Flu season is probably winding down sa inyo but we're somehow still in it. LO got the flu again, and it's her second round in a row, like 1 day recovery lang then a new one came in.

Tbh the nebulizer treatments are what we dread most. The old non-portable Omron we had was too noisy so every session puksaan malala with LO. Kaya kumuha na rin kami ng portable and being this our first, we were pleasantly surprised how quiet portable ones are so it's been way less stressful for her (and for us) since.

Curious how everyone else's little ones are doig! Has anyone had the flu back to back like this? Yung una kasi low grade fever lang for a few days, then after 1 day of no fever with LO being active and happy again, nagkaroon naman ng ubo't sipon the day after so her pedia prescribed salbutamol na.

The advisory came out the night before. 8am to 6pm maintenance ng electric company. My shift starts at 8.

Kung WFH ka, alam mo na. Rarely does anyone at work accept "sorry, brownout kasi." As an email support, the tickets keep coming in. Handoff to the next agent on shift is still at the same hour whether or not your system has power. But it was the one excuse nobody could argue with, especually during typhoons, and if I'm honest, part of me looked forward to it. Ten hours where the work just stopped and nobody could reach me. It's almost like a guilty pleasure.

Last year, I bought a 1kWh power station off Lazada for around 7k. 250W lang, and I've been sharing it here sa mga naghahanap ng backup every now and then. It kept me online for a few hours running my desktop, gaming laptop, modem and router for atleast half of my entire shift, so there goes half the excuse.

Then Kristine hit. It kept our bare minimum essentials running for a 2 days before it died, and the power stayed out way longer than that. That's when I saw what I really had. It buys you time, that's all.

Around that time I started putting up solar at the house. No electrical background at all, YouTube lang lahat, one video at a time. I got a lot of it wrong before any of it worked. And the scheduled cuts aren't even the worst part here. Typhoons, downed posts, and one time may tuko daw na nakuryente resulting to barangay-wide outage.

What finally broke my setup was our own doing. We opened a computer shop and the aircon runs 24/7 now. My small solar setup helped, but our bill tripled in a few months.

Turns out what I built was enough for a house, not with a shop attached to it. So I signed a contract this week. 6kW, 16kWh hybrid, 300k all in. Found the installer on FB and, katabing bayan lang, which is either the smartest or the dumbest way to hire for a job this size. In any case, I am already pretty knowledgeable so I was able to make sure that everything is up to spec.

Once it's up, the lights stay on no matter what. walang adjustment sa normal usage namin, with ac and everyrhing, which is what I wanted. Pero sayang din. It's a bittersweet farewell. Those were the only 10 hours all year that nobody expected anything from me.
