Why are people on the flixbus so antisocial?

I tried to talk to the person next to me during the whole ride (travelling is about meeting new people 😁). At first he responded but didn’t show much interest and after a while he literally started to ignore me, why does this always happen? It happened many times

Is it rude to watch tiktoks without headphones on Flixbus?

I had a discussion with someone on my bus today. I was watching TikToks on my phone without headphones and she asked me to stop. Hell no!
I understand if it was during the night, but it was daytime. Also FlixBus is public transport, not a library. There were already people talking etc.
I feel like people nowadays expect complete silence everywhere. How would you react if you were me?

Do I really need to shower in hostels?

I’m travelling and some days I just don’t feel like showering, even if I know I probably smell a little bit.

A girl in my dorm told me there was a smell coming from my bed area and called me out for it.
My first reaction was: isn’t my personal hygiene my own responsibility? If I’m okay with smelling a bit, why should strangers get a say in it? That’s rude

So what’s the actual hostel etiquette here? Is it considered rude to not shower when you know you smell, or is it just part of sharing a dorm with random travellers?

Why do some people ignore a simple “hi” in hostel dorms?

Am I the only one who thinks it’s REALLY rude when you say ‘hi’ after entering a hostel dorm and someone just completely ignores you?

Why do people act like watching TikToks in a hostel dorm is rude?

Last night I had an argument with a girl in my hostel because I was watching TikToks without headphones. She got upset and told me it was really inconsiderate. I always do it and I don’t have headphones. It’s 2026, tiktok exists

Why are there so many street prostitutes in central Genoa?

Hi! I’m visiting Genoa and I’ve noticed there are a lot of street prostitutes in the city centre, even during the day. I’ve travelled a lot around Europe, but I haven’t seen it this openly very often (usually in some area’s outside of the centre)

No hate, I’m from Amsterdam, so I’m used to prostitution. I’m just curious. I also noticed the police don’t seem to intervene. Is there a reason for this?

Why do people think rinsing cutlery with water is disgusting?

I never really use dish soap at home for cutlery, I just rinse it with water. Today someone in a hostel told me I should wash it with soap (she was annoying). Why is everyone so grossed out by this?

Are some of you guys both Hindu and Buddhist at the same time?

I know some people are mainly Hindu or mainly Buddhist while also incorporating some elements of the other tradition. But are there people who genuinely see themselves as 50/50 both?

Do you think Nepal is the most spiritual country in the world?

I visited Nepal about a year ago and I really loved it, because I was fascinated by how spirituality seems to be part of everyday life. What impressed me most was how naturally Hinduism and Buddhism blend together, with many people embracing both traditions.

India might be more spiritual overall because of its size and diversity, but Nepal sometimes feels even more spiritual to me because religion seems so deeply woven into everyday life. What do you think?

Is Catania worth visiting, if I love Palermo and Napoli?

Heyy, I really enjoyed Palermo and Naples because I love the raw, chaotic, authentic Italian city vibe. Is Catania worth visiting for the same reason? What are the main things to see/do there?

Is Brazil really a queer walhalla?

I’m from Amsterdam and visiting Brazil soon. I keep hearing that places like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro take queer nightlife and culture to an entirely different level with even gay beaches. It makes me very excited to imagine what it would be like to experience that energy firsthand and see whether Brazil really lives up to being more vibrant and free than what I’m used to at home. How is Brazil for queers?

Is Blumenau worth visiting?

Is Blumenau worth visiting?

I’m interested in unusual cultural regions within countries, and Blumenau’s German-Brazilian identity sounds fascinating to me. I’m not really looking for tourist hotspots, more for unique atmospheres and local culture. Does Blumenau actually feel distinct? And worth visiting?

Why does Rio invest so much in mega concerts instead of public safety?

I don’t mean this in a disrespectful or judgmental way, i’m from the Netherlands, so I’m also less familiar with the reality of Rio and Brazil. But I was wondering: since soo many tourists are still afraid to visit Rio because of safety concerns, wouldn’t larger investments in public safety make the city even more attractive, richer, and stronger for tourism in the long term than expensive beach concerts with international stars?

I’m more into everyday urban life than typical tourist highlights or nature-focused itineraries. Street life, markets, local neighborhoods, trashy nightlife. I really enjoyed cities like Bogotá and Mexico City for that kind of energy.
