Protest at P Terry's to stop DESTRUCTION

I'd like to know who is organizing a protest to stop the destruction of the historic P Perry's landmark that fills me with joy everytime I see it.

We can link arms and stop the bulldozers together! Unless you are autistic or sensitive to high stimulus environments, we can have a tent nearby where we will feel your aura.

Bring snacks (vegan options and nut allergy friendly ones 😛) and be on the right side of history!

What are your personal "give and takes" when it comes to where you live?

There's no such thing as a goldilocks place. There's always things that make a place less than perfect.

But what are you willing to sacrifice when a place checks your boxes?

COL? Career opportunity? Walkable area, sports teams, art scene, food scene? Climate?

For me, I'm a photographer and sports fan who hates major cities and loves main street towns. But that's where the work is and pro teams are. So i kinda accept that a few times a week, i gotta deal with about an hour commute for work to and from home.

Where to get involved in performing arts?

I'm curious where i can go to be a part of performing arts here. Acting, theater, filmmaking, photography etc.

I'm a part of several local FB groups, but all the post are the same "I'm a videographer, hire me for your project," or content creators, but I'm not seeing any artists actually doing art projects.

In other words, Austin has a reputation for being super artistic and creative, and indie diy film scene, and theater, but I'm having a hard time finding artists actually creating.

Daytime local hangs

Hey. I may be relocating to St Pete for a job in mental health. It'll be late afternoon/evening hours, which is great for me because i prefer doing stuff in the daytime. I'm almost 40 and don't do nightlife now.

I'll be visiting soon to scope out the neighborhoods.

But what areas should i look into that feels like a local community where i may see familiar faces at the coffee shop over time, walk/bike friendly etc? I tend to like having a little village i frequent. Ty

Edit: bonus if near Trop field cause im a huge baseball fan and will go to a lot of games.

Vegan poundcake?

Do any bakeries or places offer a vegan poundcake?

Figured I'd ask before destroying my kitchen trying to make it myself.

How far outside of Atlanta is too far to live for acting jobs and auditions?

I'm not a big city guy, but I've been doing acting and filmmaking for a few years in a small/mid market that's mainly commercial jobs. If I were to relocate to the Atlanta area (my agent has a presence there), how far outside the city would be considered TOO far. I'm looking at areas East of the city like Decatur, Covington because I like smaller artsy main street towns, and being close to the 20 looks like a good idea.

Ever get on a local background casting person's bad side?

I'm 95% sure I'm burned with one of these local casting people. Used to book with them a lot. Then they didn't pay me for several days and I began emailing and DMing them. They never responded.

They're one of these local non union casting people that post on Instagram about extras needed. So, idk how much this will impact me going forward or if it's just a one off and no one else will care.

Where can I go to not get robbed?!?!

As we all know, Austin is a city that is an AMAZING place to live. I love every minute of being here. I support all illegal immigrants and believe no one can commit crimes on stolen land.

I never leave my house. I doordash from local LGBT POC businesses. My kids want to go to Barton Springs to swim now that summer break from private school is on. Where can I park where my car will not be smashed into by an oppressed individual suffering from the socio economic woes of capitalism?

Should i roll the windows down on my Mercedes SUV and unlock my doors? I already have BLM, Kamala, and Hillary stickers to show that i am an ally.

Any info helpful! Keep ATX Weird! 😊😊😊

Agency applications are kinda funny sometimes

I just submitted to an agency and the uploads were: resume, 2 headshots, full demo reel, and self tape audition reel.

Normal, cool.

But it had to ALL BE UNDER 25MB

After squishing all the files, i hope they enjoy watching all my fuzzy pixels lol

Difficulty re-entering job field after caregiving and feeling guilty

I Posted here a few times over the years.

I was the solo caregiver for my dad. He had copd and he died last summer. Coming up on his angel day as we say in greif group.

Well, after he died i can't seem to get regular work.

I was working like 10 hrs a week at a substance use clinic while caregiving and they didn't want to hire me fulltime.

Now I have no income while i rebuild a counseling practice from zero.

I tried to get ft clinical work but never got an offer.

Now i feel guilty because what little money was left to me from dad is about 75% gone due to just life.

I feel shitty about that but also like, i did the right thing by taking care of him damn it. Why is it so hard stabilizing and rebuilding?

Doesn't help that I'm alone with no spouse or anything.

Feeling guilty and kinda hopeless right now

PT work while building my counseling practice

I'm curious about PT work while I build my caseload for my counseling practice.

The roles I'm seeing are counselor roles at hospitals and I don't want that because that effort needs to go to my caseload.

So what's out there for a MA in psych, 10 years experience, LPC. I'm trying to find clinical adjacent roles like intake admissions, UR, or assessments. But open to other options.

I also worked in pizza shops and i love that haha.

This 3 year old comment helped me make a baked potato in my air fryer tonight. Thought it might help someone else too.

Question for people age 30+. Have you ever relocated solo to a small/mid size place and loved it?

I love main street towns. And I'm pushing 40 so i don't care for major cities anymore. But i feel like i have to be in a city (like i am now) for work and dating (im single).

I don't work remote btw which can limit options.

Just curious if anyone here made a solo move to a smaller population place and loves it. Bonus if you knew absolutely no one there.
