Why is she in EVERY Duo match?

Why is she in EVERY Duo match?

I might be being dramatic. But I took a break of like a year and a half from this game. Duos is my favorite mode but Ann is one of my least favorite hunters. I hate her walk and look, just everything about her. But it feels like she's chosen in every Duo match I play now.

I never saw her this much in the past. And I feel like I never see Bloody Queen when I used to see her so regularly in matches. Did she get nerfed?

Anyone have "fun" camping-related moments?

I feel like the sprite aspect leads to lots of camping.

Here's two of mine. Both happened at the same extraction site oddly enough lol

I suck with location names. But it's the one down from the theme park. The one that's near the power station and by a house that has a vault in the basement.

 1. I was looting a chest in one of those wooden sheds by the site. I see a person, wearing the bush armor, come down to the site and park himself next to the extraction site. He didn't notice me in the shed and I killed him. He had multiple bushes in his inventory when he burst. So he was obviously camping sites as a bush to get sprites lol

 2. This happened just now. I feel a mixture of wanting to rage but am laughing about it lol. I come to the site to buy a portable extractor. I notice a gummy aura sprite by itself. I go to pick it up.....I suddenly get melted by a legendary SMG. The person was crouched behind a near-by tree. And as I spectated him, he legit picked up my loot and dropped it off so it wasn't near the spot anymore. Then he positioned the aura sprite again and crouched back down behind the tree to wait. 🤣

Have sprites caused you to be petty to your squadmates yet?

Had my moment during the evening Galaxy Power Hour. I didn't get one Galaxy. So one of my squadmates dropped one for me to have. Before I could grab it, another squadmate snatched it up and extracted it right away.

We are friends, on mic, and not fills. But I do get petty with stuff like that behavior~ so despite us having crowns and it being endgame, I shockwaved myself to the storm and went AFK~ 🤣 And it ended up coming down to the Sprite Thief being the last on our team against two full squads. He did not clutch lol.

Was it immature to get petty over a seasonal mechanic that doesn't matter and will be gone for good at season's end? Completely. But it was satisfying costing our squad a crown royale~ lol. I did say "so what did we learn?" When we got back into lobby. 💁🏾‍♂️

Is there any point to trying to escalate this?

At my store, for supervisors you have:

 1. Store Director

 2. Store Manager

 3. Zone Leads

Those positions are supposed to have 2 closing shifts a week. But, as a Zone Lead, I'm usually working 4 because a couple Zone Leads, plus the Director and Manager just don't want to do more than 1 closing a week. So me and one other Zone Lead get the bulk of closings. The other one prefers closing so he has no issue doing 5 a week. But it frustrates me.

At this point, it feels like the only way would be to go to corporate about it. But I feel like since the Director and Manager take part, it's pointless. Because my retail experiences with corporate's involvement always seem to be corporate going "eh, whatever the director/manager wants to do at their discretion. That's our decision'. "

An example (from a past job at a different retail company) : An assistant manager purposely threw a piece of shelving at an employee. With witnesses. The employee contacted corporate about it and corporate said it was up to the Store Manager. That Store Manager didn't even write up the Assistant Manager.

LOK's Bumi would make for a good prequel novel.

I hope we get a novel or even a comic like Kya is getting.

You have the first child of The Avatar and Most Respected Waterbender....and he ends up being born as a non-bender?. The emotional struggle that would be on him as he grows up would be such a fulfilling read. Plus it would give us more of adult Sokka. Because you know Sokka would be such a hands-on Uncle with a nephew who was a non-bender like him.

Also it would offer a fresh take to have a novel set in the ATLA universe but the main character is not a bender and having to deal with benders in whatever dramatic tension happens in the plot.

Are trailers picked by the studios or just random?

The reason I am asking is because I wanted to see Leviticus. The trailer has been playing ahead of most of the movies I've seen at my local Cinemark.

Whelp, the movie came out last week and my theater didn't get it. Like why promote it ahead of multiple movies and then the location promoting it doesn't even get one showing? 🫠😅

"the sign said ALL patio cushions are half-off! 😡"

No. No. It did not. They need to take 5 extra seconds to actually read the sign before waddling up to registers to scream. The sign even has little colored squares to show them which ones are the ones on sale. 🫠 And that it's a BOGO 50, not all cushions are half-off.

Is Mariah "wrong" for keeping her nodules?

I am assuming there are lambs who have some knowledge of singing and vocal chords. I don't so I just genuinely am curious.

We all know she has said she kept her nodules. I think she worded it as she taught her self to "sing around them" because they help her with her whistle notes.

I put wrong in quotations because obviously it's her own choice to do what she wants with her voice and her comfort. But anytime I think about it, I always think of how any time a singer gets nodules, you always hear that they go and get them removed. I don't think, other than Mariah, I've heard a singer say they keep their nodules because it helps them.

But if she did get them removed, would her voice be less....fragile? I don't mean her ability to hit whistle notes or not, I just mean in general. Would her modern voice be more stable if she had gotten them removed when younger? Or would her type of voice still have been fragile no matter what due to just aging and how much recording she did in the past 30+ years?

Does Cinemark have any partnerships for tickets?

I wasn't sure how to word it so I apologize if the title is clunky.

But an example is this:

I am a member of A24's fanclub. One of their perks is that they send out a free ticket to their movies to their members. It's always for AMC and Regal, never Cinemark.

So does Cinemark do anything like that with any studios/production companies?

What are some job suggestions in the area that don't require a degree?

I currently live in Monroeville and make $17 per hour. It's becoming a struggle. I can't drive so I am limited by walking distance or the bus. I would have no problem taking the bus to the city itself for work if the pay was worth it. It's an hour bus ride to downtown, for example, but I like reading on the bus so bus rides always go fast for me.

But whenever I look online, it feels like the non-degree jobs in the city pay less than $17. I would have thought that looking actually in the city itself would open up job opportunities that pay more than Monroeville offers. But it seems to be the opposite. And then I even see ones that pay less than $17 but require degrees. it boggles my mind. 😅

I feel like retail is keeping me from a personal life

I live alone, first off. But I never get to see my friends or family because of my schedule.

Noone else in my family or friend group work retail. They all have set schedules that let them have plans together, etc.

But I never get to take parts. Between clopen shifts and not being allowed to request off for Holidays, I go months without seeing friends or family members. All of whom are able to see each other regularly due to the ease of their schedules. And with holidays, my managers have written in the PTO book that no time off requests will be honored on any weeks that have a holiday in it (I've noticed that rule doesn't seem to apply to them, of course. 🙄 Their " sabbaticals" seem to always fall on holiday weeks~)

I have even been starting to date someone these past couple of months. But it's hard planning dates because of my schedule is all over the place. So I'm already preparing myself for this person to say he feels it isn't working out. 🫠 Because we have only been able to have 2 dates in the span of a couple of months. We do have texts and phone calls...but for a beginning relationship, I feel like in-person dates are needed to get a sense if you actually like spending time together.

And I can't even maintain off the clock friendships with co-workers. Because I am 38....my co-workers are either 55+ or 18-20 years old.

I can't ask for a set schedule because I am a dept supervisor. And I don't wanna lose the full-time hours the position provides because then I drop down several dollars per hour and would be lucky if I got 25 hours a week.

I just feel so stuck and feel myself spiraling into low moods all the time because it's like this thankless deadend job requires me to give up so much social interaction with people who aren't co-workers or entitled customers

The fees for using return delivery

Is this a new thing? Usually I return at The UPS store beside my job because it's easiest. But now they charge me $1 for doing it. It has been free for years. They only give the free option to a local grocery store that is on the other side of town that I'm never in or a Whole Foods that's in another town.

But The UPS Store that is half a mile from my home now requires a dollar. 🫠

It is only $1 so I'll still do it at The UPS Store because the transportation costs to get to the "free" options will cost me more 🤣

Are we stuck with subpar CGI in most big budget films?

I just got out of Disclosure Day. And I went in expecting great CGI due to Spielberg and a $115 million production budget.

But the >!Greys and the animals looked like early-2000s CGI at best!<. There was a part where I was immersed in the movie....and then immediately fell out of immersion due to them >!reacting to a bad CGI fox that didn't even look properly mixed into the scene. !<

Like I know not every director and studio is going to be hyper focused on computer effects to that James Cameron is. But it's getting to the point where I will gladly put up with him rehashing Avatar over and over simply because I can watch those movies and not be taken out by the thought of "how is this $100+ million budget movie out here in 2026 with computer effects that look 20 years out of date?"

I remember a few years ago that there was discussion that Disney was overworking effects studios with unreasonable deadlines for the MCU movies. Is that just the normal now for big budget movies in general?

Entitled elderly people suck

A customer stopped me as I was bringing in shopping carts. It was an elderly woman and then a guy in his 30's. She said he was her neighbor; I guess he drove her from what I can gather. I just know she had a scowl on her face from the start while he seemed almost scared. 😅

Anyways.

She wanted patio furniture covers. Easy enough. I take them to the location. We had one of the ones she wanted but not a couch cover.

Her exact words: "well, you need to order this one for me."

Me: "Our registers can't create online orders."

Her Neighbor: "Alice, it's okay, I can order them for you with my phone".

Her to me " That phone in your hand can make my order! I know it! You just don't want to!".

Me: "My scanner can't create online orders. It can only process ones sent into our system."

Her neighbor: "Alice, I promise it's fine."

Then she still went on for several more minutes before he was finally able to get her to leave.

I felt so bad for her neighbor. He's probably never gonna offer to help her again lol. He even kept giving me apologetic looks.

Company cheapness strikes again

Putting out curtains we got in. They changed the packaging to this. Look how thin the hanging hook is For a TWO PANEL zipped up plastic packaged set. It's so heavy that the hooks bend from the weight and they fall right off the hook. You can see in the picture how the hook is warping from the weight

Should I keep pushing through King Sorrow?

According to my Kindle, I am 55% of the way through it.

I was really liking it. But now it feels like a slog. I am at the part where >!Donna and Van are being held captive. Donna just bit off the guy's ear. I just lost interest the second it switched to "the government wants to find a way to utilize King Sorrow" path. !<

I feel like I'm approaching burn-out

I am a 38 year old male. I am a zone lead.

Right now, both my departments have markdowns that need done. My Store Director has been nagging me about how "they need to be done this week!" But him and the other leads all ignore the cashier's calls for manager assistance so I have to run up there every 5 minutes. And the majority of the time when I do that, I see the other leads right outside the front window puffing away on vapes and cigs while ignoring their walkies going off with the register assistance calls. I also have to cover the cashier's break or if they need a bathroom break.

The other leads also ignore the customer assistance buttons going off on the floor as well. And if I try waiting a few seconds to see if someone claims it, someone will walkie "*insert my name*, go get that call."

And I am the only guy on the floor so any customer that needs an item lifted or loaded into their car? Me. A cart run to bring carts in? Me. Today I am 10-6 and my director told me that I can't take my break until 4pm because that's when the next male employee comes in. Apparently my 48 year old male director thinks he's above covering a 30 minute break so I can get my lunch in earlier than 2 hours before shift end.

And cannot forget being bitched at because I suck at getting membership sign-ups~

*Repost because it didn't show my text in my original post and wouldn't let me edit it 🫠*

Dark mode not staying on?

Was there some update that glitched it out? It's annoying me because I hate regular mode. It's way too bright for my eyes lol. The issue only started happening today. I keep switching it back on because it keeps auto-shutting off.

I have a pixel 8a

Why are people more judgemental of singers' voices aging?

Is it due to YouTube and videos that make things so easy to rewatch?

An example I'll give.

Mariah. She's almost 60. And it feels like every time there's any new song or performance, the comments about her voice are always "it's sad she can't sing like she used to." Maybe her being stiff/less confident on stage makes people notice her voice's changes more? Is it because her vocals prime was so magnificent that it's just inevitable people would remark on it aging? Because people even remark about her studio vocals aging.

To compare, I'll use Aretha. Mariah is 57. Aretha was 57 back in 1999. I went and looked up some performances from around that time. It seems like Aretha's voice was a shrill raspy, out of breath, instrument at that time. But the comments tend to be more positive without outright commenting on her voice not being what it was like at its peak. Is it due to online videos not being an everyday thing back then? But even in studio vocals, she had that stark contrast. Is it because Aretha was always able to command a stage with confidence even if her voice had changed?

It's just something I'm curious about lol.

No, I won't place your online order for you.

I'll direct you to the website or the app where you can place the order yourself. Our registers can't create online orders. Neither can the Zebras. I'm not going to take time away on a holiday weekend to take your phone and place an online order for you.

Maybe if it's an elderly customer who obviously is genuinely confused. But not someone around my age (I am 38) or younger who has no issues ordering from Amazon, TikTok shop, shein or wherever.

Like I am seriously the only guy on the floor right now. So I am the only one who can lift and load all the patio furniture people keep screaming that they "need right now. My party is tomorrow." (I guess it's our fault they wanted to strut in to buy it the day before the holiday~)
