How do you differentiate scoliosis back pain from back pain caused by something else?

I suppose I have mild thoracolumbar scoliosis, but I haven’t gotten my full diagnostic report yet. 14F

I have had back discomfort with occasional pain for a while, but the pain is localized where I think I have a bulging disc (?), which seems more accurate. I also have back pain whenever I stand or sit too long, which doesn’t seem localized. I don‘t have access to a proper PT yet, but is this treatable (it’s my mildest pain issue so I guess I can cope)

Edit: another addition to the mystery: I chronic joint pain, so I’m not sure if my spine is affected by that.

5 shoulder dislocations without pain, is there suspected connective tissue disorder?

I have had several dislocations in the past 2 weeks, and none are really painful. I didn’t fall or anything I just sat still and felt my shoulder slipping out, and it pops back in if I move it a bit. Every time I hear about shoulder dislocations it’s something dramatic and extremely painful. Do I just have high pain tolerance? I don’t think so??? This hurt less than bloodwork for me.

I dislocated my shoulder over 4 times before I seeked medical attention because it didn’t hurt a lot…

So, I generally often have issues with my joints and so, but I have never experienced full dislocations (except once when I was younger) and these were very random, I was just laying on the couch and my shoulder would dislocate and pop back in on it’s own.. It didn’t hurt much either, it wasn’t worse than my usual joint pain. I thought it was just hyperextended. It was very visibily out of place. I had maybe dislocated it 4-5 times before I called a non-emergency medical line for it, and they told me to go there instantly which suprised me. I got some X-rays done, and it looks completely fine, which is great. I also got an appointment for a checkup. It still hurts more than usual. Before this, I wasn’t really able to get a photo of it, but the ER doctor called it a shoulder luxation, I previouly thought it was "just a subluxation" if it wasn’t my hypermobility looking weird. Anyone with a similar experience??

I got my ferritin up, but symptoms are still there

I used to have a ferritin of 24, but now it’s at 55 and I feel worse. I suspect that my symptoms weren’t caused by low iron in the first place…

Events, arrangementer osv.? Eller hvor jeg kan se etter dette?

Tusen takk for alle innspill!

Church with tics/Tourette’s?

I’ve been a Catholic for 2 years, but I’ve recently started to develop mild motor tics (“physical” tics), which aren’t that much of an issue, it’s mostly facial ones. I also have some vocal ones which make sound, and I’m afraid this might disrupt the mass a bit. Any advice on what to do?

Will a psych team notice mild tics?

I have mild motor and vocal tics (mostly silent) and super anxious about mentioning them, so I wonder if my psychiatrist and psychologist will notice them. I have mostly facial tics, so I think if you look closely you’d see it.

Do psychiatrists notice tics?

I have some mild motor and very mild vocal tics, mostly facial and vocal tics that don’t make sound. I’m very afraid to mention it but I think it‘s pretty visible on a worse tic day. Love to hear your thoughts. For example my psychiatrist (I also have a psychologist on the team) noticed my new jewelry so they do notice details.

I was hospitalized for chronic fatigue and neurological symptoms but I feel like they weren’t even thinking about ME/CFS and now I don’t know what to do.

I just came home from my hospitalization after being assessed with several neurological symptoms (fatigue, walking issues, pain, orthostatic intolerance, brain fog, sensitivity to sound and light in a new way, nausea, PEM-like presentation and more) but after 3 days they concluded my symptoms were caused by stress? I’ve had long periods in my life where these symptoms were present but I was a child, with very low stress levels. I don’t want to go against a doctor but I don’t know what to do.

What is the process further for scoliosis without symptoms?

I got diagnosed but it was just seen on an unrelated MRI and they decided to do an X-ray. My doctor (neurologist) just said he saw a curve and he’s going to refer me to an orthopedist but I didn’t get any further information nor was I able to see the X-ray. I have no idea what they’ll do. I don’t have any pain in my back.

What are premonitory urges like?

I have pretty frequent tics but I only know in my head before I tic, I don’t feel anything (sometimes it’s a bit but very rarely) so it just feels like a pull or a reflex but I know it’s about to happen? Is that a premonitory urge?

Why is “everyone” doing a brand deal with OAS mobility?

Whenever I scroll on disability social media I see tons of influencers promoting this brand. Do they pay well? Has anyone actually bought this wheelchair, and if it’s as good as it seems, why aren’t everyone using it instead of expensive manual chairs??

Donating blood and nose piercings?

So, my mom who used to work at a blood bank was making fun of people who get nose piercings and realize they can’t donate blood because of it. She said it‘s because it’s pierced trough mucous membrane. Is this the case most places? Personally, nose piercings isn’t my cup of tea but I’ve never heard anyone else talk about it. I’m Norwegian for context.

Edit: Could someone please explain why it is like that?? Some of y’all aren’t even explaining the rule.

Second edit: Here’s an actual source: https://www.blodbanken-oslo.no/index.php?action=topic&topic=Q9T24Fay

Another edit: I’m not against anyone‘s opinion about my mom. I don’t agree with what she did either…

How can autism WITHOUT social anxiety present?

I’m getting assessed soon, and my mom who isn’t involved seems like she thinks I have social anxiety, but my psychiatrist agreed with me that I probably don’t. I am then wondering how autism without social anxiety presents, since it’s so common in autistic people. Would you say it’s mostly the same?

My friend is saying she’s autistic, but it seems like she thinks it’s a quirk.

I’m not here to shame anyone’s personal experiences, but you have to remember I know this person and have observed her, and you’re a stranger on the internet. I don’t know how to handle this situation.

So, my friend in question, is a teen like me, she is in my opinion not popular, but she is very socially active and has many-ish friends from what I’ve seen.

I don’t remember exactly how the topic was brought up, but once she stated she definitely was on the spectrum while laughing. I don’t think she knew the assessment process because she wasn’t relating when I spoke about how long and tiring it is. (I’m not diagnosed myself, but I have been assessed before. This post is not about my assessment process.) Multiple times, she has spoken about how weird she is, which I guess is fine. She has also said she is very introverted and needs alone time, which is also okay.

Later, about a few weeks ago, I asked her what words that end in -ist described her. That was for sure as a joke. We were talking about political opinions too. She mentioned autist, and asked me if I was diagnosed with anything. I said no.

So what I’ve interpreted, is that she is saying this is based off her extreme interests, which are for sure of intensity like special interests related to autism, and some weirdness.

What should I tell her?? If I get diagnosed it’ll maybe seem argumentative but have a better basis. I could just leave this alone but I kind of want to educate people, since I don‘t like an actual disorder to become trendy. Obviously that’s how I discovered autism, but I’m not self diagnosing and I am getting assessed.
