Yes I will be doing every Merc through the ages
When looking at Jack from Bioshock 1 and Delta from Bioshock 2 there's a very interesting clear difference between the design philosophy of how the 2 characters play outside of the level of power we see. Obviously because Delta is in a massive armored diving suit, can use plasmids and guns at the same time and has weapons that are the size of Jack it makes sense anyone could see differences between the two. However there was something very interesting about how their stories play out that came to my mind: A Man chooses, a Slave obeys.
For Jack the railroading of the story is also a huge narrative inclusion, you have to kill Ryan, you have to do Fontaine’s dirty work and you have to pick up the radio to start the game. However for Delta there's a lot of choice in how the player can go through the story, from killing or sparing key antagonists to the only choice Jack also gets to make in saving or harvesting little sisters, Delta gets to make choices that will reflect himself as a person and that imprints onto Elenor.
Finally the idea that Jack despite being very human looking and Delta being an ironclad monster their roles are reversed in how they operate, Jack by force of the narrative is a scrappy genetic freak that goes through rapture killing anybody who gets in his way, while Delta is portrayed as more of a gentle giant who while in his own right is forced to be reckoned with can choose to spare or ignore most of the problems he encounters, not to mention the loving care he shows for the little sisters he “adopts”.
In the end Jack is a slave to the narrative and therefore cannot choose while Delta is a Man who can choose how they tackle the moral problems of Rapture.
The projects that come to mind are project: Cobalt, Nuka Cola's militarization of their soft drink, that created a stinging Nuka spray, and increasing explosive cola based projectiles. The other one is Abraxodyn's project: Meadow Breeze, an aerosolized detergent that caused extreme irritation and acted as a self igniting accelerant.
What do y'all think, any obvious one I'm missing, also yes before anyone points it out West Tek and other military production companies do not count. Only companies with unrelated products to the military that were contracted count
I need to preface this by saying I am not going anywhere anytime soon so not to worry this isn't like a deathbed confession or a doomed attitude.
I was just thinking about all the impacts I've made in life and it's just good to know that the people I've met and loved have had a positive impact due to my actions, now I don't want to say it's all because of me, because it's not. But knowing I've helped people out through difficult times and been there to watch them grow because they were able to get past that really puts a smile on my face.
This is all just to say that I know if I dropped dead right now my legacy would be one of comfort and caring to the people I love most and that's a really good feeling.
