What is the main reason for lacking clarity?

So I am recording some fuzzy stoner stuff. I have to do everything alone for now, but I will get a drummer and a singer once my tracks are done. Compared to last year, I am starting to get satisfied with my mixes. But still after switching from professional songs to mine, I notice this kind of low-fi sound and muffled tone on mine.

Here is an example of a WIP track (still with placeholder drums): \[Google Drive\](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nOfSLef28GdDI-3Sr7dCsOWG4HRXIX-l/view?usp=drivesdk)

Does anyone else like the LH-150 pickups?

I have an EC201-ft and I have done some pickup swapping, but I came back to the stock ones because for some reason I really like them for metal. I never keep stock pickups on any guitar.

They are quite violent sounding, have nice throaty mids that push through the mix and a nice "grindy" sound to them that can be tamed/increased with presence and high controls on amp.

Need cheap bass recommendations!

So I am a guitarist of ~6 years and I have been making music for 4 years. I have faked the bass with a pitch shifter and all that shit but now it is time to get a real bass.

I need a bass that I can play and record with. That's all. I will not be playing it outside recording sessions. My genre is stoner rock/doom metal. Are the Harley Benton cheapest ones any good for my use case? And what string gauges for D standard?

What am I not getting?

EDIT: I see it now. I got to Chronos and the run after that I melted third boss with sister blades.

I have 200+ hours in Hades 1 and I loved toying with different builds and synergies. My personal best is 10 minute clear with the bow.

However, I can't get past the third boss in Hades 2. 20 something runs in. The damage is just not there. I can't make a poseidon + zeus lightning bolt & splash bs build in Hades 2 apparently which was a no brainer in 1. There isn't a boon list per god so I can't plan ahead. I use cast to get the enemies to stay in place, but daggers don't do damage or are too small AOE in third area. Staff has the easy omega attack but nothing seems to give me damage. Axe leaves me too vulnerable. What am I missing?

Your favorite non-trilogy Darkthrone riff?

It is my most listened to band. It is very difficult to pick a favorite riff since every album has bangers but here are my absolute favorites

- Norway in September (you know the riff)

- Howling primitive colonies chorus riff

- Come warfare, the entire doom (halfway riff)

Update: got the ec201-ft today

The first fret buzzed so hard that the note didn't ring and it was unplayable. I checked the relief and the neck was dead straight. 1/4th of a turn fixed that. Other than that, the setup was perfect from the factory. ~1.5mm action and no issues.

The humbucker is sizzling and quite compressed, reminds me of emg 81 somehow. It is also quite nasal/honky so I might change it later but it pushes through the mix very well.

A known issue/design flaw with these is that the strings touch the back of the bridge due to the through body holes being too close to it. No buzz/ringing so no worries.

My first thought was that damn this is a fast guitar. And quite light. Very well worth it for 299€, I am very happy.

Does anyone have any experience with the ec201-ft?

I was GASing hard and saw that deal on Thomann and instantly grabbed it. Might arrive today. NGDs are the longest work days ever.

Bridge or neck pickup for doom?

Which one should I use for recording? I have Warman Destroyer neck and Black Winter bridge in D standard. More leaning towards stoner stuff.

Sideways neck bow even possible?

I have this guitar I sighted and it seems there might be a bit of bow sideways first when neck heel ends and to different direction nearer the headstock. Doesn't affect anything and I am not sure if it is an illusion but I can overthink these things a lot. Any way to measure it to get calm? I am not talking about twisting but rather a small turn maybe. Relief looks normal on both e strings and margin from fretboard edge to string is good.

I need semi-melodic swedish death metal!

Bands like Dismember, Hypocrisy, LIK, Grand Cadaver, Darkened, Edge of sanity... Where it is not full on melodic all the time but the chorus or outro has some good sounding melodies. Preferably hm2 tone. I never got into the Gothenburg sound where it is all melody zero aggression.

Can't decide for the life of me

So I have a nicely (naturally) worn JS32 Kelly black satin in which I have upgraded everything. Pickups are Black Winter and Warman Destroyer in neck. I will also have a LTD ec256 soon. I can't decide which one goes to D standard for recording fuzzy stoner songs and playing along to some Spiritus Mortis, Orange Goblin, Sodom, Kreator and which one goes to E for playing along to Darkthrone, Coffin Storm, Sabbath, Witchcraft...

The ltd would fit the stoner metal aesthetic better but it is stock and I don't know that many bands in D it wouldn't probably get that much play time. On the other hand the Kelly is fully set up and trimmed and recording ready.

I know nobody can decide for me, but maybe this can spark a discussion.

Those who have the Harley Benton SC custom iii, how does it compare to a LTD ec256?

I am GASing hard for an LTD ec256 at the moment but can't find any used at the moment where I live. Are the HB equivalents any good or should I just pay 495 € for a new LTD?

How to stop overthinking and just live?

Long story short, my mind is always racing and repeating something. If I am happy and waiting for something, I am repeatedly thinking about future events and how they will span out and prepare for everything even though things never go as you think.

When I am anxious or sad my brain must find something from the past and make me believe I am the worst person ever.

I always have some sort of crisis kind of going on that I must "resolve" by thinking it through, I never find the answer and I must think it through again. Exhausting.

I have found that alcohol quiets my brain, and the next week is full of rumination and anxiety about what I did while drunk.

After 11 years of daily usage, 75 hours cold turkey and I am losing it

I started with cigarettes as a 13 yr old boy but used snus and nicotine pouches (~11mg) a can a day for most of that time.

I got too drunk and at the start of the hangover for the first time ever I got the feeling of "what if I quit nicotine right now and never used it again, that would be hell". It was a fun thing to declare but not a fun thing to experience.

I feel like I am sick: brain fog, fatigue, vision problems, headache, muscle twitches right when I am about to fall asleep, horrible nightmares, anxiety, depression... And now I am at the bargaining phase. Nicotine is the thing that would make me feel normal and take all my problems away and some people say they never returned to normal or it took months/years. I am starting to feel like this isn't worth it anymore.
