to drag myself out of it, but they said i just need to stick it out and suck it up until i end school.

schools starting in a few days and im more then petrified, i struggle doing simple daily things but school is a huge trigger for me for a lot of reasons. its loud, bright, and im constantly scanning people or rooms. i genuinely cant continue to live like this.

if someone could share their experience through secondary it would be helpful.

im a teen with audhd and i dont understand how im meant to function properly as an adult when im older. its scary to think about.

i am a teen with audhd and feel hugely behind in life, i really cant go out on my own and struggle with basic daily tasks. its really embarassing since my family thinks im being dramatic. i am mainly worried about growing up and having to work and be a functioning member of society and its really scary to think about, i already struggle HUGELY with school and have for 8 years.

if anyone else is audhd/adhd/autism as an adult, can you please tell me what works for you?

no one understands how it feels to have safe foods and i hate it

tonight someone very kindly cooked for me, but it was different to what i usually have and was a specific part of chicken which i really cant eat, it had nerves and was pink due to it being a different area on the chicken, also it had a different texture, and i didnt know how to voice that i couldnt physically eat it, since if i did i thought id get shouted at or told im being ridiculous, so i didnt know what else to do, so i unintentionally start crying.. my family members then go on to shout at me and tell me to just eat it and get over it and that the only reason i dont want to eat it is since im staring at it.

i wish they knew what it felt like to be as restricted as i am, its not me being picky or that i want to be like this when it comes to food, i physically cannot stomach other foods except the things i usually have and i wish they could understand it isnt just me being rude.

i apologised for being unable to eat it and left.

luckily the person who cooked for me understands i have these issues whether its new foods or textures, so she (mostly) understands, however i left the whole situation feeling misunderstood and seen as being rude and im just honestly in pieces and overwhelmed from everyone shouting at me at once, it also didnt help with me not being able to say what i felt in that moment and what was wrong.

Can people tell me their experience getting an autism/auDHD diagnosis?

im waiting on getting an assessment and am nervous due to the unpredictibility, im looking to hear peoples experience before, during and even after the test.

im a teen and its not “new” for me going throughout tests or going to doctors, however theyve just usually physical issues, or for mental health, so i shouldnt be nervous, but somehow am. i feel quite overwhelmed by how large of a process and label (if it comes out as positive) it is. unfortunately its getting closer and closer im getting more and more nervous.

i have an autism assessment coming up and im very nervous

i was suggested a wee while back to get an autism/audhd assessment and have been nervous for doing so for a while, now that it is very close to being done, im freaking out and i dont want to do it, but know how helpful it could possibly be.

im suddenly very conscious that its a real thing, and that it determines a lot in my life, im also hugely feeling imposter syndrome as if im somehow “faking” it or something, even though deep down i know im not.

its very new for me and so regardless of me looking into it as much as possible for my comfort, i still feel very out of place and overwhelmed by the idea of it.

please if anyone has advice it would be really helpful, i dont know why i feel like this.

edit; also, im a teenage girl, and have been told im emotional my entire life, or that im just nervous, and so im very afraid of it being either positive or negative for different reasons, is this normal to feel?

my doctor suggested i get an autism test but im scared

a while back i went to the doctor about stomach issues, migraines and anxiety. later in the appointment she suggested its possible it could be further and that i might be on the spectrum. i left feeling confused since as a teen girl id never heard that, it was always “youre just nervous” etc… i went home and straight away did a deep dive on everything she mentioned (autism, adhd and ADD) and i am nervous to admit it, but so far im genuinely realizing that a LOT of why i might feel how i do is because its possibly something there, mainly sounding like audhd. i really dont want to self diagnose so please please do not think that that is what im doing, i just feel lost, and i tried speaking to family members about it, but i feel like an attention seeker or like im overreacting, but i am so desperate to get an answer to why i have been like i have my entire life. although, i am SO nervous to go to the assessment, its not new for me being in and out of doctors and hospitals etc.. but its VERY new for me to be going for an official \\\*diagnosis\\\*. i feel like because i did a deep dive so i knew what it was and what to expect, as if ive “cheated” or like im faking it even though i know im not. im terrified to go, do the test, and be told im not on the spectrum despite doing all the research that i have.

i am also a teenager and get told a lot that its just hormones or my “sleeping pattern” being off, also along with being told its just my anxiety. my parents arent NOT supportive but also arent as supportive as i hope or feel that i need, my dad believes that my generation are doing it for attention, and thinks its just a play or way to get attention and get “coddled” like a baby. and my mum believes i have it but i keep telling her the importance of figuring it out and contacting doctors and whoever i could speak to about it, and she doesnt seem to understand the urgency of the situation, because im SO tired of being told im making excuses, being lazy, or overreacting.

please someone tell me what to do i feel very stuck and as if theres no good option..

My hamster baby is getting older, and i genuinely dont know what to do

My dwarf hamster is nearly 2 years old and is displaying a lot of signs of old age. I genuinely dont know what to do, and it pains me watching him run about happily throughout his enclosure, not knowing that his life will soon come to an end due to old age. Please does anyone have advice on how to cope with this, or how i can help him.

This is one of my favourite photos of him, since he finally learnt how to use a bottle :)
