Decided to start doing tiktok marketing

So i got inspired by another post to do tiktok marketing for games. Will it work? idk yet

In the end i guess its just a numbers game. if you post 2-3 videos every day for a month maybe the algorithm will eventually pick it up.

everyone and their grandma are using tiktok and its such a casual app with billion of users, break from work? scroll tiktok. commute? scroll tiktok, school / work / family gatherings? scroll tiktok.

back in the day u had twitter for game dev marketing. you could just throw up a few hashtags and suddenly it got seen by thousands of people, but that changed when they nerfed hashtags, suddenly twitter engagement dropped.

so maybe its the new social media for marketing. consistency and a bit of luck?

so yea just wanted to share. open to hear any experiences people have with this approach. does it translate to sales or wishlists etc?

also feel free to give my steam page and game ur worst :)

Looking for 5-10 people to playtest my game

hey all,

so im a solo developer that has been working on and off on this game for almost 2 years and i think its soon ready for release, but theres still a lot of bugs, so looking for playtesters

the game is a single player action RPG with colony sim elements, like bellwright / rimworld / valheim.

heres a link to the game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3313070/Frontier_Forge/

also im not using the synty assets anymore as in the trailer. i have to make a new trailer, but there are some bugs atm that do i cant make a new trailer yet so. if u wanna see how the game looks u have to go through the patch notes

basically what you have to do is:

play the game, find any bugs you can and write them down and post them on the steam community board for the game, theres a dedicated thread there. i also have a discord channel u can join

notice things like:

What did you like or not like about the game

is it easy or hard to figure out

is the UI intuitive

is the controls good or bad

can you complete quests and dialogue

are the workers working

can you do tasks

thats basically it.

please comment with why you want to playtest it etc

also keep in mind there will be a lot of bugs, treat it like an alpha thats close to beta.

Want to showcase my GOAP / worker system i have been working on for the past 6 months / 1 year. It can handle around 20 workers all doing complex goap tasks. Game draws inspiration from Bellwright. A medieval RPG with colony sim elements.

Hello ! For the past year i have been working on a game similar to Bellwright. I thought it was a really amazing game, but after playing it i found the AI to quickly started to fall apart later in the game. they would hang, idle and not do tasks, so i came up with the absolutely crazy idea, as a solo developer, to make a worker system like bellwright all by myself, like what could go wrong :)

anyways after many hours of sweat and tears its finally working.

the workers are capable of doing very complex tasks, autonomously by themselves.

For example you can assign them to craft a bronze helm. then they will make a plan to craft it. So in order to craft it they will need materials. So to craft a bronze helm they need a bronze bar. to get a bronze bar they need a tin bar and a copper bar and in order to get those they need a tin ore and copper ore. And in order to mine those veins they are going to need a pick axe. so their plan will be to: first find wood to craft a pickaxe, they will do this by finding wood laying on the ground or in stockpiles. then they will go to a bench and craft a pickaxe, now they will find the ores in the world, go and mine them. then once they have them they will go and smelt the ores into bars at a smelter, and then once they have the required bars they will make a bronze bar, then craft a helm.

im not sure how complex this really is but it feels good to have it working. Not sure how regular RTS works or how bellwright / aska works, but i feel this goap system is really scalable. Now i can just add any sort of item and they can find a path to craft it.

RN theres 20 workers, but in theory it should be able to scale to 50 or 100 ig.

but yea i just wanted to share it and make a writeup. feel free to ask any questions.
