Long time center-left, but finally banned from r/nyc
For everybody who says r/nyc is a MAGA stronghold, let me give a counterpoint. There was a recent post where the poster was asking what to do about ICE coming to his house. He was renting his basement to some illegal aliens, and wanted advice on what to protect them and get ICE to leave them alone.
While I used to be very open borders, I feel it has been abused to such as extent, that I now basically want everybody here illegally gone so we can reset and figure out how to create a new immigration regime that works for Americans first, including immigrants that came here legally and with to assimilate with our culture and laws.
I feel these protecting illegals are putting everybody at risk by forcing ICE officers to have public arrests that often have unnecessary casualties. So I made a comment, that was upvoted, and I was banned pretty quickly for "intolerance, dog whistles, violence or petty behavior."
> Do your fucking duty as an american citizen and help keep thia country for Americans and immigrants who respect our borders. > > People like you are the rw reason Americans have been injured and killed because you make ICE's job more difficult than it needs to be and making then detain illegals in street chases. > > You create the situation you claim to hate but rhe truth is many like you want these arrests to go badly. You are willing to sacrifice american lives ro protect illegals so you can use them as martyrs > > Traitor.
A little harsh maybe, but I'm sick of people placing everybody over Americans, then complaining about all the problems it causes (higher prices, crime, drug trafficking, etc.)
I'm not asking people to go out of their way to turn people in to ICE, but if they show up at your door, don't make the job any harder than it needs to be.
I am now permanently banned. I've seen far worse that this in r/nyc.
The Battle Of Brooklyn.
This past week I attended the 250th anniversary of The Battle Of Brooklyn reenactment. It was the first major battle of the American Revolution War which took place in what is now Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The British ended up winning making George Washington and his Troops retreat to the East River and cross over to what is now Manhattan.

effort.newsWho do I contact about a wild turkey in Battery Park?
There is a wild turkey in Battery Park in the bushes directly south of Seaglass Carousel. It appears to be hiding. Several people have chased it/tried to hit it. Is there someone I can call to ensure it is safe? Lived here all my life, never seen a wild turkey in Manhattan.
Mayor Mamdani speaks Mandarin to promote 2,000+ free Broadway tickets for NYC high schoolers. He called it "justice for the theatre kids". The tickets cover 7 shows...and the mayor learned a new language to get the word out.
Missing Data?
It looks like my account might have been rolled back a few months. I'm missing an entire project I created about a month ago, and I'm missing many of the modification I had made in another account. Has anybody seen something similar?
I messaged customer service already to ask what happened.
Where are the best spots in NYC to hear children crying and their parents at wits end?
Looking for a place where kids and parents go where kids don't get what they want or are having "a day" and they wail and beg. Bonus points if the parents are fuming and seconds away from packing it all up and taking everyone home.
This is for a small local research project. No persons will be approached or questioned, it's for observatory purposes only. Thanks!
Bachelor Party Photographer/Videographer

How am i supposed to know who I should vote for?
It’s that time of year where I’m getting a bunch of fliers in my mail for candidates.
What is a good way to find out who I can vote for and their policies and if they’re current politicians what they have done or voted for in the past?
Basically I want to know who is available on the ballot when I go in, and only facts about them without the marketing.
Looking for advice or resources that is not the candidates personal website.
