Couldn’t pick, gotta buy a second helmet.

Thanks to you guys, I ordered both the Sena and Cardo systems. The proxy chat on Cardo was just too funny of an idea to pass up, it was also on sale for 25% off.
Thanks again everybody.

Sena or Cardo?

Hello everyone, I’m new to riding and picking up my new bike tomorrow! Super stoked. I’ve got all the proper, armoured gear. The only thing I’m stuck on is the comms system.
My brother uses a Shoei helmet with Sena comms system. I’ve looked at the Outrush 2 and am considering it. He’s the main person I’d be riding with.
But I do like the idea of an interchangeable system instead for various helmets.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Brand new 2025!

Just signed for this brand new 2025 R3. It will be my 2nd bike after owning a CBR125 when I was 16 (11 years ago).
I feel like a new rider all over again, and wanting some advice.
I am 5’3”, 125lbs and I’m wanting to lower it a smidge just so I’m not on tippy toes. Is it best to get this done through the dealer before I pick it up? (Pickup date later this month).
Also, any accessories I should look into? Phone mounts, theft protection, etc.
I did some reading and this popped up as one of the best for a shorter beginner like myself.
Thanks everyone.

Advice Happily Taken

Hello everyone. I appreciate how helpful this sub was for helping me pick out a sleeping mat that I could buy locally.
Looking to lighten our packs where possible and would love some advice or product swaps to do so.

I typically go with my partner, hence why the tent is /2. It was the only one available at the time besides a north face tent that was the same weight but $400 more.

My partner’s base bag is around the same weight but he is more of the food mule. He also hates mummy bags and the bag he has is the lightest square one I could find at the time. (He’s very wide at the shoulders)

I am fine with ordering online as our big trip isn’t until September.

I am F 5’3”, 125lbs. My partner is M 5’11” 220lbs. We are in Alberta, Canada. We have a pretty reasonable budget as we are both oil&gas workers.

Thanks so much again everyone!

Just over a week, feels like 30 minutes ago. My sweet Lily.

I lost my soul cat, Lilith, to pancreatitis at only age 4. I have been struggling in day-to-day life everyday for the past 8 days. I’m so used to her coming to bed and waking up with me, she’s not here anymore to do that. I find myself getting ready to do her insulin in the morning and evening, just to quickly realize she’s gone. I’ve not vacuumed nor wiped anything down since she passed and I’m told that I’m disgusting but I just can’t bring myself to do that yet. I feel like I am cleaning up pieces of her whenever I do have some effort to clean.
I am still full of regret with putting her to sleep and my brain is just full of the “what-if’s” of if I didn’t let her go that day.
She had diabetes, heart arrhythmia, tooth resorption and recurring random pancreatitis.

Does it ever get easier? I am back to work for 2 days today and yesterday and I cried multiple times in the work truck. I am slower at work because I need to take my time because I’ve been so distracted. I’m having so much trouble. I miss her.

New Sleeping Pad Recs?

Alberta, Canada

Hello everyone, my reliable Klymit sleeping pad gave out after 4 years of use. It is now leaking from the part that you inflate it at.
I bought a brand new Klymit, just to wake up on the ground in the morning. Leaking from the exact spot. Going through warranty with them for the new one for closer-to-home/overnight hikes, but not for my 3-4 cold nights in the mountains hikes as the brand is tarnished to me now.

I’d like to shop local (Sportchek or Canadian Tire Outdoor) and my seemingly best options are in the photos. I have an upcoming overnight hike on the 26th and would need it by then.

I eventually would like something from MEC but I like to shop in-store and the nearest one is 5 hours away.
Recs for a sleeping pad from MEC would also be appreciated for when I do eventually go to one.

I am F 5’3”, 125lb. Thanks so much everyone.

New Sleeping Pad/Mat

Hello everyone, my reliable Klymit sleeping pad gave out after 4 years of use. It is now leaking from the part that you inflate it at.
I bought a brand new Klymit, just to wake up on the ground in the morning. Leaking from the exact spot. Going through warranty with them for the new one for closer-to-home/overnight hikes, but not for my 3-4 nights in the mountains hikes.

I’d like to shop local, and my options are:

Sea to Summit Women's Ultralight
Insulated Sleeping Mat: 480g, 3.8R, $230.

Sea to Summit Ether Light XR
Regular Insulated Air Mat: 470g, 4.10R, $280.

Sea to Summit UltraLight Insulated
Mat: 480g, 3.1R, $250.

I’m willing to order from Amazon Canada if it can arrive before the 26th but I have a hike planned for that day and would like to have one before.
I’m limited to SportChek and Canadian Tire Outdoor for options :)

I am F 5’3”, 125lbs.

Thanks everyone.

Lost my soul cat.

I put my most precious, sweet girl to sleep and I am so broken and numb. I blame myself. I am so numb and I have no one to talk to who understands.

I lost my girl

My kitty girl, Lily, passed on 3 days ago and I am struggling. I am so so so full of regret of putting her to sleep and I am having trouble forgiving myself. I blame myself for everything and my only wish is to have her back.

Lily’s 4th birthday was supposed to be on July 9. She was so young.
Unfortunately in August of last year, Lily developed dental resorption and within that same appointment, was found to be diabetic. Less than 4 months later, she was admitted to an emergency clinic for 15 days for severe, necrotizing pancreatitis. She survived but not without permanent damage to her pancreas and a new heart arrhythmia. She was under oxygen due to the heart problem for a week as well.

We have since had extreme trouble regulating her blood sugar, presumably due to the pancreatic damage.

A few months passed since her clinic stay and she only again developed noticeable symptoms of pancreatitis on the afternoon of June 13. I called the emergency vet who confirmed the condition.
We made the choice to go through with euthanasia because of the current and recurring issues that she was dealing with.
We were actively feeding her a low fat, low carb diet due to her diabetes, but sometimes had to differ in wet foods because she was required to eat for insulin time.
I did not want her to go through the gruelling healing process of this condition again. She would’ve had to been on an IV, have a feeding tube, and likely be in an oxygen chamber. She barely made it last time and I did not want her to suffer with this condition again. There is no known cause and no cure for feline pancreatitis, and I am so broken.

I am so full of regret and misery. Immediately after she passed, I wish I hadn’t gone through with it. She was so young, and so sweet. I miss her so much. I don’t know what to do with myself. I work and live for her and my other two cats, and now we are all just so sad. I am so numb. Am I a bad person for putting her to sleep? Should I have tried again with her and treated it again? I am so lost.

Reasonable tip for weight of order?

Throwing a little bit of a last-minute housewarming for a coworker and his wife, and my partner and I have already had a few drinks, so no driving.

We had one driver call to say he doesn’t have enough room in his car and asked if we could eliminate an item, to which we said no.
Transferred to a new driver, who immediately messaged asking for more of a tip.
Hoping the next driver is a bit more reasonable.

Am I a poorly rated customer? I’m not sure why I get paired with some of the drivers that I get.

2 Beginners needing help

Hello everyone!

My partner (5’11”, 220lbs) and I (5’3”, 125lbs) are looking into getting into some kayaks. We’re in Alberta, Canada so they will be for use in lakes.
We’d like to stay on the cheaper side just to try it out first.
Preferably sit-on as I’m scared of capsizing myself. I can swim great but I feel like the sit-on would be easier for me.
My partner is fine with either sit-on or sit-in.

A couple I’ve looked at are:
Pelican Sentinel 100X
Pelican Sentinel 80X
Pelican Orion 100X

I’m fine with any brand, not super specific. Just something to try out. Not much available in the used market as I’m pretty far up in northern Alberta.

Thanks a bunch everyone.

Roof Rack on!

Finally extended my Yakima OffGrid Medium. The original was comically small on it. I wish it would go back further but it is what it is.

Next step is wheels and tires.

Upsizing Tire Size, Downsizing Wheel Size?

Hello everyone, I’m looking into upsizing my sidewall for looks and comfort reasons on my Toyota crossover. I have some concerns and wondering if it’s fine to do this change.

My current sizes are:
215/55/18, 18x7, 40 offset.

The sizes I want are:
215/70/16, 16x8, 20 offset.

The smaller wheels will clear the brake system.
My main concern is the 20mm positive scrub radius. It is “AWD” but actually mostly FWD. Some articles and people say it’s fine, some say absolutely not.

I’d love to hear some thoughts on this idea.
