Diva down!! 😖 3 month progress

This is the Fenty Beauty Cheeks out Cream blush in Rosé Latte, today vs early April of this year.

It randomly broke apart while I was using it today :( I’ve had it for four years so I can’t REALLY complain, especially since I threw this in my bag a lot. I will complain a little bit though because I brought this on a trip with me and now I’m purse blush-less until I’m back home.

Still a really great formula & shade & easy to apply so I will def be taping this up 😤 see you all in a few more months when it’s empty.

Comment for links epidemic (rant)

So ik everyone talks about this but there’s NOTHING more irritating than when a creator makes a super hyped up video and hides the shade name (or even the PRODUCT name) while showing the swatches just to get you to comment.

I can’t articulate well but it’s very deceptive; while all beauty creators sometimes overhype products these people go the extra mile just to make you curious and engage w their post.

Plus, when I’m watching reels from international creators I enjoy reading the comment sections cause there’s further discussions; people sharing their own reviews and experiences, but here the comment section is just a sea of people asking for the link, makes me ditch the vid so quick.

It’s extra frustrating because the in store experience is pretty awful (at least for me), like in Nykaa or Lifestyle the staff are pushy and rude and sometimes decline to give us the shade name or even tell us the price, and then when I choose to shop online and look at other people’s reviews for help they pull the same bs there.

People are also so used to being spoonfed now that even when the creator hasn’t done any of that, people comment asking for links for the dumbest things which they could find on their own with one google search. Seriously, SEARCH for the product using reverse image search or just use your words, then CLICK a few links to see the price and the discounts offered and read whether it’s a long lasting transfer proof product or whatever else you want to know. But that’s a separate rant lol.

experimenting…🪄

I loosely followed this tutorial I found: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaNnELiuzog/

I don’t have the palette she’s using, but I’ve tried using somewhat similar shades, essentially you just need a purple, a periwinkle (I just used a light blue), a purple shimmer, and a blue/green/teal shimmer. I also used a little bit of coral near the crease, mixed in with the purple.

I really love how it turned out although I wish I’d used the purple all over my eyelid; I left a gap in the centre like she did but the shimmer I’m using is too sheer I think. You can really see the gap in the middle picture (taken with flash). The other photos are in natural lighting.

Products used:
Morphe x Maddie Ziegler Palettes 1&2
Huda Beauty Wild Python Palette
Maybelline Sky High Mascara

I’ve put a star on the shades used :-)

cool/unique shade names?

Hi! I love posts like this and haven’t seen one recently, so:

Do you have any shade names you really like?

Here are some of mine:

‘Like I was Saying…’ (MAC Lustreglass Lipstick)
‘Lady Lagoon’ (Fenty Flypencil Liner)
‘Vamps who Brunch’ (Fenty Slip Shine Sheer Lipstick)
‘Mama Earth’ (REM Beauty Interstellar Highlighter)
‘Saving the World’ (Colourpop x Powerpuff Girls Blush)
‘Rain Boots’ and ‘Downpour’ (Morphe x Maddie Ziegler Changement Eyeshadow Palette)

I like when shade names are generally descriptive (I.e ‘warm brick’), and if they’re going to be different, they’d better be fun!

AIO? my friend told me my coworker doesn’t like me because of my extreme makeup choices and that’s why she’s stuck up and cold with me ?

I’m always super nice to my coworkers complimenting them . And everyone is nice except this one girl who barely speaks. I’ve been sad about it because I really don’t understand what I did to her. My friend said “ she probably thinks your makeup is weird and thinks you are mentally off for wearing blue or black lipstick in the day time .” Now admit my makeup is crazy but it’s one of my passions. I wear blue eyeshadow and purple . . I actually get a lot of compliments from everyone even the crazy looks get compliments from coworkers

Eyeliner/Kajal Collection & Swatches <3

Basic Info is in the photos but I'll list them out again with a brief (I'll try...) review:

Nykaa Black Magic Kajal: Pretty unremarkable, it's just a black gel liner. It does transfer when I rub it but I don't experience any transfer or smudging when I actually wear it. Maybe avoid if you have oily lids or watery eyes. I'm almost finished with it and will probably replace with a pencil liner, I'd prefer a sharp point for wings.

Maybelline Tattoo Studio Liner in Espressotini: It's a nice and creamy formula, this one actually comes with a sharpener and smudger on the back (though I never ended up using them)

Colorbar I-Glide Eye Pencils: The purple shade is glittery while the turqouise is more shimmery. I bought these at the same time (been about 2y) and the purple goes on smoothly while the turqouise is a bit dry and needs to be dragged on. I still LOVE the shade so I just take my time to slowly apply it.

NYX JUMBO Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha: Formula is really smooth and creamy, it definitely transfers (when I tried to smudge the swatch I basically rubbed the entire thing off) I don't remember buying this, and it's not a shade I would have chosen...I randomly found it a few weeks ago in a box of art supplies lmao. The shade is a bit cool for my liner/shadow preferences, but I've been using it as a lipstick topper to create a frosty look and I'm very happy with it (I've been wanting a frost lippie for ages but can't find many options here)

Kay Beauty Eyeshadow Stick in Golden Hour: I use this as an eyeliner, I prefer the chubbier stick for application, plus I think a thicker swipe makes metallic shades like this pop more. A few other shades from this line are in my wishlist, I really love the formula and how smoothly it glides on.

Too Faced Killer Liner: Don't recommend this, formula dries out like crazy in less than a year. Have had the same experience with a NARS pencil liner in the past, although that was a brown so I managed to use most of it before it dried. It's not unusable, but it's nowhere near as smooth and creamy as it was when I bought it.

Fenty Beauty Flypencil in Lady Lagoon: LOOOOVE this formula and shade so much, I have very little left and wish I had bought more shades before they discontinued the line :( I have had this for a long time and it's still smooth and creamy, plus it's very pigmented with very little pressure required. Very irritated that they replaced this line with new eyeliners in boring shades (except for one Navy blue shade that looks cool)

Morphe 2 Always Online Gel Liners: Pretty basic formula. I like the shades I have, but I think there are creamier options available now which are also transfer proof, so I won't recommend these.

NYX Epic Wear Liquid Liner: You can tell by my swatch I am not talented at applying liquid liners, but the product itself is fantastic. I love how opaque it is, the brush is really thin so you can do graphic/artsy looks with it, and it doesn't budge. On that note though it gets a bit annoying to remove. I washed all the swatches off my hand with an oil cleanser + hand wash and this liner is the only one that didn't wash off fully. I don't want to have to scrub or pull at my eyes to remove a product, but again people w oily eyelids or doing makeup for events might appreciate it.

Sephora Collection 12h Shadow Stick in Eggplant Matte: This is newest to my collection. I LOVE purple tones like this that almost look brown or black in certain lighting. Formula is great, pigmented and really easy to apply. This also comes with a sharpener attached + is waterproof! Also a shadow stick I am using as a liner.

General Thoughts/Chat:

If you like having bright colored liners for occasional use, go for a gel/twist up product instead of a pencil, IMO it will last longer without drying out.

If you have a med or deep skintone like me and you're worried about these bright shades getting lost or not showing up well on your skin, I like to pair these WITH a brown or black liner. I'll use a bright shade to line my eyes and then do the edges/wing with a black or brown, and then blend the two together.

That said if you have darker skin don't be afraid of super light or pastel shades, if you find a good opaque formula they will look really good on you because of the contrast with your skin tone.

Lip pencils (if you're looking for a nice brown or berry) can actually be used as eyeliners, there's a lot more shade variety to suit your skin tone. Shadow sticks and liners can be used as lip products, as it's hard to find unconventional lip shades these days. ofc patch test first for any reactions and don't use the same product on the eyes and lips.

PS: Accidentally posted this as a text post first, so if you’re seeing it for the second time that’s why

(mostly) MAC lipstick swatches

I was bored and trying to make a swatch library for myself & thought someone here may find these useful too. I have neutral-warm skin (I think....) in case that helps.

Photos have just the lipsticks swatched on my bare lips! Normally I will wear with a liner and/or gloss, or mix a few shades together, or layer to create an ombre sort of look.

I love all these formulas except the NARS (personally I don't like matte transferproof lipsticks), and the MAC powder kiss liquid (I prefer the bullet version).

It's hard to say what my favs are; I love all of photo #2 and use those shades the most, but I also love the reds and pinks and berries. Recently I've been using those a lot more, they go really well with light/no makeup.

If I were ever to buy another lipstick it would either be something orange toned or something purple toned (like a nice plum red! or bright orange)

Marking as nsfw to be safe since they're close ups.

CAE not watch horror movies?

I watched a horror movie (hereditary, if that’s relevant) around three weeks ago and have had trouble sleeping since.

I freak myself out at night and end up staying awake with a show or YouTube video to keep me company until my eyes hurt and I’m super anxious. I do fall asleep eventually without meaning to.

It’s getting better and I’m sure I’ll be fine in another week or two, but I’m just wondering if this is normal? I feel like I’m too old to be feeling like this (I’m in my 20s). I know not liking horror is totally normal but I dislike not being able to handle it.

revisiting old hits

I was feeling nostalgic for 2022-23 beauty TikTok and all the products that were popular then. The image isn’t an exhaustive list or timeline accurate by any means, just what I could think of off the top of my head.

I know it’s the nature of beauty creators to be pushing new products but these were products that went MEGA viral and I almost never see anymore (except maybe the Milk primer). There are other products that had their big moment but still get talked about often such as Huda’s Easy Bake powders, Fenty Gloss Bombs, Rare Beauty liquid blushes, etc.

I’d like to know:

  1. Were / are you a fan of any of these products (including any not pictured that fit the prompt)?
  2. Any of these you still use / think stood the test of time and were deserving of the hype?
  3. Which currently popular products do you think will become ‘staples’ vs be forgotten in a year or so?

ETA so I’m realising 3-4 years isn’t that long and maybe old wasn’t the right term. Maybe ‘recent’? In my defense I was in college then & just getting into makeup so it was a very distinct time period for me.

I have this in the shade 14P (not very impressed by the shade range….) I wanted a concealer that matched my skin’s depth as my usual one (Huda Beauty 5.1, bottom swatch) is too light for me in the summer. Plus, I wanted to use it all over my face instead of just under the eyes.

Packaging: It’s really pretty and I like the shape of the applicator. The brush is totally useless in my opinion, it’s soft but the shape and bristles just aren’t good for this type of concealer, I tried it once and it just made it look creasy. I use a small sponge to apply this.

Wear: I didn’t notice any oxidation, and it doesn’t separate or crease or look patchy on me, and it’s easy to blend.

My only complaint is that it’s marketed as being full coverage and it is NOT full coverage at all, lmao. Though the shades are different, the swatch on my hand should show how opaque the Huda beauty concealer is vs this one. I have to apply 2-3 full layers (not just dots, I use full swipes) to cover my dark circles, and this is after using a color corrector.

You can build it up without it looking patchy which is good, but I shouldn’t have to with something marketed as full coverage…this is medium coverage at best.

When I think full coverage I think of Huda or Too Faced where a few little dots blend out like crazy, and I can use a few swipes to cover my face and skip foundation.

I think you’ll like this if you have normal to dry skin and you just want a light - medium coverage concealer with a natural finish.

Also, I get that everything has hyaluronic acid and niacinamide and some kind of oil or extract in it nowadays, but why does this have SPF10 displayed proudly on the tube 😭 any extra sun protection is good but spf10 is really nothing….

Hi!! So I’m currently using the CT brightening powder in the shade tan; I love it and have nearly used it up. It’s too light for all over my face so I use it only under my eyes to brighten. My one gripe is that it can look yellow if slightly overdone.

I was thinking of replacing it with the regular Charlotte tilbury powder instead in a shade that matches my skin tone, so I could use it as an all over setting powder. Is this comparable to the Huda Beauty loose powder?

Also, would Givenchy’s pressed powder work as an under eye setting/brightening powder on me without looking too yellow?

Would love recs from anyone that’s used any of these products, thank you <3

This used to be my favorite shade but now it’s out of stock literally everywhere Mac is sold :(

It’s the color excess gel liner in graphic content

I’m struggling to find purple eyeliners in this shade that aren’t a bright or glittery purple.

Would love to hear any recommendations <3 thank you
