Looking for someone who does LVP flooring well (over existing hardwood) on the Avalon. Have been in contact with two different individuals who have actually visited my home, but when it comes to getting an estimate, they are MIA.
Does anyone routinely park in this garage downtown - particularly for Regiment Hockey games? (Considering purchasing the season parking pass) How bad is it to exit after a game/event finishes?
So I went to mail a light, slightly less then legal size envelope to a friend that contained a folded tshirt at my local, small town Post. Because it couldn't fit through their 2 cm slot sizer, it had to go as a package and wound up costing $25. However, since its soft, it could easily be pushed through the 2 cm slot. A similar sized envelope (a scarf) that the same friends mailed to us, while slightly smaller L x W then ours, was indeed over 2 cm as well (more like 3 cm), but again - easily squishable to under 2 cm was mailed from Toronto. It's postage -
$1.75 and a 2.61 stamps for a total of $4.36!!
Was I "scammed" by the local post office, does big city Toronto not care, or did maybe my friend put on her own postage and drop it in a postal box?
I'm in the process of using the online passport wizard DS-82 to renew by mail my US passport as I now live in Canada. While the wizard allows the entry of my Canadian address, complete with 6 place postal code, it does not accept anything but xxxxx or xxxxx-xxxx numerical format for the emergency contact (my wife) even though Canada is selected as the country - which then populates the province drop down instead of the states - but still won't take the postal code. Should I use a bogus zip (12345) to be able to move on, or use my brother with an US address instead as the emergency contact?
Edit: Obviously the emergency contact is for traveling and not the application per se, and if 9/10 times I travel with my wife, she would not make a good emergency contact. Hence, I will use my brother in the US, problem solved. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
My son lost his phone so I wanted to see what the options were for replacing it on his current ATT prepaid account which has 5 months left on his annual payment. I see I can go online and pick out phones, however next step is to choose a plan, can't find an option for existing accounts. So tried calling the one number associated with prepaid (800) 901-5878, but the few options I had tried here (lost phone, technical assistance) all ask for his PIN which we have no idea what it is. I even tried 3 other numbers, but they wind up back at this same menu requiring a pin for an agent. Damn, I just want to by another darn phone - you figured that would be jumped on by a live person. (Is there a number associated just with sales?) And of course the contact us by texting "prepaid" to 75421 doesn't work and finally can't get into online account because it wants to send security code to the phone that is lost. And I live in Canada, so I can't go to my local ATT store to speak with someone. Any one know how to get around this and reach a live agent?
Yesterday's ride with the local cycling group - whose rides are normally on gravel T'railways with some roads now and then - threw in about 5 km of pure hell - very rocky terrain to get to a scenic park overlook. Of the 20 or so riders, about half were on E-bikes, and the other half on mountain bikes. Yesterday I was the lone rider with a road/gravel configuration. I managed to stay in the saddle for about 80% of the bad terrain (wish I had taken a few photos while walking my bike), but had to get off for the last couple hundreds meters, and definitely had some white knuckle moments on the brakes coming back down trying to avoid the boulders.
So the question is (besides finding a different cycling group, lol) - at what point do I worry about my carbon frame and wheels being at risk by such a ride? Would the wheels be the first to go relative to the frame? I'm riding a 2022 Comp Carbon with C38 Roval wheels, and after yesterday's ride considering swapping back the DT Swiss alloys for gravel and using the Rovals for the road wheel set. Am I being too paranoid about damage?
Does anyone know the details about yesterday afternoon's shelter in place in the area of Anglican Cemetery Rd? (It lasted about 2 hours) In addition to police and EMS, they had the tactical unit out there!

Been meaning to ask this question for awhile - ever since the OS16 update and the refreshed battery appearance, I have never seen the counter for time since last charge like in the older software - it just says "No data". Very annoying since I like to know when I last charged the phone! (I do have the "screen on active" and "screen off active" counters however) Was thinking maybe OnePlus removed it so you couldn't see your battery life wasting away, lol (which mine has)
But now in other posts with screen grabs of their battery status, other users DO have the time since last charge being given! Is there some setting that needs to be changed?

How is everyone's refund time going? In the past filing from the States it would be about 2 weeks to receive a refund, but this year its been 4 weeks for the first time filing with a Canadian address. Granted, I didn't file before 4/15 as in past years. How many weeks are you Expats seeing for your refund?
I added on TV setup and Calibration to my tv purchase back in April (got a good deal on the price becoming a member). My tv was finally delivered today, but my GS appointment is not until the 11th. Do I patiently wait and leave the new tv in the box until Geek Squad shows up next week? Does setting up the tv myself (there is actually no setup beyond putting it on its stand and then onto the table.) cause any issue with them (ie, warranty, etc)? I'll probably just leave it in the box until they arrive....I've waited over 5 weeks for the set (its a TCL QM8K) to come in, what's one more?!
Just to confirm- it (probably) is not possible to have a dumb dimmer and a Caseta dimmer (along with a pico remote to be placed at a third location for code compliance) on the same 3 way circuit?
The current setup has a regular FEIT dimmer (3 wires, BRR + ground) on the main floor, and a mechanical 3 way switch on the first landing where it appears to get the line voltage. Should I place the Caseta (DVRF) switch here, where the mechanical switch currently is, and swap the mechanical switch in at the old FEIT dimmer switch?
(The remote will be added at the basement landing)

I know I have read this before (either here or at the GE subreddit) about cancelling an application in progress and switching back to renewing GE, but can't find it again.
Since we now permanently live in Canada, and my wife is Canadian, I had elected to switch her to NEXUS prior to her September expiration of GE. Problem is I don't know it we can get the interviews in by that time. And in light of my own GE renewal (I had elected to keep GE since its expiration was too close) going so quick - received my new card in about 4 weeks time, maybe I should cancel wife NEXUS app and switch back to GE renewal. I recall trying to do so maybe difficult? Anyone here tried doing so?
US citizen who has retired and moved to Canada in Oct 2024, so this year is the first time to file both full year Canadian and US returns. Since I'm retired, primary income for me is US Social Security. (That will probably be augmented by US based annuity/IRA withdrawals in the 2026 return). The tax service here has just completed my Canadian return and I owe about $5K, but that doesn't include adding the FTC on the Canadian return yet (since the deadline is tomorrow, we'll amend this later). Now I'm in the process of doing my US return. Do I also do a FTC on the US return too?
Going forward to 2026 returns next year - What is the best way (sequence) to going about filing both returns and applying FTCs as I may have done it wrong this year.
I have one of these DIVA dimmers controlling BAZZ recessed LEDs in my kitchen. With a normal switch one can control the warmth setting of these LEDs by cycling the switch on/off and getting into the color mode without having to take the LEDs down and use the manual switch. Does anyone have any experience if this is possible with the Caseta dimmers? I tried it, but thinking the fact that the switches turn on/off gradually may defeat this method of controlling the LED color.
