Met this friendly fella next to the bakery
I've seen this cat before, I think he's someone's indoor-outdoor cat. He's got lovely blue eyes.

I've seen this cat before, I think he's someone's indoor-outdoor cat. He's got lovely blue eyes.
My indoor-outdoor cat is a huge asshole to other cats she meets. I've seen her chase intruders faaaar out of her own territory, and unfortunately she seems to have beef with the indoor-outdoor outdoor cat who lives a couple doors down. I leash walking her sometimes, and she'll often mark her territory, so she's definitely quite territorial.
But recently a horny tomcat has been coming around, often meowing, calling for the local unfixed ladies. I call him TabbyTom because he's a brown tabby tomcat, sorta self-explanatory. He's totally feral, stays far away from me and is really skittish. And on a couple occasions I've seen them just chilling near each other, casually, which is rare with my and any other cat. Like in this Pic, he was laying in the grass while she was pouncing on bugs, not the least bit worried about him.
Ultimately I want to capture him and cut his little furry nuggets off.
A little over a month ago, I was zooming asking on the highway when a tiny white fluffball ran out in front of me and fortunately made it across the road just in time. So I grabbed her off the side of the highway and moved Pancake into my home, where she slowly got used to my adult cat.
A few weeks later, I was driving home late in the evening and noticed a pair of eyes reflect off my headlights. After pulling over, I was able to coax out a little void kitten from the undergrowth.
I kept them mostly separate for the first week with limited interaction, and then let them hang out after the black kitten, Nyx, was cleared medically. Pancake and adult resident were really not a fan of Nyx at first, but after a week or so they play a ton, always chasing and wrestling each other. They are still warming up though, and I've started to notice a little bit of cuddling on occasion. This morning I was fortunate enough to wake up to both kittens snuggled up on me in bed
Voidling kitten was being a little scoundrel and attacking the resident adult's tail- adult gave her a little smack
Occasionally I'll see a modern bike that carries the same name as a vintage model. Some, like most of Specialized's lineup, have remained true to their original purposes, but in many cases the model has often become warped over time into something far different from original, and in some situations, have become total junk. What examples irk you? Are there any models that have seen the opposite occur?
I found this little kitten dumped on the side of the road last week, she's been super sweet and when not playing (she's a kitten so she does a lot of that) she just loves smooshing her face against mine and snoozing on or against me. Oh, and she also plays fetch! Chases toys and then brings them right back to me, I didn't even have to train her to do that, it's incredible.
Just a small update on this little Void! Found this little kitten a couple days ago, and she wants to spend every minute laying on top of me and aggressively making biscuits on my face. She purrs non-stop, as well. It's cute as heck but these claws are needle sharp!
Unfortunately I've got three cats right now all separated in my apartment, so I can't give her quite as much snuggle time as she wants. The bathroom she's locked in is pretty small, I've got to wedge my head under the bathtub to fully lay down, but I'm thinking I may try spending an evening in there to satisfy her cuddle quota.
I just found this void kitten last night, and she's going to be stuck in the bathroom for a week until she can get medically tested, and until the resident cat (and other new kitten, especially) stops hissing every time they catch a whiff of her scent.
She's been incredibly affectionate, choosing snuggle time over food in most scenarios, and has already gotten comfy hiding in my pants and chilling on my shoulder as I use the restroom.
Well, the cat distribution system is throwing everything my way recently. A month ago, a kitten ran out in front of me on the highway, fortunately just quick enough to avoid being flattened. And tonight, late in the evening, I saw a pair of glowing eyes on the side of a road somewhat known for its illegal dumping- wether that be furniture, old tires, or occasionally pets. Of course I pulled over and with a little encouragement this little kitten came out of hiding and immediately started rubbing all over my legs. She was skinny, but didn't even seem all that interested in the treats in my hand, she just seemed happy to be with someone.
Anyways, I've now got my small apartment sectioned off three ways amongst the three cats. Both other cats were hissing and the other kitten especially seems disturbed by the new intruder. The void seems a little larger than my 10-week kitten, so I'd guess she's around 3 months. I'll keep her separate for now until I can get her cleared medically. Ultimately I'll probably try to surrender her to the local shelter (they're great though, no-kill) or rehome as this is all a bit much. In the interim though I think she could be a good playmate for my other kitten, if they can get along.
This is now the third free cat I've received.
A couple years ago a pregnant stray followed me home, ran into my house, and then refused to leave. A month ago, a tiny white kitten was playing Forgger on the highway and narrowly avoided being pancaked. And now, I've found a little void kitten on my way home from a softball game.
It's kind of my own fault, I happened to be driving around with a cat crate in my car, so I was basically asking for a scenario like this. I was on my way home, around 11pm, and saw some glowing eyes reflecting my headlights, and a little black figure ran off the road and into some bushes. I pulled off the road and after some "here kitties" and "pspsps" I was answered with some meows and a smol void! This little lady (?) seems to be around the samebage as my other kitten, maybe a hair larger, so perhaps 3 months old. She also has a tail that seems unusually long...
Anyways, I'm sure she'll turn into a chaotic ball of energy just in a couple days like my other kitten, but right now she's very friendly, purring up a storm, and absolutely scarfing down food.
.... I don't think I can feasibly keep her. Three cats in a tiny apartment is a lot, and I'd been considering moving soon. But I'll talk to the local animal shelter about a future surrender and will hold onto her for now. I'm hoping she checks out medically, because she'd be a great playmate for my other kitten.
My adult cat will occasionally chomp some grass while on walks, so I figured I'd give the kitten a handful, which she was very happy to chew on.
Time and time again, I see complaints about how older road bikes had poor hill gearing and could only fit smaller tires, up to 25mm at most in some instances.
And yet, older cyclocross bikes usually have wider gearing than contemporary road bikes, and have room to fit at least 32mm tires. I think they even tend to have similar geometry to road bikes, but please correct me if I'm wrong. So why aren't they more sought-after? Why are they almost never recommended?
It seems that those who desire a road bike with wider tires, but can't afford new, would be well served by buying a CX bike and fitting some supple road tires. And it seems that those who desire a gravel bike but can't afford new, would have their needs 90% met by buying an old $300 CX bike and fitting the largest knobby tires they can.
Of course I can see some potential downsides; CX often see significant abuse, they can't fit super large 40+mm tires like modern gravel bikes, and for road use they'll be a little heavier/overbuilt versus a road bike, as well as usually being less focused on aero. Otherwise they seem like a pretty decent jack-of-all-trades, no?
A couple weeks ago I rescued this little kitten off the side of the highway after she ran in front of my car and nearly got flattened. She was tiny, probably around 6 weeks old according to the vet
Her name still might change, I'm undecided, but when I first picked her up I said "Wow you're lucky, you were almost as flat as a pancake!" And "pancake" has sorta stuck. [Here's a video](https://www.reddit.com/r/CatDistributionSystem/s/MFTClzzeWp) of her yelling at me for almost hitting her.
I do have a larger, adult cat- but the adult only wants to wrestle with her, and very roughly, so I'm keeping them separate for now, with occasional interaction like eating meals next to each other.
I was working about a mile from home, and stopped in to use the restroom....
But my new kitten has crawled up onto my shoulder and I don't think I can move!
Mira needed a walk, and I'm trying to get little Pancake used to the backpack. Figured I kill two birds and give Mira a chance to show the kitten how it's done!
Video example of my adult cat "playing" with my kitten. At first it seems decent, the adult tussles for short intervals and then backs off to evaluate. Towards the end, she gets quite violent, though, with bunny kicks and the kitten screaming, and I separate them.
I've got a larger gate now to keep them separate, but am curious if simple separation until the kitten is larger is the answer, or if the adult can be trained to be gentle? I admit I don't have much in the adult not being an asshole, so will likely just keep them separate.
I recently adopted a tiny kitten, around 7 weeks old, and have been keeping her locked in my bathroom away from the adult cat. I've had the kitten for about a week and a half.
There was some hissing and growling on both sides of the door for the first couple days, but ut quickly subsided. I'd planned to keep them separate for longer, but there were a few instances where the kitten bolted out of the door and ran right up to the adult, so in those instances I just let them sniff each other. They were OK together in those situations, some hisses and fear at first, but then there was no more fear between them. However, the adult cat has taken to very roughly playing with the kitten, she treats her more like a toy or prey item than a fellow cat. I've broken up any interaction that got too rough, and attempted to keep the kitten separated when I was at work.
But the kitten has occasionally escaped her room, and now, I thought I had a decent setup with a baby gate stacked on top of another baby gate, but the adult has still managed to jump the fence and antagonize my kitten. I did just receive an even taller gate with thinner bars, so I plan to I install that. But I'm curious if there's a way I can teach the adult to be gentler, or if I just need to keep them separate until kitten can somewhat defend herself?
Poor baby was very nearly flattened! (Hence the somewhat morbid name.) Her favorite thing to do is climb up me like a ladder and roll around, headbutt, and make biscuits on my face.
I just rescued this little baby off the side of a highway, I was told she might fit in here? Of course she doesn't have any breed documentation and I have no idea what her parents looked like, so I suppose she's just a "domestic short hair," technically.
Will her coat change over time? Will she keep her pretty blue eyes?
