Does rover not tell you the total before sending a message?

Had someone message me and we had a meet and greet set up for next week.

She then said she wasn't sure if she could afford it and didn't understand the extra cost because it's just a cat and 2 dogs , plus not like the dogs need to be walked separately .

I didn't really say much because realistically, I'm the cheapest female sitter in the area. ( only reason I say that is because most dogs I watch don't like men lol). So unless she finds someone to watch them for free, idk who else she can find cheaper than me. I'm the cheapest purely bc I'm still new to rover🤷‍♀️

I was going to give her a small discount because she's close to my job but I'm honestly not sure because both her dogs are high energy so idk if it's worth my time to give her a discount.

I'm so annoyed now because this happens a lot and my acceptance rate is at 50% now. People either say stuff like this or stop responding all together ( I respond straight away , my response time is less than 10 mins)

Finished my allergy tests and I'm terrified

So I had my very first allergic reaction in mid July to strawberry ( throat started closing)

As of now, the only foods I've had similar reactions to are cucumber, strawberry and oranges.

After having my first allergic reaction, I decided to schedule an appt with an allergist to make sure what I had was an allergic reaction.

Well I had my food allergy test and enviromental.

Everything in yellow / anything 2+ is something I reacted to in the test. For the next 2 weeks I have to take all of these foods out of my diet and then introduce them back in again to see what is causing my symptoms ( nausea, vomiting etc)

Here's the problem, I'm vegetarian and have never eaten meat. I tried pork and fish and I just don't like it. I hate how it tastes

Im so terrified of this possible future where everything I loved, now can no longer eat. I'm in my mid 20s, I'm so confused how this can just happen

I legit had oranges on the 30th of August and didn't have a reaction and on Thursday I had a reaction to it. I'm legit so confused by all of this.

Sorry for the rant. This is all new to me.

I'm not sure what to expect as no one in my family has allergies. Any tips would be great, I live in the US where everything has corn too😭

Should i become dog training certified?

I've trained a few family dogs in the past and would love to become certified to do it on the app. Has anyone had many customers from the app?

Curious if it's worth it.

Got my first review but it's a 3 star review and also doesn't show up on my account

So i'm a little confused

Finally got my first rover review. It's not on my account at all. When I look at my reviews I just see the reviews from people who reviewed me previously when i set up my account and sent them my link.

Does that mean they just gave me a star rating and left it at that? Idk who gave me this rating either, I'm so sad :(

Do drop ins for dogs include dog walking?

Got a drop in request to feed the two dogs and walk them. It's 20$ per dog, each day.

Is that an ok price? Should I charge extra since I'm also walking them.

Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm still new to rover itself and I don't want to under charge myself.

One of the dogs is an Australian Shepard which makes me a little concerned because they're such high energy dogs.

Do you just assume you can cook when house sitting?

I'm at my third house sitting gig rn and at my last ones they said I could use everything but the client i'm watching for now never said anything 😭

Sorry if this is silly, I'm just hungry and anxious lol.

I think i lost insurance coverage??

I think i lost my health insurance coverage?? I was on leave from october ish til a month ago ( july) and Im trying to sign up for benefits but I don't see it on my account anywhere. All i see is the option to sign up for cobra ( but when i click it, it doesn't give me any options )

this is my second time going on leave and last time i went on leave in november and came back in august and had no problems. I'm genuinely so confused, I will say i stopped getting paid a lot earlier this time so im not sure if they put me under a different kind of leave this time??? It was for the same reason too ( i reinjured myself lol)

Im so confused. I legit can't afford cobra too( i got a cobra package last time i was on leave( . wtf do i do. I have a rare condition so I literally need health insurance and my specialist doesn't take medicaid.

I don't remember getting anything in the mail too. I don't know what to do😭

Update on my liquid slop sourdough

So if you saw my last post

https://www.reddit.com/r/Sourdough/s/rFplBABKQm

I posted about how I was using King arthur bread flour for the first time after mainly using their all purpose flour for most of my loaves.

It turned to straight liquid so I added 60g extra of flour

( recipe is

  • 510g flour ( plus the 60g extra which makes it 570
  • 100g starter
  • 10g salt
  • 20g honey
  • 390g filtered water)

This is the recipe I used a lot and it always gave me beautiful loaves. In my post history I posted about some other loaves I made but those were from me testing a low hydration.

Well after adding the extra flour in the mixer and stretch and folds/ slap folds ( i added pimento olives and blue cheese [my dad requested this I hope it tastes good..] during the last set of stretch and folds bc I forgot to add it earlier lol) . I use the temp chart as a rough estimate and it says 14 hours ( dough was 68F , house is 70F)

I was at work so my dad couldn't get to it til 15 hours BF and it looked good so it went in the fridge. In this video it was in the fridge for almost 2 hours..

I'm going to bake it tonight so Let's see how it goes!

Sourdough is slop after mixing??

So this is the same recipe I use every time.

390g water 510 flour 10g salt 20g honey

I've done this recipe several times and it's given me great loaves. The only difference is I always used arthur red bag but decided to switch to blue bag to see the hype!!!

I'm not sure what to do. This is right after mixing it on my stand mixer for a few minutes. Which i have also done before and have gotten good loaves. I'm letting it rest for an hour and I'll see how it is, instead of stretch and folds I plan to do slap and folds to build more gluten.

should I add more flour?

Pretty sure my starter is a bit weak ?

So my normal every day starter started growing mold bc I forgot to put it back in the fridge, so i pulled some starter from my discard jar and started making bread as normal/ feeding it before I made bread etc. The last 2 loaves have been dense as hell.

If you look at my post history it'll show how this one looked after fermenting. I'm trying to strengthen my starter rn by feeding it every day and leaving it in the oven without the light on. I feed it a 1:2:2 every day and it still smells like nail polish after. I did a 1:4:4 today so hopefully that will help. Should I do something else

Here's the recipe for the pics above !

125g active starter 320g warm water 10g salt 20g honey 525g bread flour

Once I mixed the starter/water and salt together I started my timer. Kneaded in stand mixer for 10 minutes after mixing it together.

Let it rest an hour and started my stretch and folds every 30 mins. Transferred it to the plastic bowl and checked the temp, It was 74F. So i figured using the temp chart as a guide it should be ready in about 5.5 hours or so ( it had already been 2.5 hours and with a temp of 74F it said it would need 8 hours to ferment)

Well at midnight, the 5.5 timer went off, it didn't look fermented at all. It barely doubled so I was going to give it another hour. Well I accidentally slept through my alarms and woke up at 5:30am.... Thank god I forgot to turn off my work alarm or else it would have fermented until 11:30 am when I usually get up on my days off lol

At 5:30am I put it in the fridge and was planning to shape it when i woke up ( i work mornings so there was no way in hell I was going to wake up and do stuff this early on my day off) and then put it in the fridge longer after shaping!

Finally got my first pet sitting gig but they want me to board them in my house when I don't even have that as an option...

sorry for the long title but I finally got my first pet sitting gig today for a few weeks from now and they requested house sitting. I requested to do a meet and greet and they asked if I would be ok boarding at my house😭

I don't even have this as an option on my account because my parents dog has a bite history and my parents are allergic to cats so it just wouldn't be safe for my parents or the other dogs.

I hope they let me house sit because i don't want my account to be shown less because I denied this request.

If they do let me house sit, any tips? I plan to meal prep so I don't use any of their kitchen ware.

Got this piercing a week ago. Was told to take it out.

So i got this a week ago, and if you look at my post history you will see my navel piercing that was done by the same piercer. I posted it looking for advice but found out i dont have the anatomy ( realized i didn't get a floating navel like the piercer said)

Well i decided to get it checked out by a different piercer and he was shocked that she even did my navel and said I didn't even have the anatomy for a floating navel.

He said the industrial was done far too high and both jewelry is externally threaded and he thinks i might be having a slight allergic reaction to the metal.

I got it done 8 days ago and im still in a lot of pain. Like just touching my ear hurts a lot.

I had this weird piercing/ shooting pain going from my belly button piercing up my body.

Do i take both out? Even if i switch the navel to a floating?

i legit don't know what to do, how can i even try to get my money back😭 i spent 160$ on these 2 piercings so im so mad i wasted all this money.

u/kale_chipss — 3 months ago

was told this was a floating naval piercing? is it?

So I got what I thought was a floating naval piercing on the 28th. I'm about to book a jewelery change with a different piercing shop this week because I posted this in the piercing advice reddit page and 2 people said it would reject . Before i spent more money on new jewelery. Will it reject?

The second last pic is of me sitting with poor posture. The last pic is of me with better posture.

u/kale_chipss — 3 months ago

any tips to make sure it doesn't reject?

I go back to work in 2 weeks after being on med leave and decided to treat myself to my dream piercing.

I'm worried because I have to wear jeans at work (sbux barista). Anything I can do that prevents the jeans from causing any problems ? i got it done on the 28th!!

I've been wearing low rise jeans/ just pulling my pjs lower lol .

any tips in general would be great!!!

Accidently found my 'niche' during a singing lesson

So i've mainly only learned musical theatre since starting my singing lessons in february. I love musicals and want to start getting back into theatre.

Well today we were warming up and my teacher was going up the scale and he went higher than normal and I was able to reach the notes. He asked if that felt comfortable and it was! so he gave me more notes and I was able to sing them all for the most part.

He was then like omg do you like opera? I said I've always wanted to learn ( I have several opera singers in my family and I love hearing them sing). So we started with O mio babbino caro ( using Sarah Brighmans version) . I felt like it came to me a lot more natural than musical theatre has. My teacher said that i have found my niche because even my singing was a lot more supported when compared to how I sing musical theatre songs.

I don't want to be boxed into just opera singing though, that's my worry.

Has anyone else stumbled across a style of singing that just feels easier? Should i bury my dreams of trying to get more into musical theatre ?
