Mia Wasikowska, Catherine Deneuve, Rupert Friend in 2026 Venice Days

>My Notes on Mars from Hungarian director Lili Horvát (Preparations to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time [TIFF2020 CWC]) will open Venice Days, screening in competition. Horvát’s English-language debut stars Mackenzie Davis and Rupert Friend [originally casted with Greta Lee and Andrew Scott] in the story of a young scientist who mysteriously disappears only to show up weeks later at her own memorial service with no memory of what happened.

Kuba Dorabialski’s Agata the Writer, starring Mia Wasikowska as an Australian author in Sarajevo, will also premiere in competition

Léa Domenach’s Man’s Skin, a queer feminist musical comedy set in the Italian Renaissance and featuring Catherine Deneuve, will close Venice Days, screening out of competition. [2020's Venice Days closer was Bruce Campbell's Saint-Narcisse, TIFF2020 Industry Selects]

Danny Boyle's 'Ink' Sells to Netflix in First Big Sale Ahead of Venice

>Netflix acquired the North American and Latin American rights to the film, an individual with knowledge of the deal told IndieWire, while Studiocanal produced and is handling a number of international territories. It isn’t often Netflix doesn’t buy global rights, so they must’ve seen something special in this one.
“Ink” marks the first time Boyle is taking a film to Venice, and it will play in competition on September 2, with the festival running through September 12.
The full Venice lineup will be announced next week, and we expect this won’t be the last splash Netflix makes among the fall festivals this year.
